I have ask all the Hillary supporters (and yes, I am an Obama supporter) - does it bother you at all how she keeps bring up that both she and McCain have the experience to be Commander in Chief.

If Obama wins the nominations will it rub you at all to hear that soundbite being played for the McCain campaign?

If you a Democrat do you really want the endorsement of someone who is not pro-choice and who went from the straight talk express to the pander to the right to get elected side?

I answered this question in the "liberal thread". If BO wins the nomination, he'll smoke McCain on about 6 issues (just like HC will).

BO has used the "praise my opponent, while I define how i am better/different" strategy all thru the primary season.

Regarding "soundbites" the Right Wingers will hit BO or HC with carpet bombs no matter which candidate is nominated & no matter what is said.

I submit that most independent voters watching this (& most superdelegates) are going to assess how well the campaigns are able to take a punch & how well they counterpunch.

Hopefully this topic of can resume in the Liberal thread instead of the HC thread where we all prefer to discuss her favorite books & her favorite 70s rock bands. ;)

It certainly bothers me that Samantha Power said that. She has, rightly, apologized. Everyone really needs to keep their heads right now and not let their frustrations get the best of them.

Agreed. Muzzles for all the loose canons in both camps. (& I'm looking at you.... Mark Penn & Wolfson dude.)

& can't BO send Sharpton off on voter drive in Western North Dakota or somewhere.....his comments aren't helping BO & they are starting to annoy. (& I like Big Al when he's on his game.)

Does it bother you that Obama staffers are calling Hillary a monster? How will you feel when that little tidbit is all over the ads after Hillary gets the nomination?

I wasn't talking about Hillary's staff - I was talking about Hillary herself singing the praises of John McCain.

Certainly staffers on both sides are getting crazy - the Obama supporter calling Hillary a monster was wrong as was the Clinton aide comparing Obama to Ken Starr.

However, I don't think Obama has said anything that will be showing up in McCain ads the way Hillary's remarks are sure to. Nothing like giving the Republicans a little ammunition. It really feels "tacky" and "sleazy" to me to hear Hillary praising McCain.

Interesting, when a lot of people on the Obama thread keep forgetting that.

.

Why do you assume that everyone on the Obama thread is a Democrat?

I personally am independant....I tend to lean mostly dem but will not vote for someone just because the party says I should.

When hillary says she has a life time of experience and mccain has a lifetime of experience...but obama only has "A" speech , that upsets me.... he has many interesting experiences and opinions....she should ?? if they are the right ones..not dismiss him!!

Even if you don't want Obama for Pres. this year....you must acknowledge that he is a valuable asset to the Dem party.... ripping him to shreds WILL chase away all of the new folks he is bringing to the party!!!!!

(sorry to come out of lurkdom... but i was one of the folks on the other thread who said right now i would not vote hillary if she gets the nom, so I thought this was important to say)

About the McCain comparisons. I want a Democrat in office, be it Hillary or Obama and I can't for the life of me figure out why Hillary thinks comparing herself to McCain is a good idea. If people's main reason for voting is for a Commander-in-Chief, then guess what? McCain wins hands down against ANY Democratic candidate. In fact Republicans will always win hands down when national security is the big issue. If Democrats win this election it will because people are tired of our troops being in Iraq and tired of ever-climbing gas, grocery and heating prices. It is absolutley stupid for Hillary to be comparing herself to McCain on this issue. It will hurt her in the general election much more than it can possible help her in the primary.

And yes, Obama's aid should not have called Hillary monster.

I don't really see how the Ken Starr comment can be compared to the "She's a monster" comment.

The Obama camp is demanding Hillary release papers that she's not legally required to release at this stage of the process. So yes, they are acting a bit like Ken Starr - investigating things they really don't have a right to investigate. But calling another human being a monster? Yeah that's really on par with calling someone Ken Starr.

Considering that Obama's campaign is on record as calling Hillary "Punjab" and "Monster" I think think they've got a lot of gall to be acting as though they've taken the high road.

