We are DVC members--have been for about a year...we would like to take our family to HHI next year...our son will be about a year old and we won't be ready for a Disney trip yet!
we thought HH would be a fun, relaxing trip...
I was wondering how it works...since we do not own there we have to wait until 7 mon. out, as far as I understand. Now, we'll probably get 2 br's...do those go first usually? Will we have a really hard time booking?
We are looking for late June I believe...
I appreciate your help.

I think if you call right at your 7 mo. window, you can get the 2 bedroom for late June. Your best chance is with a 2 bedroom since there are many.

We're going to HH for the first time this June. Since this is peak season at HH and we had to book at the 7 mo window, I called day by day when I made our reservations. Some people say day by day is not necessary, but I wasn't leaving anything to chance. (If we were booking WDW at 7 mos, I'd probably call once and take what was available...but I thought HH was different and more difficult.) For one of our nights I recall MS said we got the last unit available.

Best of luck. I hear it's wonderful.

Hi,

I will try & help. Yes, you will have to wait for 7 months from your check out date. From what I understand, there are mostly 2 bedrooms @ HH. Summer is a busy season for HH, but if you can be flexible about your dates you should be okay. You can always waitlist too. I've seen a lot of waitlist success on these boards. Good Luck!! :wizard:

We also plan on going next summer, end of June to Hilton Head with our sons who will be 6 and 1 at that time! I plan on calling day by day at 7 mo window. Is Hilton Head a good choice for a 12month old? We also thought WDW would be too much for such a young toddler. Any recommendations for restaurants or things to do with young children would be greatly appreciated. We plan on spending a lot of time at the pool/beach.

HHI is great for any age. Our son was born july 25 and we took him there in Oct. It was still warm, though we did not swim or put him in the water. He had a good time. We had a studio and after that trip it broke him of crying and feeding in the middle of the night. We leave at the end of April, He will be 9 mo. old then. I can't wait for him to swim for the 1st time. He loves the bath so much, I can't wait to see if he likes the pool. We plan on taking him to nice rest. too. Last time he liked the patio at Alexanders. the beach is very wide (from shore to dune) and you can always find big puddles of water in the midddle of the beach that toddlers love to play in. You can also find shells, starfish, and sanddollars. It might be hard in the summer time to find the wildlife though. I own at HHI and I do not usually use my 11 month window to book in the summer. So that gives you one more chance.

Thanks for your responses...I feel better now!
My family is very laid back and loves the beach, who doesn't love to relax? They aren't the types who like to run every minute...so I think HHI will be perfect for them! Plus with a new little one I will need the relaxation too!:D

I tried to get July '04 2 BR ressies at 7.5 months out and, although HHI was fully booked, we were waitlisted for 3 different July weeks, and two of them came through. Worked out perfectly!
