Its time to make the list of who can do the most damage if I vote for him. They both scare me. The war must end which is the only plus I see for Obama.

While I totally get what you are saying and I even agree with it to a point, I just can not vote for Obama.

I have given him a long/hard look. I have research him and the more I do that the less I feel I can support him (maybe I shouldn't have researched him)
But I can not throw my support behind the man.
I have been tired of the party loyalty thing. If I don't feel safe with WHO I am voting for then that person will not get my vote.

I guess the one good thing this election taught me was party loyalty isn't important, look at how the DNC and even Democrats have treated the Clintons.

I will vote who I feel can lead the Country the safest, right now Obama is at the bottom of my list. I can't give a yes or no to McCain (yet). I am just really hoping a great Independent comes out of the woodworks that I can vote for.

Now if Obama takes Hillary has his running mate? God, I don't know what I would do!!!!! I would have to make a HUGE and HARD decision because it still would not change how I do not feel Obama can keep this Country safe!

What a a huge disappointment this election turned out to be :worried:

I agree a lot with your post. I, too, have researched him. I do not say that I will not vote for him because I'm upset that my selected candidate wasn't chosen; I say I will not vote for the man because I've actually been digging and seeing what kind of person this man is and I honestly don't feel he will do a good job running this country. A lot of his connections, a lot of his views, scare me. He also shows to have a weak character in how he plays the political game and an astounding arrogance that will do nothing but get him into trouble, which in turn will get this country into trouble.

My conscious will not allow me to vote for a man such as this. I don't yet know if I'm voting for McCain. I'm currently being opened minded and will begin learning about McCain to see if he is a man that I can vote for.

I understand your frustration with the party loyalty thing. I will never go with one party, I will look at each election and choose who I think, over all, will be the best for this country in which we live in.

All I keep thinking is, one reason George W. Bush was elected was because of too many people that were loyal to one party and didn't look at both candidates to see who would be best for this country over all.

Topics such as abortion: It's never going to change as it currently is. The Dem's scare each other by saying: If a Republican is in the White House then abortion will become illegal. The Republicans scare each other by saying: If a Democrat is in the White House than there will be abortion clinics on every street corner.

Well, we’ve had a very conservative Republican in the White House for the last eight years and abortion is still legal.

I care for the overall quality of this country and I honestly don’t believe Obama to be a man that will do this country any good.

Sending yet more men and women to be killed in Iraq is inevitable if a Rep is elected. We're at nearly 5,000 dead, now. I shudder to think what many years more of that war will bring.
Bush or McCain-their goals are the same. :sad2:

I know in the coming weeks Hillary supporters have much sincere thinking to do. I truly hope this issue has a prominent place in those careful thoughts.

It's been in the forefront of my thoughts since all of this started. I have a 15 year old DS and the talk about going after Iran chills me. The troops are stretched so thin in Iraq as it is, how can they add Iran without instituting the draft?

Now, if DS wants to join the service when he is of age, I will freak out and then stand aside. But I do hope things are much different in three years. :worried:

I hope things are different, too. My DH flew in the first gulf war. I know firsthand how hard it is. I totally understand sometimes war is necessary. THIS particular war, though, just never met the mark at the time it was begun.

I also have a 15 y.o. son and an almost 14 y.o. too.

The older one is quite clear about his intentions to join the military :scared1: although I am steering him toward the Navy as I feel that branch is a wee bit less dangerous.

It does weigh on my decision this election.

Why is it that the media and some OS says that to have Hillary on the ticket is the same as having Bill on the ticket as VP...but when having Michelle on the ticket with Obama as the first lady is not the same because she is not running to be POTUS :confused3

Well Bill would not be VP just as Michelle would not be POTUS...yes IMO they both play an important sounding board to there spouses....

but I find a double standard that Michelle ..well that's okay but well Bill that is another....

dont the media ever hear themselves talk...geesh

IMO Michelle does not help Obama in this campaign with her remarks...just as Bill has not helped Hillary and they both need to go .....shhhhhhhh

Bill has already sat in the oval office. Once you govern you can't cede power easily. It's like trying to stop mothering when the kdis reach 18...;)

Bill wouldn't be in the Oval Office. He's be in that odd shaped building (the name escapes me).

