I have had a nightmare of a weekend. This may get long so let me start by saying....I KNOW how stupid we were. We have beat ourselves up over and over since it happened.
Friday night while minding our business a young man knocked on our door and asked to use our phone. He then asked if he could come in. My husband let him in. He sat down then asked for a drink of water. He made several phone calls then finally asked my husband for a ride. He claimed that he lived across town. My husband said he would need gas money. He made a few more calls then said all he had was $2. My husband gave in and said let's go. He left the room to change his shorts and the boy stood up and said something to me. I didn't hear him at first so I turned down the tv. (ironically we were watching the Funniest Home Videos from WDW that was taped while we were there) I saw that he had my purse behind his back. I told him to put my purse down and I jumped up and he darted out the door. Ok, in hindsight, we realize that this was an incredibly STUPID thing to do. We are guilty of being too trusting.
I call the police and make a report. I start cancelling credit cards. Then I realize that our Disney tickets were in my wallet. I am grief stricken! I know that everything else can be replaced but I have no copy of the backs. Saturday evening, my husband and I go back into the woods to see if my purse might be there. We actually did find it and 2 of the Disney tickets. Now, my question is....has anyone ever had a situation similar to this and been able to replace their tickets??? I have copies of the original tickets that we upgraded from and two of the 8 new tickets. We have the cash register receipt and the credit card ticket. I called guest services and told them what happened and she said that if we bring the receipt to them it should be taken care of, but it just doesn't sound right.
And for the rest of the story, 5 checks were written on my account totalling over $1000. Thankfully, the cashier at Walmart knew me.I got a call at 5 am that a girl was using my drivers license and writing checks. I was able to get stop payments on all of checks before any hit my account though. One of my credit cards was used immediately for $10 in gas and a carton of cigarettes. The guy was not carded and even signed the wrong name on the slip. My check book was found in a Speedway parking lot and a man called and returned it with my license to me. Today, 8 of my credit, debit, and benefit cards were found and brought to me. My insurance and social security cards were still in the purse when I found it in the woods. So, now, I'm hoping for a miracle to bring my Disney tickets home too. Thanks for listening if you've made it this far. Sadly, we will not be able to trust again. My kids are freaked out and wanting to move.

I'm so sorry you had to go through something like that.

My DS11 has had alot of trouble with all this. He knew and trusted this kid. Even kinda looked up to him at point.
