Anyone catch Bill Maher tonight?

I thought it was a great discussion - and he had a good "New Rule" on Hillary staying in the race....

So now Dean has said pretty much the same thing about Mich as Fla. They are committed to seating the delegates. It's up to the candidates to agree. My guess it's also up to the states to have input. I'd guess the states are going to lean towards Clinton. And at least in Fla the case can be made pretty strongly if the DNC seats the delegates from that state and it's at any way based on the orig. vote (which most people in the Florida dem party were saying) you have to count the votes towards the popular vote.

This was something that had to happen. They could not go to Denver with 48 states. What they thought was going to happen was someone was going to be a clear winner and they could just release the two states delegates after the primaries were over but before Denver. Instead the DNC could make the two states they were trying to punish become two of the major players in deciding the parties nomination.

With Fla's votes now in the mix there have been some projections of Hill ending the primary season up by near half million in the popular vote. As goofy as the whole system is, the popular vote winner might now come down to people in Puerto Rico who can't even vote in the general election. Fitting.

I don't know how the candidates are supposed to come to an agreement. If you were Obama would you give Hillary a single extra vote even if she did win the election in Fla? Hillary, OTOH needs those votes to survive. She is not going to agree to anything less that full proportional representation for the FL votes. There MUST be a brokered deal.

Right. Obama already proposed seating MI's delagates 50\50. Why its like an election didn't occur there! ;)

He still wouldn't have won it at the time it was held even if his name was on the ballot. I think the original results were like 55 Clinton 45 Other (Obama - since he took his name off the ballot)

There's going to be hard feelings around this nomination no matter what happens.....

But now Dean is on record saying he wants to seat them and wants a deal. The best thing for Clinton's camp would be to have a bunch of people show up in both states to ask what they (the states) want to see the process end as quick as possible. Florida already sent notice to the DNC that they expect their results to stand from the vote in Jan. I don't know about Michigan. If that's what the people want, and the DNC wants a deal, and HC's people are in the state ready to settle this thing, it's a losing position for Obama to fight it too long, or try to take the 50/50 split. He can't win Florida in Nov. if he pushes too hard.

This is why it was bad advice for Obama's people to not push for a revote in both states thinking she'd be out by now. I believe they're still hoping for a knockout in Penn. even though they won't say it.

Hmm.

About a knockout in PA, I don't think Obama's people think he can get it. They have already said that if he loses by less than 10 points, they will consider it a victory. No, they have to be prepared to lose PA. They are hoping for an overwhelming win in NC (black vote) and Indiana (Ill border spillover).

I love it, Florida seems to be the most messed up place on the planet electorally. They can give Zimbabwe a run for it's money. ;)

Florida has really turned into a boondoggle. I'd agree to ignore their vote if they promise to never play again. ;)

I still believe that a revote is the most fair way to handle this.

Florida officials have said "no revote" It will not happen at this late date anyway.

Yeah - Obama's "peeps" have written off Florida already. They think he can win the presidency without it.

If he's the nominee - I don't see how he's going to win any more states that Kerry and Gore did. Hillary would have a shot at FL and OH.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out......

I just posted this on the "Tax Return" thread. This is just one of the reasons I believe she will make a wonderful president
