We have owned for close over 5 years now and have made many trips to Disney but this summer will be our first trip to Hilton Head. We are all very anxious! I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for any good restaurants or additional activites that we can do while we are there? We will be making the trip with our two young daughters (a 4 year old and a 2 year old). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We love HHI. Be sure to ask at the front desk for a coupon booklet for restaurants.

We like The Salty Dog restaurant for crab legs, Mellow Mushroom for pizza, Skillets for breakfast and the Old Oyster Factory. Hudson's is on our next trip list.

Your kids will enjoy the singer Shannon Tanner at Shelter Cove and at Sea Pines.

Tuesday night during the summer, there are fireworks that can be viewed from the Disney resort.

Thanks, for the suggestions. I am so excited about heading there. All of those places sound fantastic. I had actually heard about Savannah, GA from my sister in law.

This will be our fourth HHI summer - we just love it! The island itself is great and the Disney resort is lots of fun. Be sure to check out a campfire night with your little ones. My kids love them - sing silly songs that are led by great cm's and then roast marshmallows to make smores. :) There are loads of activities everyday the resort puts on like making Micky tie dye t-'s, making beach totes, magic shows with B'Lou Crabbe, nature walks, pool games, Bingo games, etc. etc. Loads to do, however during the summer our favorite spot is their beach. HHI's beach is very wide with hard compacted sand that is great for castle and fort building!! Plus during low tides tidal pools form that are teeming with sea life that kids have so much fun observing. The water is also great at HHI, its very calm, no riptides and you can wade out quite far without it being too deep.

The pool party on Tues. night is also a blast and a don't miss for kids. They have games, face painting, balloon sculptures from B'Lou Crabbe and dancing on the deck. :) And the night ends with fireworks from Shelter COve marina.

Shelter Cove marina is just a quick walk from the resort and Shannon Tanner is a great entertainer for the kids. He plays two shows almost every night during the summer months. Over at the marina are cute shops and restaurants.

Get ready to meet the best cm's!! They are super nice and helpful!!
Have a great trip.

This place has the best pizza I've ever had! It's located in the grocery store mall (Piggly Wiggly), about 1/2 mile from the resort. Turn left onto the main drag, and look for it on the left. It's right by Fuddruckers. They give a DVC discount as well. I'd eat every meal there if my wife would allow it. Other folks that we were with had non-pizza items (sandwiches), and said they were delicious as well.

Do you like seafood? For some reason, HHI resort brings out my constant desire for seafood. We like Salty Dog cafe, in Seapines; Captain Woody's; the Sea Shack; and Kenny B's. We also have heard good things about Crazy Crab (I think the one right on the main highway) but we haven't been there yet.

We just came back from HHI over spring break and these are some of the activities/places we visited:

1. Savannah - 45 min to 1 hr. away (so much to see and do there)
2. Parris Island - Marine training base/Museum (husband uncle was stationed there, plus it was free) 45 min. to 1 hr. away
3. Dolphin tour
4. Kayaking
5. If you are a fan of Food Network...Dinner Impossible - Robert Irvine has a rest. there on HH and it is called Robert Irvine's EAT. He was there the night we visited and even sat down and talked to us!!! Great surprise and treat!
6. Lots of the art and craft at the HHI DVC
7. Of course the beach...lots of sand dollars and star fish was on the beach
