We will see. It s a long time until the convention. :cool2:

No, we won't. :teeth: You can have your own opinions on who is the better candidate and all of that, but you don't get to have your own facts. By every measure that may actually mean something - states won, delegates pledged, and popular vote - Obama is beating Hillary. You may believe that the convention will somehow change that, and you may even be right about that. But it is an undeniable fact, not an opinion, that Obama leads by every measure, and will continue to do so regardless of how tomorrow's primaries come out.

I will ask one question of all of the people on this thread, however. Hillary's argument is that "the rules" somehow work against her, is that correct? If that is true, then answer me this: the largest - by far - group of undeclared super delegates consists mostly of DNC party officials appointed by Howard Dean. These are the people that made those rules. So...do you honestly expect them to throw away the rules that Hillary agreed to way back when all this was getting started, just because she is losing?

You mean, like the ones in the rather large state that didn't even have Obama's name on the ballot? Without counting Michigan, she's still losing, even if you include Florida, which nobody does because...well, we've been over that already.

C'mon...you guys don't really take that argument seriously, do you? I know for a fact that the DNC doesn't, and that's where the biggest block of undecided supers happens to come from.

I agree with you on Michigan, but they were both in the ballot for FL. including or not including FL is a technicality. The reality is that each an every one of those Florida votes were cast by a real, living person who choose the candidate s/he wanted. Those voters picked Hillary, and they can deliver the state to the dems in Nov.Those people exist, regardless what the DNC says. It's stupid for the DNC to pretend otherwise.

As to the talk of Obama conceding....umm...you do realize he's winning, don't you, regardless of what happens tomorrow?

Did you even read the post? Even if he wins the nom, BO has no chance of winning the GE. I doubt that he wants to be a losing candidate. Conceding would give him a chance to regroup and com stronger in the future. That would be the smartest thing for him to do.

What facts are we discussing here? The only fact is that neither Obama nor Clinton have enough delegates to cinch the nomination. Therefore both of them have arguments they can make to the superdelegates who will decide the nomination. The truth is that neither Florida nor Michigan need to be seated for Clinton to make the argument that she won the most votes of those cast. The delegates have to consider who can win the election in November and I think that your candidate is looking a whole lot weaker than mine right now. Just my opinion of course.

I'm sorry, but that is your opinion, not a fact. The only clues we have at this point as to the general election are polls, and by every poll out there (that I've seen, at least), Obama and Hillary both beat McCain nationwide, and on a state-by-state basis the margin is considerably wider.

If you really want to get into an "electability" argument, please start another thread and I'd be glad to discuss it. My only statement would be that when you look at the unfavorables of both candidates, I don't think you can come to the conclusion you are claiming.

We were discussing the fact that Obama is leading in every measurable statistic, which means that in order for Hillary to win, the Super Delegates would have to say to the person leading, "Sorry...congrats on winning more states, more delegates, and more votes, but we're making her our nominee." I'm sorry, but I just don't see that happening.

And you're perfectly entitled to your opinion (no matter how wrong it may be ;) (please don't take that seriously...I really was just joking)).

Ok...I'll go away and leave your thread to you guys again. Just thought I'd interject when I saw incorrect statements being made.

Hi revy!

Nice new digs here. The only thing I feel that I know for sure about politics is that nothing is ever for sure. I say let it play out but until then let's support our candidate. :)

We were discussing the fact that Obama is leading in every measurable statistic

I dispute that fact. Hillary won more of the votes cast; Hillary won more of the states that could possibly be "in play" in the general; Hillary has been gaining momentum since February and Obama has been floundering...all facts, but not the ones you want to focus on.

The glaring fact that I see, is that many of the Obama folk were calling for Hillary to back out ages ago because she didn't have a chance in hell. Things have turned around a bit now. Hillary does indeed have a chance and it's not nearly as nice when the shoe is on the other foot, is it? In fact, it's looking less promising for Obama in the next few primaries (according to polls.) Let's face it. Neither are going to have enough delegates with out the SDs. So let's sit back, try to play nice, enjoy the race and see what happens. No need to pick at each other and fight. We'll all need to pull together in the end. :hippie:

Nice in theory but I've heard that a few OS might just campaign for McCain. Of course, a few here have threatened to switch too.

Come on guys, let's hang together!

