Hillary Supporters unite part 2; no bashing please

However, many, many, many Hillary supporters (not just on this thread, but IRL) will not support Obama. Now, you can all go back to your thread and bash us there, but your candidate does not have the votes necessary to win in November without us. Just remember that.

so who would you (or anyone else in that situation) vote for if Obama is the D-candidate in Nov? McCain? A third-part candidate? Just not vote at all?

just curious on the thought process....

Hi folks.

I'm venturing back into the world.

I've tried to catch up with this thread in the hours I couldn't sleep or didn't know what to do with myself.

Thank you to those who offered prayers and well wishes for my family.

We are slowly easing back into life without Mom. Her two grandchildren (my nephews) have been a tremendous help - encouraging us to tell them all the wonderful "Nana" stories we can remember.

We asked for an autopsy, as they could never really tell us what she "had" - just that her lungs were filled with some sort of fluid that they couldn't get rid of. The preliminary autopsy was inconclusive. They don't know if they'll ever know....... Poor Mom.

As to all the "political discussions" (and whatever happened to the "no bashing" request)- I can't really get into now as I once did.

To those that think this thread doesn't have true democrats in it - you'd be wrong - I am a lifelong democrat - who even voted for Mondale.

I don't know if I'll be able to vote for Obama. Because let's face it - he's supposed to be inspiring hope and change - yet many of his supporters take that as carte blanche to be vicious, mean and downright cruel to people - especially those who are supposed to be on their own "team" (democrats) that don't like him. If that is inspiration - I want no part of it.

I'm curious though as to how he thinks he can heal the party. Obama's people called our house the day after Mom passed. Rather than tell them no way I won't vote for you - I told them it wasn't a good time to talk. I may just have a heart to heart with them when they call again - to tell them why I have reservations about their candidate.

.

I had to recheck what thread I was in for a moment. I see mostly a McCain supporter arguing with a OS which is a bit surreal. It's an interesting argument though.

Right, so I fit the description of a Hillary supporter which allows me to post on this thread.

I know, and I thought it was sickening. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school until the 8th grade, had my kids baptized in the Catholic church, got married there, etc, but I stopped being Catholic, if one can just stop, LOL, quite some time ago, and it was way before the priest scandals. I just didn't agree with alot of their teachings, so couldn't support saying I was Catholic any longer.

I have no doubt that Trinity church has done many good things, but that doesn't excuse the behavior that goes on there by their pastors, their guests, and the congregation regarding hatred and predjudice. You believe it was a few isolated incidences, I don't. One time is too many in my book. Let's see, weren't members of the Ku Klux Klan also doctors, lawyers, clergy, etc.? I'm sure they did many good things over the years, but it doesn't excuse what they believed behind closed doors.

Um, haven't seen the Trinity church burning crosses or lynching anyone or advocating that have you? I know its convenient politically to compare a black preacher who is angry at the way blacks are treated to the KKK, but how about some intellectual honesty here?

The Trinity church has done a lot for the community - have you gone to their website and seen what they do to help poor people in their community? To disregard all the good they do because of a few insane comments from the preacher is a huge injustice and do you condemn every church that has a preacher that says some offensive things? By that token should the whole Catholic church be held accountable for what that Priest said at the Trinity church? He may have not been speaking in the Catholic church but wearing the priest garb while doing it made him a spokesman for Catholics...

I am a Catholic and that man does not speak for me. I have never seen a priest behave that way in my life. God loves Hillary as much as anyone else and he had NO right to speak of her that way.

I think the Archbishop made it pretty darn clear in his statement what he thought of the whole episode and that it does NOT represent the Catholic church.

As has Obama, but he is still held responsible for what that idiot priest said, isn't he?

I think it is now too late for healing. If the Democratic party nominates Obama, they will have handed the presidency to McCain. Now, of course, knowing McCain, he is perfectly capable of blowing himself up prior to the election. Heck, maybe Ron Paul will get elected. ;)

Hey Pumpkin, Planogirl .. do you see anything?

I don't see anything posted here.. maybe the OS are just posting nothing on the Hillary thread and took it back to the OS thread like I politely asked them to.

I knew you were going to say that, LOL. I was actually going to address that in my post and say in that way you can't compare the two, because I knew you would point that out, but felt my post was already getting too long. Yes, I know in that regard they are no where near the same, not even on the same planet, but the sentiment is the same. It made me feel so bad listening to those comments made by Wright, but the comments Pfleger said made me feel even worse, and then to see the congregation laughing and slapping their knees, etc. There is still no excuse for that type of behavior, especially in church. It feeds negativity and separateness. There is not one positive thing about it. Regardless of what was done to whom when, there is no room for that kind of talk anywhere. It breeds more separateness.

Actually, I don't hold Obama responsible for that particular rant. But there does seem to be the pattern of a mindset coming out of that church. I'm glad he quit.

Sorry, but you don't own the thread. And I am a Democratic supporter before I am an Obama supporter and a supporter of Hillary running, staying in the race and her candidacy should she get the nomination.

Absolutely. That was as disturbing as the "sermon" itself.

You did not vote for her in the primary -you will not vote for her in the general. That is not support. If a position of Hillary as a lesser evil is welcome in this thread than I fit that catergory because I find Hillary to be the lesser evil to McCain, which you do not.

I don't want to fan the flames, but I will respond. I would rather Hillary win. Both Hillary and Obama have a good shot at winning given who gets the nod. I would rather Hillary win. I'd rather see her as President. I stated earlier I'm looking at the big picture, but you were rather dismissive about that. Lesser evil is your choice of words. I'm not completely thrilled with any of the candidates.

The difference between OS and I is simple. I like Hillary. I see the mistreatment she has endured during the campaign from the start to now. I don't agree with it. I like the HS and I am respectful to them. And they are respectful to me. I read their comments and gain perspective. I don't badger them and degrade them. I don't run over them and talk down to them. I don't think I know better than they do.

Politics and one's views are personal. It serves no purpose to shove ideas down people's throats and degrade them because they don't think like you (the general you).

;) I see McCain and Obama supporters posting. Maybe we can have a Hillary discussion around their threadcra**ing.

I like Hillary too, but I do not like how she has run her campaign. I am not bashing Hillary or her supporters. If people choose to see it that way, that is not my problem.
My comments have all been in response to other non Hillary supporting people. If you will not vote for her in a primary or general than you do not support her.