Hillary isn't going to let Bill do or decide anything if she is VP. I'm totally confident that she's not like that. Besides, I still like Bill and think it's sad that so many Libs have turned on him.

Here are the facts: You're one Supreme Court justice from overturning Roe v Wade. There will be, at least, 1-2 openings in the Supreme Court in the next 4 years. Who do you want appointing those justices: a man who believes in a woman's privacy and the right to make her own decisions (Obama)? Or a man who doesn't (McCain).

A woman's right to privacy has changed drastically in the last few years. Go ahead and look at the landscape.

My fellow Hillary supporters.....my heart is breaking tonight.....breaking....

I'm crying here............

I've been thinking about you guys. I know it's a tough time. I just wanted to say sorry for the way things are going. I enjoyed reading your thread and posting occasionally.

You are a good group.

Thank you Planogirl
Just wait and see how it all plays out. It hopefully won't be as bad as it looks right now. Yes, Obama is going to be the nominee but that doesn't mean our girl has been kicked to the curb, at least not yet.

I will admit abortion is not an important issue for me because even though I am a Dem, I do not really believe in abortion. Only in those certain cases do I think abortin is OK (rape, incest, mother's health) otherwise I do have issues with abortion.
But I find it so hard to believe legaly abortion would be so easily overturned as certain people like to make it sound.
But in any case the abortion guilt will not work on this Democrat puckerup:

As far as the war, yes that is a concern but we also have to withdraw the SMART way. The leader has think how/when to get us out of Iraq. It will not be easy and lives could be put at risk if we withdraw a sloppy way.
So although I know Obama has said he will withdraw troops, I feel is too inexperience and naive to be playing with war.
Yes it would be wonderful if we could just round up all the troops and bring them home....NO MATTER WHO IS PRESIDENT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN LIKE THAT!!!
Obama has even said he will keep some troops in Iraq to protect the Embassy. He also said if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda. Doesn't sound like totally ending the war, which people seem to believe.

If anyone think al Qaeda is in the past then they are truly more naive then even Obama.

So I will not vote for Obama because of the war (I don't think he can deal with it successfully), abortion (not a huge issue for me), economy (well Obama or McCain don't know much about it so what does it matter)?

Obama will not get my vote because of the man I have read about and heard speak. I don't like what I have read about him and what has come out of his mouth.

I have also decided I will make sure the people around me really know the kind of politician Obama is, not just how the media paints him!

It is hard to swallow that the one nominee who (as of this writing) of all 3 finalist had the most popular votes, will not be in the final running.

That is politics!:headache:

If I was in Hillary's inner circle, I would tell her to tell the DNC to kiss my behind and run Independant! In a GE if they all get the same votes as they did in the Primary She wins!

A very sad, yet historical (since they keep mentioning this over & over & over on the news) day for the US!

Money is the problem DisUnc. Hillary is already broke and there's no way she could mount an independent candidacy. It does sound good though, doesn't it? :thumbsup2

So I'm sitting here listening to MSNBC and I'm trying hard not to throw crap at the TV.

They're saying that the deal that's being worked is that Hillary will be offered the VP but she'll have to refuse it, to make the people happy. This will not make me happy. I am not happy to see the person with the most votes is bowing out to let someone who makes my skin crawl be the nominee for the democratic party. I am not sure what I will do come November, chances are I will not vote for Obama, I will write someone else in. If I were in a state that required me to be registered with a party I would be a registered independent as of today. I'm so angry with the DNC - they've blown it this year. 2000 was a screw up, 2004 was a screw up, and they screwed it up before we even made it to November. Thanks but no. :furious:

I really wish she would tell the DNC to go you know where and to kiss her you know what on the way out ;) :lmao:

Oh Obama and his team would be in an uproar if Hillary ran as an Independent. They would know it would be over for Obama....Man...that would be GREAT!!!! :thumbsup2

But I very much doubt Hillary will do that to her politicial career. I think running as a Independent would ruin it. :(

I still predict
we will see President McCain in November and Hillary will be back in 2012 ::yes::

NOW... if Hillary is the VP, then I could see Obama winning the Presidency but only if Hillary is on the ticket otherwise President McCain it will be
