HIMYM - How I Met your Mother, series finale....

I agree! I'm so upset! Robin and Ted were never "meant to be." They always just used each other to hide from reality.

My teen DD, a HUGE HIMYM fan liked it. I hated it starting when Robin & Barney got divorced.

I thought it was interesting that they filmed the "kids" a long time ago with the ending. Apparently the "Your mom is dead and dad really loves aunt Robin" arc has been there for a long time.

I get that it was planned (the actress playing the daughter is Nikita & quite a bit older now) but yuck. Ted just comes off as pathetic.

Of course, my dh says Ted has always been pathetic.

I don't want to even watch this in syndication now. Just done.....

I also hated it. I realize that it sounds silly, but I almost feel cheated. It's like, the entire premise of the show is him telling his kids about how he met their mom. But then at the end, after YEARS of the stupid thing dragging on, it turns out that it's just a sneaky way for him to get his kids on board. It just feels gross.

I've watched from day one and I was really getting tired of it. The Ted character has become insufferable. Tonight I thought it was getting worse and worse as they were piecing together all the flashbacks and flash forwards and I could not remember what was what, but then suddenly they went to the present and the Mother was dead and he went for Robin and everything was as it had should have been.

They totally redeemed everything. I went from being completely disappointed to feeling like they finally made it right.

Hated it! The whole idea of him going after Robin is just ick to me. I never felt liked he loved the mom. She was just stuck in there between stories of Robin.

All those years of waiting for the mom and all we got was a few scenes with her.

The only scene I liked was Barney with his baby and the. When she shooed the women out of the bar.

I wonder how many different endings they may have shot 9 years ago. They should have chosen something different.

How did it end?
Will someone PM me?
I didn't get to see it.
Let's see if I can remember ...

* Robin becomes a famous news anchor and travels the world. She and Barney break up over it and get divorced.
* Robin goes on to be a successful but alienates herself from "the gang".
* Barney reverts to his old ways and tries some kind of hedonistic weekend where he has sex with lots of women and gets #31 preggers. He appears to be disinterested in his baby until he meets in the hospital her and falls deeply in love.
* Lily & Marshall go on to have 3 kids.
* Marshall goes back to corporate law, then becomes a judge and announces that he is running for the state supreme court.
* Ted and The Mother (crap! I can't remember her name) are engaged and arrange a super fancy wedding but she ends up pregnant. The wedding is off and they have 2 kids and finally get married 7 years later.
* The gang gets together for the wedding and Robin reunites with them.
* Cut back to the kids and they say: "Why did you tell us this story that doesn't really have our mother in it?" Ted goes on to reminisce about his life with The Mother and how lucky he was to know her. We find out that she died due to some unknown illness. The kids say "We know you love aunt Robin, you should call her." Ted shows up at her apartment instead (the original apartment in the series) with a blue french horn (from the 1st season).

HA!
Thank you so much!
I knew Robin wasn't their mother because Ted kept calling her "Aunt Robin" but so much of the show was focused on her it made me think that he would end up with her!
I get to gloat to the boyfriend that I was right! :dance3:

I'm mad at this show. It's supposed to be this great love story but instead he's just going to end up with Robin. Thanks for wasting 9 years of my life.

Can't wait to see this. Had to google for the series finale spoiler.
I think the ending makes sense. I know there were a lot of rumors floating around that the mother was deceased, so I was prepared for that.
(The mom's name is Tracy McConnell.)
