I know this may at first glance sound like a stupid question - but has anyone ever done an II exchange for one of the Marriott resorts at Hilton Head? If so, how easy or difficult was it to get. Yes, I know there is a DVC resort there and in fact we have points there but DW and I was talking and we'd like to try staying once where you are actually on the beach. I'd give up 160 points to stay in a 1BR for a week there if I could get an exchange.

Alternatively, what about the Marriott resort at Myrtle Beach?

Of the resorts on the DVC II exchange list for HH, the only one that has 1 BR or smaller units is Harbour Town Yacht Club and it's not on the beach. Only 3 on the list are on the Beach, and they are all Marriott's. All are very nice with some variation in the qualify of the location. This will cost 270 points in all likelihood and will not be 160. The difficulty will depend on when you are trying to go. June to mid August will be almost impossible other than possibly very short notice. The further away you get from summer, the easier things get to exchange in. Your best bet is to find an owner and do a direct exchange if you decide to proceed and need a high demand time. If you don't need more than a 1 BR, I'd stay with DVC or look for a condo rental for summer.

Thanks Dean. What about the Marriott at Myrtle Beach, does it have 1BR's. We'd be flexible on our dates. March-May or Sept.-Oct. would be fine. We just seemed to enjoy the beach so much this trip, I sure would like to actually stay on the beach one trip. Man, I wish the VB resort was on HHI.

No 1 BR units there either. The resorts on the DVC list that do have 1 BR and are ocean front are the Shorecrest in N. MB and I BELIEVE the Schooner resorts are OF but am not totally certain. I can't think of any 1 BR units in HH that are OF and of reasonable qualify for II in general or RCI. You might also be able to get a direct exchange that would work out for you. Another area to consider might be Virginia Beach but likely not for some of the time of year you mentioned.

you can find the beach front resorts on II. We have traded our non-DVC timeshare for Hilton Head several times. Depending on the time of year you can find several trades. Especially if you are flexible with your dates. If you know someone who owns a non-DVC resort maybe you could do a trade through them. We have even traded our non-DVC into the Disney resort at HIlton Head. It was great. At the time we found that trade, we also could have had the Marriott resort on the beach. Good Luck!