No...really? :lmao:

I may not vote for Obama if he gets the nom, but actually campaign for McCain? That's just silly. Who said that? :dance3:

I have already said I will not vote for Obama if he gets the nom. But I will NOT be campaigning for McCain and I certainly won't vote for him.

Campaigning for the other guy because your candidate didn't get the nom is just being hateful.

IMO ;)

Yes, Yes!!!

I don't think that's wishful thinking, not at all -at least he'd go away forever as a presidential candidate. BO is not in this to win the nom and lose the GE. I doubt he is ad deluded as some of his supporters are, and he sees the writing on the wall. So maybe, just maybe he'll conced and hope that in eight years the questions about his lack of experence and about Wright will be a thing of the past.

It could happen!

I have always said Obama isn't stupid, I think he knows he is in trouble. He is losing a lot of ground. This whole Wright thing will NOT go away and will infact get bigger if he does go to the general.

If he was to conced he would gain a lot of respect from me because he is doing what is good for the party!

Obama is not an electable candidate. IMO :)

I'm not sure why anyone would vote for McCain, but hey, that's just me.

Hillary's doing the Top Ten List on Letterman tonight.....

(CNN) – Monday night, Hillary Clinton will deliver the Top Ten list on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ on the reasons she loves America. Barack Obama had his own Top Ten on May 1. Clinton’s appearance was taped in North Carolina on Friday.

Why Hillary Clinton loves America:

10. We have more Dakotas than every other country combined.

9. Canadian bacon: soggy and chewy; American bacon: crisp and delicious!

8. Thanks to the Internet, I can order new pantsuits 24/7. There's your pantsuit joke, Dave. Are you happy now?

7. 232 years and not one cookie shortage.

6. TiVo.

5. Did I mention the soup? Mmm, soup.

4. Did you know former President Teddy Roosevelt was an American?

3. Where else can you get a car painted for $29.95?

2. Is this the part where I say, 'Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!'?

1. Apparently anyone can get a talk show.

1 - Umm...latest polling out west tends to disagree with that first statement.

2 - Hillary's won the popular vote? :lmao:

nice of you to come by and have a good laugh at our candidate in the Hillary thread...god forbid if we went and did that in the Obama thread...you would be all over that!

But than again it's okay for you to do but no one else...hummmm double standards anyone.

Also to add .....through this campaign, Hillary has been growing and changing and has hit second gear....Obama is still the same and has yet to hit second gear. He has not moved up but stayed the same or moved down in the last 2 months,

So take that and chew on it for awhile.:beach: and come back again ya hear:rotfl2:

fact, not an opinion, that Obama leads by every measure, and will continue to do so regardless of how tomorrow's primaries come out.?

Ever hear of the following MUST WIN DEMOCRATIC States NY, NJ, FL, PA, CA, OH, TX ????:rolleyes1
BTW yes he is ahead...for now...and NOT by much.

Ever hear of GOP mischief makers voting in the Open Democratic Primaries (especially super Tuesday) to sway the votes for Obama.
Every hear that in all the CLOSED Democratic primaries Hillary won, except for 2 states.

In a GE do you think that any republican will even consider voting for the most liberal Senator?

Sorry to bust your bubble but most of the still undeclared SD's are party leaders who have been around for years, WITH NO CONSTITUANCIES TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT, who most of were appointed by Ed Rendell.

"He who lives by the rules, Dies by the rules.":rolleyes1
"Rules are meant to be broken"

Thats all they are....stupid rules, that were made out of pure arrogance.
They are not laws. They are not engraved on Tablets.

Do you honestly believe that they cant count FL & MI, with NO backlash whatsoever?:confused3

You do realize the RNC had the same problem, and just awarded half the delegates. Dean, just went ballistic and cut them all off. Very UnAmerican.:sad2:

I second that lilyv. :goodvibes

Well guys I'm going to be out of pocket all day tomorrow. My daughter has a big performance tomorrow. So between her and Hillary, I'm going to be a nervous wreck all day!

I'll be checking in late - I'm sure it will be to celebrate!

I for one have no problem with our thread's visitors from other camps. :confused3 If they want to come by and have a civil discussion I think that's great. I just don't like the laughing at us (with us is okay), cutting us down, or the Hillary bashing. There are plenty of other thread for that kind of activity. Most of us play nice until we're pushed.
