Hey guys,

So I just locked in reservations for the Hilton at Disney World and was wondering if it's pretty easy access to Universal Orlando. We'll have a car so I'm anticipating driving. Are there any toll roads along the way or is it a straight shot with no hassle?

We're planning on doing Universal the first day (Wednesday) and then Disney the last couple of days (Thurs-Fri) before we meet up with the rest of my family in Cape Canaveral for the Disney Cruise.

Straight shot up I-4, NO tolls.

FYI - remember you can use the pools over at the Waldorf!

Thanks! Is that the Waldorf Astoria at Bonnet Creek that you're referring to?

I just realized, after researching the hotel more (I know... after I go and make the reservations :confused3 haha), that they charge hefty resort and parking fees. Looks like it totals at least $35 per day!? I used Expedia to book the rooms as well, but it looks like we'll be charged that additional $35 and who knows what else when we get there (or at checkout, rather)

Yes the Waldorf at Bonnet Creek. You are referring to the Hilton at Bonnet Creek, NOT the one at DTD, right?

The Bonnet Creek Hilton has a fantastic pool! We've used the valet, since the parking deck is huge and far away from the hotel entrance.

I stayed at the Hilton DTD on our last trip - lovely hotel with great staff and we walked to DTD for meals at nighttime so we could have a few drinks. However, the high price of parking put us off staying there again, it added so much to the cost and was so frustrating!

I agree. However, I was looking around at the pricing on other comparable hotels and it seems all similar. Most hotels seem to charge either a resort fee (inclusive of parking) or a parking fee but not both. Or if they do charge both, it's certainly not as high as Hilton! $35!!! You've gotta be kidding me. You'd think the "resort fee" for the Hilton would include parking too....:confused3

I got a really good rate on the base price for the Hilton, but the resort and parking fees make it substantially more. Regardless, I think it still ends up coming out cheaper than any other hotels in the same area (definitely less than the Disney-branded hotels). I wanted to cancel the reservations because of the resort fees but once I started looking around, I realized it's unavoidable and you'll end up paying the piper one way or another. So we'll just stick with it and see how things go.

BTW: what do you guys typically do as far as snacking throughout the day - just buy at the park? Or bring your own stuff in, etc. I hear there's a Walmart not too far away.

Actually, I am referring to the Hilton at Downtown Disney - sorry if I got the naming off.
