Hilton Head without points?

I was thinking of vacationing at Hilton Head Island for thanksgiving as I will be stationed in Charleston SC at that time. Is it worth the money if you're not using points?

Any idea what the best way to go about a Hilton Head vacation is? I've never been!

It's definitely worth to stay at on cash at Thanksgiving. However, if you're talking about this Thanksgiving, I'd be VERY surprised if anything's available. It's a very popular time, usually sold out-we bought points there because we go every Thanksgiving and wanted/needed the 11 month window. I don't know all the prices, but a studio there runs about $125/night and a 1 BR is about $168/night. These are the prices without the Member's Discount, so we're paying about $126 for a weekend night in a 1 BR before our points stay.

We've paid as little as $81/night for a studio on Members Cash at HHI.

We can't ever seem to get a room for Thanksgiving itself...but have had good luck w ith Friday-Monday afterwords.

That also means we get to see the Christmas decorations. We really enjoy splitting our time between Hilton Head and Savannah.

I just called MS about a cash reservation for Thanksgiving at HHI on 8/5. I was told there were rooms of all sizes available. The 1 BR rate they quoted me was something like $185/night - with the member discount. Several years ago, we stayed in a 2BR for $125 night on a special promotion for members. Sure would like to see those prices again, but I don't suppose that will happen anytime soon.

If you aren't dead set on Disney there are some great other options and they can be VERY resonable at that time of the year. Try searching for HH rental companies.

I'd look into the Marriott timeshares. Gorgeous properties and on the beach.
