I have ressies for 3rd week in June and my wondering if I have done the wrong thing. We are a family of 5, parents 40's kids 18, 16 and 12. We are a very active family on our vacation and are not wondering if there will not be enough to do???

Because we like more action would the main building be a better place for us to stay?

Most of the activities center around the Community Hall/Pool area - not the Live Oak Lodge. The resort is relatively compact and nothing is far from any location, so I wouldn't worry too much about where your villa is located. The entire resort is about 400 yards from end-to-end.

You will want personal transportation to visit the other areas of the island for dining, shopping and the wide variety of other activities available. Right at the resort there are Dolphin cruises and fishing charters available and other cruises are available from the nearby marina- along with several dining options and shopping at the Shelter Cove merchant area (these are all within an easy walk). The Beach House is just over a mile away and shuttle transport is available from the resort- although many resort guests drive and park themselves.

You'll definitely want to visit Harbour Town and the South Beach area of the island- these are noth within the Sea Pines Planatation. There are several outlet malls just off the island (you'll pass them on your way to the resort).

I wouldn't worry at all about your room location - just go and enjoy the resort. Activities include all sorts of water related activities, canoeing, kayaking, parasailing, fishing, crabbing, horseback riding, shelling, bird watching, Dolphin cruises, trips to nearby Dafuskie Island and Pinckney Island as well as golfing, tennis, swimming (pools are heated year round and the ocean is delightful throughout the summer months) and walks on the beach are wonderful. The area has miles of paved bike trails and the resort has bikes available for rent.

Have a great stay!

I was there this summer with 3, 7,4,1. The island itself is a great area. It is more of a plus that you are staying at a resort with lots of activities etc. The beach is great, with a great pool house. There is plenty to do, I know people that just rent a house with out any activities that have a good time.

Don't worry, You'll have a great time. My kids are currently 22, 20, 15 and 7 and each of them LOVES Hilton head. We have been to the resort 3 times and will be returning this summer. We are also an active family. We really enjoyed the Pickney Island tour/hike and Kayaking. Last summer we went on a sunset sail on a charter sailboat called Cheers. It was really great. We saw dolphins and also a bald Eaglle in flight. My older kids like to use bikes to get to and from the beach and also to bike to the nearby mall. There are bike paths, so it is all very safe. Their favorite place to eat is The Wild Wings Cafe in Coligny. Hope you have a great time :cool1:

Hilton Head is WONDERFUL. My kids are 16, 11, 5 and we always find new and fun things to do in HH. The third week in June is great for being outdoors---not too hot yet (usually) for things like bike riding, the ocean is nice and warm, the island hasn't hit the peak crowds yet. Have fun! :sunny:

My husband grew up on HHI. There is plenty to do! Just make sure you have a car and don't just stay on Disney property. Pick up an Island Events or Where to Go on HHI tourist book--it has pages of things to do on the island. We have three kids and still love visiting HHI even though my in-laws moved off the island a few years ago. :sunny:
