We will be going to Hilton Head in a few weeks for DDs gymnastics meet and I'm wondering if anyone could recommend some good restaurants. We will be staying 3 nights and are looking primarily for seafood/steak restaurants with a nice atmosphere. We also enjoy good mexican and italian food. TIA!

This is our favorite seafood restaurant, ever. They're not fancy...very simple atmosphere....but they have the BEST, most freshest seafood we've ever had. There's always a crowd there, but service is very good and fast. I suggest getting an outside table, on the water. There are usually some fishing trawlers moored out there....and it's very casual and relaxing. It's a paper napkin / plastic souvenir cup type of place...but the food is excellent.

We tried a very nice looking seafood restaurant down there during one of our visits...can't remember the name, but it was something to do with a pirate....Blackbeards / Bluebeard's / Captain's Table....can't remember. It was in a very nice shopping / dining development. Anyway...the atmoshphere was very nice and there was a good live band playing, but you would definitely feel out of place if you were dressed in shorts or normal vacation clothes. The scallops there were rubbery and bitter tasting, and the portions were tiny. My advice would be to stay away from restaurants in trendy, upscale shopping centers.

On another night, we tried a Mexican place in that same shopping center. It was pretty good...but not great. I was obviously unimpressed with it, since I can't remember the name of it, either. Sorry.

Enjoy your trip!

Yes I agree with Hudsons.

The Old Oyster factory ws always good too, but it's been a few years since we've been there.

San Miguels in Shelter Cove has good Mexican food and nightly entertainment. There is a childrens entertainer at 8pm every night at Shelter Cove as well. He is very good.

Have a great time! :)

There's Aunt Chilada's-great Mexican and all you can eat crablegs. At Coligny Plaza, you'll find Steamers, great seafood & steaks. Both have great family atmosphere. Coligny Plaza is near North Forest Beach, has a wonderful old fashioned ice cream parlor and a nice coffee shop, Java Joe's. We biked there every morning for coffee, but usually go to the bakery in the Plaza for their homemade pastries. The Oyster Factory is one of the most popular restaurants on the island, but our last visit was not as good as previous, but I would probably go back. Wonderful atmosphere, outdoor bar on the water. As you can see, we love Hilton Head. This is the first summer in seven years we haven't been and I'm homesick for it !!
