Hi,
We are going to send our nephew to HH or Disney for his honeymoon and know nothing about HH. Can anyone answer a few guestions for me?

Will there be too many kids around for them to enjoy themselves? Not that there won't be in Disney World! (Going in late Sept or Oct)

What is the best location for a studio? Best view etc.

Best location for a one bedroom?

Are there studio rooms avail in the Oak Lodge and what is the lodge like?

Thanks in advance, Murphy

IMO, the best view for either a studio or 1 BR is this one-

it's the third floor of Oak Lodge, on the right as you face the building from the front. The picture was taken from a 1 BR, but there's a studio right next door with virtually the same view. Most of the studios and 1 BRs are in Oak Lodge, a few in buildings 16, 18, 28, 31, and I think 19(?). We don't have young children anymore, but I don't remember a whole bunch noticeably around. There probably were a lot of children, but not problematic. And you go out to eat in resturants off property, so they could pick romantic, adult-oriented resturants. I think it's a great choice!

There are 21 Studios and 21 1BRs at the resort. 16 of each are located in the Live Oak Lodge - Buildings 11/12 - where the front desk is found. There is a parking garage under those buildings and elevators are also available there. (None of the other buildings have elevators.) The other 5 Studios/1BRs are located beneath the GVs scattered around the resort in Buildings 16,18,19, 28 and 30. Those tend to be a little noisy due to the hardwood floors in the GVs. The views at the resort are of the marsh, island views and pool. No Studios or 1BRs have a pool view. The marsh is our favorite with nice views out over Broad Creek - a tidal marsh where we've seen dolphin, sea otter, alligators, manatee and a wide variety of shore birds including osprey, kites, pelicans, herons and gulls.

HH is family destination and there will be children at the resort year-round - but it should not be an issue at all. HH is a very relaxing place and there are lots of adult things to enjoy in the area. Late September will still have daytime air temps in the 80's and the ocean will also still be in the low 80s. The resort itself is on a small island (Longview) in Broad Creek and forms the barrier for Shelter Cove. The ocean is just over a mile away (there is a resort shuttle) with a nice wide beach with gentle slope and no rip current.

There are about 6 restaurants within 400 yards walk of the resort and Shelter Cove is home to a number of boutique shops along with the restaurants. There is also a performing arts center at Shelter Cove with a nice variety of show thru the year - Les Miserable will be offered this month.

I'm sure they'll find lots to do! :)

Here is a link to more specific information about the HH Resort.

Thanks for posting this question! We are getting my DSis and new hubby their honeymoon at HHI this October and I just called to request a 1 bedroom marsh view in the lodge. I am hoping that they love this resort as much as I do.

Thnanks for the pictures, Simba's Mom and Doc for the info on the rooms, I'm tempted to go there myself! I'm sure they will have a great time. I'll request the Oak Lodge, I think it will be perfect.

We were in Building 13, just a little behind the picture above. There was a dolphin that swam up that little stretch of water when the tide was coming in. You should see all the fish he or she was chasing in. It was amazing.

Plus honeymooners - there is a spa that Disney had discount coupons for - the European Spa at lifespan center. They offer couples massages, etc. It's hard to get appointments, so if it is anything they would be interested in, there is a website if you google them.

We were at HHI last week and I would def. recommend it for honeymooners - it can be as quiet and secluded as you want it to be. And late Sept / early Oct when the schools are back in session, you'll have less families with children.

The Lodge is about a 3-minute walk to the main pool / recreation area, and a minute walk to the shuttle for the Beach.
