Hip Hop Music

He loves his daughter & Lainie, his neice. as said in When I'm Gone, he would take the bullet for them. as any parent would. people say he's not a fit father (in ways he isn't) but he's got his parental instinct and the kids mean the world to him.

To help support his mother, young Marshall worked as a short-order cook at a Michigan family restaurant called Gilbert's Lodge

"My family has never been there for me. They expect things because we're blood."

Cleaning Out My Closet is one of my ALL TIME favorite songs by him. along with Lose Yourself, which explains his troubles in trying to make it in the music industry. Which shows, it's not always easy to make it, and sometimes you freak out.

Good for you all, you've been able to pick some hit Eminem songs. Wonder why the other ones weren't aired? Hmmmmm.

"Have you ever been hated or discriminated against?
I have; I've been protested and demonstrated against
Picket signs for my wicked rhymes, look at the times "

No crap.

C'mon Hai-Hai, we goin to the beach
Grab a couple of toys and let da-da strap you in the car seat
Oh where's mama? She's takin a little nap in the trunk
Oh that smell (whew!) da-da musta runned over a skunk
Now I know what you're thinkin - it's kind of late to go swimmin
But you know your mama, she's one of those type of women
that do crazy things, and if she don't get her way, she'll throw a fit
Don't play with da-da's toy knife, honey, let go of it (no!)
And don't look so upset, why you actin bashful?
Don't you wanna help da-da build a sand castle? (yeah!)
And mama said she wants to show how far she can float
And don't worry about that little boo-boo on her throat
It's just a little scratch - it don't hurt, her was eatin
dinner while you were sweepin and spilled ketchup on her shirt
Mama's messy isn't she? We'll let her wash off in the water
and me and you can pway by ourselves, can't we?

Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!

See honey.. there's a place called heaven and a place called hell
A place called prison and a place called jail
And da-da's probably on his way to all of em except one
Cause mama's got a new husband and a stepson
And you don't want a brother do ya? (Nah)
Maybe when you're old enough to understand a little better
I'll explain it to ya
But for now we'll just say mama was real real bad
She was bein mean to dad and made him real real mad
But I still feel sad that I put her on time-out
Sit back in your chair honey, quit tryin to climb out (WAHH!)
I told you it's okay HaiHai, wanna ba-ba?
Take a night-night? Nan-a-boo, goo-goo ga-ga?
Her make goo-goo ca-ca? Da-da change your dia-dee
Clean the baby up so her can take a nighty-nighty
Your dad'll wake her up as soon as we get to the water
Ninety-seven Bonnie and Clyde, me and my daughter

Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!

Wake up sweepy head we're here, before we pway
we're gonna take mama for a wittle walk along the pier
Baby, don't cry honey, don't get the wrong idea
Mama's too sweepy to hear you screamin in her ear (ma-maa!)
That's why you can't get her to wake, but don't worry
Da-da made a nice bed for mommy at the bottom of the lake
Here, you wanna help da-da tie a rope around this rock? (yeah!)
We'll tie it to her footsie then we'll roll her off the dock
Ready now, here we go, on the count of free..
One.. two.. free.. WHEEEEEE! (whoooooshhhhh)
There goes mama, spwashin in the wa-ta
No more fightin wit dad, no more restraining order
No more step-da-da, no more new brother
Blow her kisses bye-bye, tell mama you love her (mommy!)
Now we'll go play in the sand, build a castle and junk
But first, just help dad with two more things out the trunk

Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
And when we ride!
Just the two of us.. (2X)
Just you and I!

Just the two of us.. (4X)

[Eminem]
Just me and you baby
is all we need in this world
Just me and you
Your da-da will always be there for you
Your da-da's always gonna love you
Remember that
If you ever need me I will always be here for you
If you ever need anything, just ASK
Da-da will be right there
Your da-da loves you
I love you baby

There are many groups and individual artists who play musical instruments , and impliment them in their tracks. Groups like the roots are incredibly talented with all sorts of instruments. There is much more to rapping than rhyming. People who just rhyme over a beat are guys like 50 cent and Eminem. They have no message. Talib Kweli and Mos Def use intricate wordplay and metaphors, while trying to say something.

As for talent, I'd like to see a guy who plays a "real" instrument turn a sample into a completely new, and good sounding beat. It is harder than it looks.

Oh thank god you said it because I really didnt want to say it.. Like I said to each his own but unless you kno the facts about hip hop artist not knowing how to play instruments when a lot of true talented ones do plz stop with the false information...

