I have had a nightmare of a weekend. This may get long so let me start by saying....I KNOW how stupid we were. We have beat ourselves up over and over since it happened.

Friday night while minding our business a young man knocked on our door and asked to use our phone. He then asked if he could come in. My husband let him in. He sat down then asked for a drink of water. He made several phone calls then finally asked my husband for a ride. He claimed that he lived across town. My husband said he would need gas money. He made a few more calls then said all he had was $2. My husband gave in and said let's go. He left the room to change his shorts and the boy stood up and said something to me. I didn't hear him at first so I turned down the tv. (ironically we were watching the Funniest Home Videos from WDW that was taped while we were there) I saw that he had my purse behind his back. I told him to put my purse down and I jumped up and he darted out the door. Ok, in hindsight, we realize that this was an incredibly STUPID thing to do. We are guilty of being too trusting.

I call the police and make a report. I start cancelling credit cards. Then I realize that our Disney tickets were in my wallet. I am grief stricken! I know that everything else can be replaced but I have no copy of the backs. Saturday evening, my husband and I go back into the woods to see if my purse might be there. We actually did find it and 2 of the Disney tickets. Now, my question is....has anyone ever had a situation similar to this and been able to replace their tickets??? I have copies of the original tickets that we upgraded from and two of the 8 new tickets. We have the cash register receipt and the credit card ticket. I called guest services and told them what happened and she said that if we bring the receipt to them it should be taken care of, but it just doesn't sound right.

And for the rest of the story, 5 checks were written on my account totalling over $1000. Thankfully, the cashier at Walmart knew me.I got a call at 5 am that a girl was using my drivers license and writing checks. I was able to get stop payments on all of checks before any hit my account though. One of my credit cards was used immediately for $10 in gas and a carton of cigarettes. The guy was not carded and even signed the wrong name on the slip. My check book was found in a Speedway parking lot and a man called and returned it with my license to me. Today, 8 of my credit, debit, and benefit cards were found and brought to me. My insurance and social security cards were still in the purse when I found it in the woods. So, now, I'm hoping for a miracle to bring my Disney tickets home too. Thanks for listening if you've made it this far. Sadly, we will not be able to trust again. My kids are freaked out and wanting to move.

Bless your heart! What a horrible thing to go through.

Yeah, you were too trusting but if your town in KY is anything like mine in TN, sometimes you just are too trusting. We learn the hard way. It could have been a lot worse. That boy could have hurt you or your DH or kids. One never knows these days. It is terrible to have to worry about helping someone.

I hope your ticket situation works out. I probably would have been most upset about my WDW tickets also. LOL

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm glad that you are safe and ok. That's the main thing. I won't nag you...it's obvious you've learned from the incident. Heck, I'm so paranoid that I don't even open the door for strangers.

I hope you get your Disney tickets back.

You poor thing! :grouphug: I'm so sorry you had to go through something like that.

I'm so sorry this happened to you.

Once again someone is punished for being nice and trusting. :sad2:

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I think we would have been just as trusting as you. We live in a small town in VT.

I hope that you get your other tickets back.

Just glad that you and your kids and DH are ok, and didn't get hurt.

:grouphug: I can almost say been there done that too!

I once let in the boy that mowed our yard. I had "known" him for over a year. He told me his dad kicked him out and was looking to mow my yard early to earn some lunch money. Well the yard didn't need done so I gave him $5 and told him to come back in a couple days. I also made sure he had a place to stay and was getting him registered with job corps. Well the turd came back that afternoon while I was gone and broke into my home!!! Luckily we only lost part of our dvd collection. I came home in the middle of it and they excaped out the back. However they sold some of my dvd's locally and I knew from the description who it was. He was silly enough to call his friend earlier from my cell phone so I also had the friends phone number and very quickly an address. From what I understand he was set to be released after serving about 18months but that was over a year ago and I just received another letter saying he was being released becuase he was turning 21. So evidently he never was released or he was sent back. :confused3 My DS11 has had alot of trouble with all this. He knew and trusted this kid. Even kinda looked up to him at point. :sad2:
I hope the other tickets show up soon!

