My family is going to be going to Kidani for the first time in February. We have stayed at Jambo house for the first two years of our membership, we have decided to give kidani a try. Does anyone have any hints for us or anything we can't miss at the resort?

If you haven't, them definitely eat at Sanaa. We loved it! We stayed at Kidani for the first time in Oct, and I was glad my request for a room near the lobby was granted. We found the refillable resort mug to be a good investment since we were a quick elevator trip to the shop. It was nice that they bring in hot breakfast sandwiches for sale (they were ok). We walked to Jambo a couple of times and rode the shuttle a couple of times. It's a great option! Our kids (13 and 10) enjoyed the Kidani pool, and I enjoyed the lava smoothie at the pool bar. We watched a movie by the pool once but got eaten up by mosquitoes. We'll definitely go back to Kidani!

We were just in Kidani in October for a week, and we had a great time after getting our room changed from Pembe Savannah view to a Sunset Savannah View which was what we had originally had requested. For some reason, the request didn't show up even though it was done through Member Services. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the giraffes and zebras throughout the week.

The pool at Kidani was a blast. My 7 year old loved the slide and there were pool parties going on often. We used the poolside bar as a quick service several times for meals. You have to go out the front doors and walk to the right for a little bit to get there. It was not obvious to find. We also used the shuttle to head to Jambo for quick service meals. My father-in-law was with us and would have had a hard time walking it. The shuttle runs every 10 to 15 minutes.

My son loved visiting with the African cast members and they let him and other kids play the drums with them just about every day we were there. He was adopted as a baby from Africa, so he may have enjoyed it more than others. We really appreciated everyone's hospitality. We took him over to Jambo one day for an African culture celebration on the Friday we were there too, so we were back and forth.

The buses were great at Kidani because we were picked up first and dropped off first in regards to Jambo. It was not terribly busy, but even in October, the buses filled up when visiting the parks.

We ate at Sanaa one night for dinner, and it was just my son and me. My husband came down with a stomach bug, and my father-in-law was not adventurous with his food choices. We both really enjoyed the bread appetizer with the dipping sauces. There was typical kid food choices, but everything was very African or Indian infused in the dinner choices. If you like that type of food, you will enjoy it.

Those are the things that stood out to me. I know we enjoyed the extra bathroom in our 1 bedroom villa since we had 3 adults and one child. It made a huge difference.

Bring comfortable shoes...you'll likely be doing a lot of walking.

Also be sure to bring a few Nepalese coins...to tip the Sherpa guide you'll need to hire to find the pool.

Value designation at AKV pertains to Jambo only as far as I know.

Participate in any activities offered by the resort. There are multiple activities that gives a child a bead as a reward for attending. Each bead is unique to that event. There is a Community Hall at Kidani with it's only activities.

Talk to a Cultural Representative, not only about the animals on the savanna at the resort, but about their home town or country. We learn different details each trip. Last time we stayed at AKV we met a Cultural Rep from South Africa and he explained some of the rules of cricket and even a little about rugby. Another explained about the bead program offered at the resort, plus told us about his job on a animal preserve just north of South Africa.

Do you know if you can get the bread service at Sanna is available for takeout? I am the only one in my family who likes Indian food and would like to try this but don't want to sit by myself in a restaurant.

Actually Jedz I'd tell you not miss Boma. It is one of the best restaurants on property in our opinion. We always book a meal there (usually breakfast) when we stay at AKV. Our room preference is Sunset Savannah close to lobby. Close to lobby means close to pool also. We like 2nd or 3rd floor if possible.

No one in our family really likes Indian food (myself included), so we were hesitant to try Sanaa, but we all loved it! My dad and DS13 wanted to watch football (big Cowboys game on and we live in different states so they rarely get to watch together) so they ordered room service and were able to order off the Sanaa menu, so I would think you could just order the bread service.

We also love Boma, and I'd agree it's one of the best restaurants on property.

Kidani's community hall is the most amazing on property imho. What other CH on property has a big TV, couch, 3 game stations, a foosball, pool table, board games, coloring activities for kids (ask about making your own pin for $1) AND has a view of the savanna?

:goodvibes

Doesn't hurt that it's right near the laundry room if you need it either.

I used to say don't miss the Library for a place to relax, but these days it seems the activities and expansion of Sanna's bar up to it during the holiday season have made it too noisy to enjoy. Hopefully it calms back down.
