Can anyone fill me in on the Chef Gordon experience? Do you have to reserve this in advance?
Thanks

DH, DS(15) & myself enjoyed a private Affair w/ Chef Gordon. It was the high point of our otherwise rain-filled HH week. The food was delicious & I'm sure Gordon would work w/ any group to meet their needs. You DEFINITELY need to reserve far in advance. When we arrived at HH, I called to confirn our ressie, which had been made about 2 months earlier. Gordon's answering machine said he was already booked through September 15th.

Make sure you get the crab cakes as an appetizer. They were incredible! We did "A Private Affair" in April and it was WONDERFUL! Have fun!

Just wanted to say that Chef Gordon's "A Private Affair" is THE BEST dining experience on the island! Not only is Gordon a wonderful chef, but he is a delightful host!

Enjoy!

You can contact Chef Gordon at his email address which is ChefLCC@cs.com. He gave it to me last Feb. I've been going to HH every Feb. for the last 3 years and have never been able to book "A Private Affair." Gordon is only one person and only one family can do it each evening. He gave me his email address to make sure I contacted him far enough in advance to book it for this Feb. I booked it last week!
I'm not divulging any secrets. He has given his email address to many people and doesn't mind hearing from guests. Also make sure to take whatever cooking class/es he offers during your trip. They are all wonderful. I just hope he is offering them on days when I do not have "A Private Affair" booked. I would never be able to eat all that food!
Have fun!

We had a group of 9 (normally the maximum is 8 guests, but Gordon was nice enough to squeeze in an extra person for us!) at a "Private Affair" in July. It was a blast!

Gordon gives you many menu choices -- for the appetizer, entree, and dessert -- but I'm sure he would do a special request if you asked. The "sides" are usually based upon what you choose as your entree and what is in season.

The dinner is held at Signals, at the beach house -- since we had a beautiful evening, Gordon opened the large doors out to the deck, so we could feel the ocean breeze. It was fantastic!

If you can, do it!!!
