Has nutin to do w/ Hillary or Barack.....IT's FL & MI votes not being counted is the REAL problem. And the DNC leaders rather see Hillary drop out so this problem will "go away".

That is the root of all the problems. Shameful!

I think our best hope is that the party will somehow broker a deal that will be at least palatable to most of us. Of course, the zealots will never accept Hillary no matter what she does but I think that most supporters are just caught up in the moment and will settle down once all of this has been resolved.

Then we can get to the really important business of mopping the floor with the Republican candidate.

On my way to work a Hillary Supporter was on a corner in Clifton Heights PA with Hillary signs....it has started! I beeped & gave him the He said thanks. It was a young guy.

Yay for you. I can not tell you how great it feels when you stand on the corner and someone finally honks!

Of course, the zealots will never accept Hillary no matter what she does but I think that most supporters are just caught up in the moment and will settle down once all of this has been resolved.

I hope you are right. Because right now I cannot even imagine voting for Obama. I loathe him more everyday. I absolutely cannot see myself voting for McCain. But not voting or writing in a candidate seems a lot more likely.

I am really praying for a brokered deal. Even a third candidate - as long as the ticket doesn't include Obama I can accept it.

I am so offended by the whole "God Damn America" thing that I cannot think straight. I always thought I could vote for Obama if he got the nod until that little tidbit. I am not sure at this point what I will do. I guess I am more of a flag waiving patriot than I thought.

I try to remember Obama didn't say it though.

I can even understand the preacher's anger about racism. What I have trouble digesting is how he's supposed to be a preacher for Christianity - and no way would Jesus have said those things......

Its the overall problem with religion - most of them believe that "our way is the only way" and are in a symbolic fight to get to heaven......

I promised myself I wouldn't post to this thread anymore, but....There is a thread floating around in which CathrynRose posted the entire sermon that "G-D America" was taken from. I would really encourage everyone to go and read that sermon, as the quoted part isn't reflective of the message that the sermon gives. I'm not defending Wright's use of that phrase, as I think it was wrong to do that in that setting. But please...go read it for yourself before you judge it, because it is much different in context than when played as a solitary clip.

You know there's something I don't understand. I heard an extended clip of the "God **** America Sermon" when the story originally broke. In all honesty, in that context is didn't sound nearly as bad. At least part of the ministers comments were quotes from an American ambassador talking about American's pidgeons coming home to roost after 9/11.

But there was nothing in the transcript posted today about the ambassador. So apparently this minister has made the "God D America" comment more then once. I wonder how often that concept is expressed?

I read it. This is what I said about it and why I still have a problem with it.

I think it is a very powerful sermon. (Personally - I would find it even more powerful if I believed in God or Jesus Christ.)

However - to me - that is what makes the "sound bites" even more dangerous. If you are rolling along, agreeing with a lot of very well made points - it makes it that much harder to pick out and stand up to the ones that are questionable/wrong. Adults have a hard time with this - children would not be able to make the distinction at all. And so the tainted facts/story/image keeps getting passed on.

Kidding...please put down the torches and pitchforks. Actually, I agree with your comment. I was just trying to point our that, while that part of the sermon is absolutely objectionable and deserves condemnation both for the setting and for the poor way it was delivered (the point could have been expressed in a much better way, I mean), in context the overall message of the sermon was a very positive one.

But I don't wanna get into the point of defending Wright. In my opinion, he's the exact type of leader in the African American community that has been more problem-causing than problem-solving. To quote a certain presidential candidate, "Words are important." Unfortunately, Wright - just like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farakhan, and so many others have done - used rhetoric that does more to inflame anger than to inspire hope and a sense of unity.

Ok...backing away slowly from this thread so you guys can have it back. Just wanted to say that I do agree with you on this.

I am catching up on this thread after getting sucked back into the Liberal Thread, LOL. I've been sitting out ALL of the political threads for the last week or two.

I totally agree with both if you. I am usually not a "If you're not with us, you're against us" kind of girl, but in this case ... If you don't vote for the democratic nominee (be that Clinton or Obama) then you are voting against the democratic party and ideals. IMO if you write in someone else or vote for McCain then you might as well stop calling yourself a "Democrat" and start calling yourself an "Independent" or "Republican".

MyManGoofy! you are certainly entitled to vote for whoever you want in the General Election, but don't come whining to the real Democrats if McCain gets in because of people who won't vote for Obama or Clinton. I firmly believe that the Nader fringe candidacy helped keep Gore out of office 8 years ago, so even a small percentage of people who don't vote for the democrat may keep that democrat out of of office.

Yes, I understand it was over the top rhetoric. Believe me I get it, but it is still despicable and anyone who listened to this type of drivel for 20 years and did and said nothing, does not have the judgment and discernment to be president. Particularly if the man making the statements is then elevated to "moral compass" status.

I will tell you what I told many of my friends and colleagues that voted for Nader in 2000. As an American citizen you are entitled to vote for whomever you want. I would never want to guilt anyone into going against their own judgment.

Instead of throwing the smack down on me - maybe you should ask what the Democratic Party could do to keep my vote. Keep in mind - for me - it is not just about Hillary getting the nom. I am also totally pissed at this Party for the way they handled the "punishment" of the State Party over the primary here in Florida. So - believe me when I say I will not whine to anyone.

Thanks! I think it was a very powerful sermon and like MyManGoofy!! I would think it even more powerful if I believed in god. I never had a problem with Wright's "God Damn America" statement before. If God can "bless" American than he can "damn" it too IMO.

I understand where you are coming from and I do share your concerns. The thing is, for some of us it's not just us "being in a snit because our fav didn't get the nom,"

I realize that you like Obama but some of us don't. And when I say we don't like him, I don't mean hold your nose and vote variety. I mean we flat out think he would be a danger to this country. So how do we reconcile that? I think McCain is a danger, I think Obama is a danger.

And for the record I've donated enough of my time and money to the DNC I'm comfortable in my status as a Dem.

I promise not to respond, but may I ask why you think Obama is a "danger" to this country? You do realize that he's got nearly the same experience in the Senate that Hillary has, correct? And that he's a constitutional scholar that would drop over dead before he pulled the kinds of stunts that Shrub has pulled in the Oval Office?

I can understand someone saying that they don't think he has enough experience on the national scene. But constantly saying how much of a "danger" he is? That part, I just don't get.
