Yes, you can purchase HH directly thru DVC, but I suspect you'll find resale a lot less costly even if you have to pay the closing costs. DVC has not been using ROFR for quite awhile now.

when I called last summer, it was $80 for HHI from DVC with no closing, 25 point minimum. The one caveat to a HHI resale is if they would ever change DVC resale rules again and not let you switch into other DVCs, or make the window a lot less, like 2 months out, etc.---doubtful, but something to consider in the back of your mind.

We're waiting for our paperwork for our 50-pt add-on at HHI....$80/pt direct.

We would have saved about $800 going resale, but waiting for the right size contract with a Feb UY was taking way too much time for my liking. The extra money was worth it for the convenience alone.

The bolded part is an often overlooked consideration. There is certainly a convenience even though the cost might be a little more. You will also get all current points and all points from the next Use Year and no closing costs with the direct purchase, as well as the exact number of points you want and the same Use Year as your master contract.
