Obama and Hillary are saying not to vote McCain.....they are trying to heal the party by saying that we all need to come together not matter which of them gets the nod.

Along those lines, I was watching her in IN today (or was it NC?), and she was saying that there are differences between her and Obama but they pale in comparison to McCain and that the party will be unified behind the nominee. I thought it was an important statement to make, given the veracity of supporters on both sides.

Yup - that's why I am taking a second look at Obama..... though, I really want a "unified" ticket!! They are really close (closer than ever before in modern politics) ..... had to get that in there before you started talking about your math ;)

Just joking with you......

Hillary, reassessed

By Richard M. Scaife

TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Monday, March 31, 2008

Hillary Clinton walked into a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review conference room last Tuesday to meet with some of the newspaper's editors and reporters and declared, "It was so counterintuitive, I just thought it would be fun to do."
The room erupted in laughter. Her remark defused what could have been a confrontational meeting.
More than that, it said something about the New York senator and former first lady who hopes to be America's next president.
More than most modern political figures, Sen. Clinton has been criticized regularly, often harshly, by the Trib. We disagreed with many of her policies and her actions in the past. We still disagree with some of her proposals.

The very morning that she came to the Trib, our editorial page raised questions about her campaign and criticized her on several other scores.

Reading that, a lesser politician -- one less self-assured, less informed on domestic and foreign issues, less confident of her positions -- might well have canceled the interview right then and there.
Sen. Clinton came to the Trib anyway and, for 90 minutes, answered questions.
Her meeting and her remarks during it changed my mind about her.
Walking into our conference room, not knowing what to expect (or even, perhaps, expecting the worst), took courage and confidence. Not many politicians have political or personal courage today, so it was refreshing to see her exhibit both.
Sen. Clinton also exhibited an impressive command of many of today's most pressing domestic and international issues. Her answers were thoughtful, well-stated, and often dead-on.
Particularly regarding foreign policy, she identified what we consider to be the most important challenges and dangers that the next president must confront and resolve in order to guarantee our nation's security. Those include an increasingly hostile Russia, an increasingly powerful China and increasing instability in Pakistan and South America.
Like me, she believes we must pull our troops out of Iraq, because it is time for Iraqis to handle their own destiny -- and, more important, because it is past time to end the toll on our soldiers there, to begin rebuilding our military, and to refocus our attention on other threats, starting with Afghanistan.
On domestic policy, Sen. Clinton and I might find more areas on which we disagree. Yet we also agree on others. Asked about the utter failure of federal efforts to rebuild New Orleans since the Katrina disaster, for example, she called it just what it has been -- "not just a national disgrace (but) an international embarrassment."
Does all this mean I'm ready to come out and recommend that our Democrat readers choose Sen. Clinton in Pennsylvania's April 22 primary?
No -- not yet, anyway. In fairness, we at the Trib want to hear Sen. Barack Obama's answers to some of the same questions and to others before we make that decision.
But it does mean that I have a very different impression of Hillary Clinton today than before last Tuesday's meeting -- and it's a very favorable one indeed.
Call it a "counterintuitive" impression.

Wow. Things like that are great to read. I think a lot of people have preconceived ideas about her and don't really give her a chance. She's really intelligent and she's got guts.

The article made one of the Obama supporters sick to his stomach..... :confused3

Just for the record, it was the source of the article. Mellon-Scaffe is a jerk, and did his darndest during the 90's to take down the Clinton presidency, including many attacks on Hillary herself. It's kinda like getting praised by Dick Cheney.

I didn't mean anything towards Hillary by that, honestly.

Of course it did. The notion that someone who previously hated everything about Hillary might be willing to take a second objective look makes them sick. Especially since he did find some things that he liked. The article certainly wasn't a love fest but it was one of the more objective ones we've seen from the right.

It will be interesting to see if that article influences some of the more centrist repubs that don't want to vote for McCain.

Lou Dobbs is giving the Press HECK right now over their bias towards of Obama!:thumbsup2

Just a interesting story. (imo)

I had taken my Mom to her Dr's today. There was a elderly man, and a elderly couple in the waiting room. Being this is PA and CNN was on the TV in the waiting room, we all started talking politics.

The elderly couple were lifelong Republicans, who switched to Democrats last year! They HATE W, and even more so McCain. Both feel etremely duped & bad cause they voted for him in 2004.
Both are voting for Hillary come Apr 22. Like many of us here there they tink Obama is a load. They also hate Kerry & Kennedy, and that is why they wont vote for Obama, since they both are backing Obama.

The Elderly man wo came here from Italy 60 years ago, is ACTIVELY campaigning for Hillary. Whew...it was a ACTIVE 25 minutes waiting in the Drs office.:lmao:

So what do you think DISUNC, can Hillary pull PA out with 75%? ;)

YUP she can! Its real early and ALOT can happen, BUT i wouldnt be suprised with a Clinton 80 & Obama 20.

Obama is playing commercials every 15 minutes here. Really stereotypical politian (i will cut taxes, I will create jobs, sleeves rolled up, lots of pics of his white side of the family) commercials. He is heavliy promoting that his white grandfather is a WW2 vet!:confused3 As if people will vote for him because of that!!!!!!

Also, he now has Bob Casey supporting him. I heard on one news cast....."The Beloved Bob Casey..." I :rotfl2: :rotfl2: when I heard this...cause Bob Casey is not excatly loved here in PA. Like Obama he is a newbie, and not really making anyone take notice of him.

Bob casey pretty much ran for every possible office in the past 10 years, From Governor to Dog catcher until he finally one the senate his opponent was Rick Santorum.:rolleyes1

Casey is VERY PRO LIFE and is trying to overturn Roe v Wade!

Saw my first Hillary commercial today in HD.

I was looking at some of the polls from PA and they are all over the place. Some of them do give Clinton a 28% lead. I sure hope it goes that way.

I was out on Sunday in a local diner, with affluent diners there. Two out of the three tables surrounding me were talking about Hillary and Obama - and how they were not going to vote for Obama if Hillary didn't win. Thought that was interesting that I heard it in "real life" as opposed to on line.

my parents truley hate obama, and if he gets in they will not vote at all. I dislike him but I don't think he will do any worse that Mccain. We need a democrat in office in order to get things changed. Even Obama and Hillary said vote for who ever gets in.

Watch the dates the polls were taken. There have not been many taken in the past week.:confused3
