Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, anyone?

I think I got a rational rate for our few days, $123/night. (Plus parking and resort fees oh well)

We're going to do just one day of Disney parks, then other non-Disney things. Will this be a fun place to be for a day of just taking a break?

That's a great rate no matter how you look at it. Fun place? depends on your out look. Beds are not terribly comfy and the place can be empty or packed with convention people. Watch the Kiddos in the self parking structure as people drive more than a little nutty in there. The Lazy River pool is nice. HBC is close to the park and attractions. There is a coffee/sandwich shop where you can charge to your room ( great food and coffee) as well as a small sundries store. Not a fan of the other dining options here with the exception of Bull & Bear in the Waldorf. If your package includes B'fast this is pretty good. Oddly I wouldn't suggest the B'fast place in the Waldorf at all.
This is an uber easy drive to DTD as well.

I stay here every year. My father has a convention there in May. The rest of the family just piggy backs on his work trip. The hotel is beautiful. Staff is great. Best part about the hotel is the pool. Its great. Lazy river/slide/waterfalls. What more can you ask for. They now offer free tubes so need to bring one. Lots of chairs and umbrellas by the pool. The service by the pool is excellent. They also offer kids activities during the day. Last time I was there they offered mermaid lessons. So cute. If you choose to order a drink by the pool, get a mudslide. They are amazing!!!

This is my favorite property in the Orlando area, but I'm also a Hilton guy. Newer property, comfy rooms (not sure why anybody would hate the beds LOL), beautiful grounds, excellent pool and above-average activities. Pretty standard Hilton, which means that much of its clientele will be business and not vacationers.

If you're looking for a "fun" property, you should be able to get a Disney value resort for less money...
