How big of an ordeal is it to get to the beach from the villas? How frequent is the bus service. Trying to decide between Vero and HH for June. We are in SC, so HH would be much more convenient, but just wanted to get feedback on how big of a deal it is to be away from the ocean and pool.

We were there last summer and didn't find it to be a big deal at all. We either rode our bikes or took our own car. Sorry I don't have any input on the shuttle, but it did seem to go back and forth often. The beach was less than a mile. I would not let that deter my stay at all, the resort was awesome.

Many activities for the kids?

The resort shuttle runs from 10:00am until 5:00pm. From late April thru September there is also a free "Dunes Buggy" shuttle that serves the Palmetto Dunes area (where the Disney resort is located). It runs from 8:00am - 9:00pm.

It's just over a mile to the beach and is an easy drive (parking is available at the beach house), but is also very doable by bike and even on foot.

The resort has a wonderful recreation department with activities for all ages - including adults. There are a variety of nature programs offered by the resort naturalist, crafts, Kids Night Out, Teens Night Out, campfires, storytelling, magic shows as well as many water related activities from the resort. This summer they even offered cooking classes with Robert Irvine - host of the Food Network show "Dinner: Impossible" and who owns a restaurant near the resort - "EAT!" .

Enjoy! :)

There is a pool at the beach house, but there is also one at the resort within easy walking distance (no more than 3-4 minutes) of all the villas. So you wouldn't be "away from the pool" at all.

If you're at the beach house past the shuttle schedule, you can use the "house" phone to call the resort and a van will be sent over to pick you up. We were a little worried when we realized we might be stranded, but the HH resort employees were great...we had a nice conversation with our driver on the way back. :)

Thanks for sharing the info about Robert Irvine, did not know they offered this, hope they continue.

Do we have to pay for the activities offered each day? Do you know the age limit for the Kid's Club? We have a 3YO who is toilet trained but don't know if he's old enough for the club. Hoping for a nice dinner out at the Santa Fe Cafe without the kids! Thanks :)

So thinking of using some pts for my DH and I -
Relaxation would be key....but for those that have been, what's your top ten -
inc. rest., outdoor, etc.
Is it worth it to spend a few days before or after WDW -?

Many of the activities are free - Campfire, stories, magic shows, pool games - and some have costs to pay for materials. Usually, DVC members will get a discount on those. Tours and Kids Night Out programs (which include a pizza dinner and a movie or game activity) do have a charge. I believe the minimum age is 5 for the Kids Night Out, but you can always ask, especially if there is an older sibling who can take care of the little one.

We have been to HHI many times and have yet to ride the shuttle. It is so much easier just to jump into your car and ride over.
