Hilton Head - too late to book?

Wondering if anyone has booked 1 or 2 bdroom at HHI recently for this Dec/early January ? I know it is VERY late to be booking but we are just now getting around to planning a post-christmas - new years vacation to somewhere a little warmer than Michigan. We own at SSR and would have booked something at the 7-mo window but actually didn't even think about it....anyway, so what do you think our chances of getting a 1/2 bedroom for 12/26 through 01/04 are going to be? SLIM to none or is there hope ?

Although I've never tried at that time of year, I would be surprised if HH gets busy in late December/early January. Although the weather is warmer than Michigan, it is still cold-at least too cold to swim. We usually go in March, once we went in late February and it didn't get above the 50s all week. But if you're going for relaxation, bike riding, shopping, it may be fun.