Did he actually make phone calls or just pretend to, because if he was actually making calls to his friends you have the phone records of the numbers he was calling and the Police should be able to trace the numbers.

:grouphug: I am so sorry this happened to you. What a bummer all the way around and I can understand your kids being kinda freaked out.

The phone records should help the police. And I would take a copy of the police report to the Guest Services with you, so that if they are able to replace them you at least have a record of what happened.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Given the circumstances, I, too could have been guilty of being too trusting. I have a different mindset than friends who live in more populated areas with much more crime and that's not always good because being too trusting is definitely a danger.

Thank goodness all of you are alright. That's what's important. At least, too, you've found some of your cards, just replacing a drivers license is a pain.

We learned the hard way not to be trusting. Our new house was broken into several months after we moved in. We were sure it was one of the people who had worked on the house, they knew exactly where to go, layout of the house, what time to break in etc.

I refuse to answer the door to almost everyone, if I don't recognize the car or know who's coming, I don't answer the door. I peek out the window and then stay away from the door. This world is too crazy.

:grouphug: What a rotten experience. And in your own home!

I had a similar scam run on my at my place of work, a hospital. A guy in the ICU waiting area who was waiting to see his grandmother began to feel bad. He was diabetic and haden't eaten since he got there(it was 4a.m.), so he was having a low sugar moment and could I please get him some orange juice and maybe a piece of bread(things we always had in the fridge.) While I went to retrieve the food, he went off iwth my wallet, which I didn't even realize was missing until morning. What a mess! There wasn't much money, but I had to file a police report, cancel the cards, etc. The worst part was he took my health insurance card, my nursing license and the only picture I had of my deceased gradnfather. I never got them back.

Although my theif got caught when he tried his scheme at another hospital(they found my stuff in his car!) it left me feeling frightened and vulnerable, almost to the point of feeling violated. It took a long time for me to stop looking over my shoulder. When someone abuses your trust in a place you thought to be safe, it cuts you more deeply than anything. :grouphug:

I am so sorry this happened to you. But stop worring about your tickets. Disney will be able to fine the information of the other tickets and will issue you new tickets, it may take a little time but they can find them. If you purchased all the tickets at the same time the tickets will even be easier to find as they will know what #'s to start with.

If you purchased them directly from Disney, and the tickets were all from the same transaction - and you have at least one of the tickets, it's almost positive you'll be able to recover them.

When you go down to Disney, make sure you have the two tickets you found from your purse, and whatever reciepts or reservation/will call numbers that might be attached to those tickets. The Guest Relations hosts/hostesses are experts at pulling up lost tickets, and will do so if at all possible :)

Once it was all over with I really started thinking about how lucky we were. He had told my husband that he lived across town, which we have since found out was not true. So, that leads me to believe that he probably would have mugged him if he had actually gotten in the car with him. I'm also glad now that I didn't jump up sooner because he may have harmed me too. Thankfully, my children were not in the house at the time. I'm also thankful that my keys were on the table and not in my purse. I didn't even think about it until the cop told us to change the locks on our doors that he may come back. We are still worried about that though, since he has been in here and knows what we have. We've lived here for 7 years and have never had the first problem. And now, I will be watching every person that comes near.

As for our tickets, I hope that you all are right. It wouldn't be so bad if it were just my families tickets, but I had my mom's, stepdad's, and aunt's tickets in there too. They were very understanding and glad that none of us were hurt. The tickets can and will be replaced one way or another, but we can't be.

That is crazy. I am such a chicken and never trust anyone. I wonder what he was going to do if he got in the car with your husband. How did he think he wouldn't notice the purse when he was in a car with him? Thank God everyone is safe and you didn't lose as much as you could have?

I don't know about Disney but I am sure it is similar to Universal's system. Universal can scan any ticket in the transaction and pull up a list of all the tickets on that order. Then it is just a simple click to reprint the lost tickets. The stolen tickets will also be voided out at that time so they can't be used.

If you don't have any of your tickets, they can look it up by the receipt. Without a receipt or any tickets, they can still look up the order by your name if you ordered online directly from the company and then reprint the tickets from the order. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the tickets at all.

Sorry you have to go through all of that - I am very glad you were not harmed physically.