Alsooo...someone said, "You really can't base true hip hop talent on artist who make a living by talking about sex, money, and drugs". Well that's what a boatload of rock is about. :confused3 A lot of Hairmetal bands made a good living by singing about sex, money, drugs, partying....etc.[/QUOTE]

Thank you I couldn't have said it better myself.. What I meant was that the artist you see everyday on tv are basically commercial hip hop.. Artist And they are performing the type of music they feel well sell records..(sex, drugs, money, bling) If you enjoy and appreaciate the art of rap/ hip hop music you grow to understand the difference btw artist such as nelly vs. An artist such as talib kwali... And appreaciate both for what its worth... I love all music and respect all artist because its not as easy as it may seem...

Eminem songs do tell you something but it is mostly about hurting his ex-ex-wife and his mother and how much he loves his daughter. I am sorry but who can hate their mother.

How is he racist. Do you have any evidence to prove this?

"On November 19, 2003, new controversy surrounded Mathers when a cassette tape was played during a press conference held by The Source magazine. The cassette featured Mathers performing a freestyle rap in which he made disparaging remarks about black women, calling them "dumb chicks" in comparison to white women and claimed they are only after money. Other racial slurs and remarks were on the tape, including the use of the n word."[21] Mathers claimed he made the recording after breaking up with his black girlfriend in 1988; however The Source claimed the tapes were recorded in 1994, and old friends of Eminem's claimed he never had a black girlfriend. "

Well thats sad. I like his music and I think its good. I have delt with plenty of racism me being on the side of people being racist against me and think its wrong but I will still like his music. I am gonna leave this thread because I can argue for hours and hours lol

And this is what gets me every time. Why?

I would just like to say this...

Anybody who says rap/hip-hop isn't music is out of their minds. I'm seeing a lot of very sterotypical views on this subject. People are saying rappers arn't musicians because they don't play instruments. Well like it or not, but your voice IS an instrument. Otherwise, people like Vince Neil, Sebastian Bach, Eddie Vedder, Mic Jagger, all wouldn't be musicians. Also Rappers have a lot more to do with the creation of their music, than just coming into the studio, and rapping some words. You'd be supprised just how much they do.

Also when it comes to their songwriting, some of the lyrics they come up with are brilliant. Real life stories, translated into music. Also to say that they all sound the same is ridiculous. You can't say Eminem's "Loose Yourself" sounds like DMX's "Party Up".

Also, someone said try to play an instrument and see how hard that is, well I challenge that person to try to freestyle and see how difficult that is. Oh and no, "Yo one day I was walking down the street, listening to this beat, when I looked down at the shoes on my feet."

I agree with Sparx. Any REAL musician respects every aspect of music. From the beats of rap, to the guitars of rock, to the steel drums of calypso. You don't say something isn't music just because you don't like it.

Alsooo...someone said, "You really can't base true hip hop talent on artist who make a living by talking about sex, money, and drugs". Well that's what a boatload of rock is about. :confused3 A lot of Hairmetal bands made a good living by singing about sex, money, drugs, partying....etc.

First, thank you for backing me up with that.

Freestyling is one of THE most difficult things any musician or songwriter will ever do. I've done it before, and if you believe anythign on this thread, believe hwo hard it is to come up with real, good lyrics on the spot. It can be done, but its seriously, an accomplishment.

And now, about drugs, money, and sex. There will always be songs about that. and some pretty good ones at that. You can't judge music by whats it about. One of my best songs was a parody on mary had a little lamb. (don't ask)

If I write something, and I call it music you can't tell me that it isn't. Its mine. I can call it whatever I want to. I can throw paint on a wall and call it art. You can't tell me any otherwise. Just because you don't like how I write, doesn't mean that you can tell me that it isn't music.

Your voice is the original musical insturment. People were singing before they ever hit a drum or anything else. Mastering your voice is one of the hardest musical things to do. Anyone can play a guitar, anyone can play a drum, or pound on a piano. No just anyone can sing.

why do we still listen to his music?
because we like some of his songs. i don't listen to any music that has the n mother in it. i'm not going to say 'oh yeah, that guy is a genius' but i still like his music.

and, that was in 19 FREAKING 88. almost 20 years ago! HIS BEST FRIEND Proof was his best man at his marriage. the death of Proof has seriously taken a toll on Eminem. so even if that statement about the tape is true, it wouldn't make much sense, would it? his best friend was black, and so are a lot of the people he signed to his record company.

Yeah I was wondering that too. How can he be racist against black people when he hangs out with black people. :confused3

I'd also like to wonder how he's gay. :confused3

This argument is getting ridiculous. I was arguing his music, then racism and other non-music issues suddenly got thrown into the mix. Come ON people.

I was wondering that too. And the article said it was 1994.

Never said he was gay.

If you people want to argue and throw around stuff, then go ahead. But you better get your facts straight as to what was said and wasn't.