Will Hillary's comment's come back and bite her? I don't know maybe. But she's politicially savvy enough to counter them when/if it becomes necessary.

Did this turn into a debate thread? I guess it's inevitable.

I personally think that neither side should be jabbing at one another but that's just me. I guess that's inevitable too.

Well that's basically what the Texas Caucus was like.
-they check our voter card to make sure we had voted.....

So you had to vote in the primary to be able to take part in the caucus? That's even weirder than I thought. Doesn't that mean that everyone at the caucus got more than one vote for delegates? Something about that doesn't seem at all fair to those of us who only got one vote. I really don't see why any delegates are awarded from the caucus?

I wonder just who, in Texas, we could contact about these caucuses. Really, I do see the need for them from the standpoint of selecting delegates to local, state and national conventions, but I think to actually base how many votes a potential presidential nominee gets on "who" attended those caucuses is ridiculous, considering we had a full vote during the day. The caucuses should be about forming the planks of the party platform, not about changing the vote of the people.

I'd much rather see a closed primary here, where we register Dem, Rep, Ind or whatever and then must vote in that primary, no crossovers possible without re-registering. Other states do this, it works well.

Exactly! We have a closed primary in Oklahoma. You can change parties ahead of time if you want to vote in the other primary. Otherwise you announce your party, they check the books, you vote for your candidate of choice from your party's ballot. Keep the caucus if you want, but have it be nothing to do with delegate counts.

I agree. She isn't endorsing him. She's doing exactly what people have been calling for her to do. She's setting up to calmly draw attention to their differences. You don't have to be enemies with your opponent. It is possible to debate without mudslinging. I'd want to come out peacefully so when the mud started to fly I could say he started it. Trust me, she's got plenty of things she can say that people will agree with. She's smart enough to know that it'll get ugly on their side first.

And yet many of you are ripping Hillary to shreds. Can't you see that maybe you're chasing us away? Or don't you care? Sorry you don't feel you can join with us if we win. Our country's loss. If the Democrat's lose it's 4 more years with a Republican.

Considering that Obama's campaign is on record as calling Hillary "Punjab" and "Monster" I think think they've got a lot of gall to be acting as though they've taken the high road.

I SO agree. It's fine for them to attack Hillary, though. She's the old favorite whipping post.:sad2:

Our caucus was an absolute nightmare. The person in charge did not know what number to tell people to use on the sheet- she didn't know whether to tell people to use the certificate number or the VUN (maybe it was VUD- I don't have my voter's card on me right now). The final straw was when she started telling people to use their driver's license if they didn't have their Voter's registration card. So nobody checked to see if these people were at the right precinct, if they had voted in the primary, or if they were even registered to vote. :sad2:
They did not split people into groups to count. They had what appeared to be someone who just showed up for the caucus adding up the numbers for Hillary and Obama and putting a number for each at the top of each sheet.
There was even a man there telling people that if they had not decided for sure which candidate they wanted just to leave it blank. Yeah, right, so somebody else could maybe write their choice in later..........I don't think so.
I was disappointed to see that it appeared to be more Obama supporters there, but (please don't take this as a racial remark) the African American voters had definitely received the word about getting out to vote.

Is there anyone in Texas to complain to regarding the caucus thing? Maybe board of elections or even the dem party leadership?

We all received the word, Erin.....but i agree the Caucus was unorganized at best & a nightmare at worst.

I don't know. I thought about sending an e-mail to hillaryclinton.com to give her people a heads up about the caucus problems. Somebody told me there should be an "election judge" to advise of the issues.

"dumb mistake"

"Boneheaded mistake" (in reference to his working for rezco)

Golly gee willickers, Obama seems to make some silly willy mistakes. But it is okey dokey, because he uses cute adjectives to describe them all!:headache:

Thats for sure....

It is possible that it is also being done as a tactic...remember the saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer...in addition Obama has also praised McCain on the issue of him being a American Hero and also in the beginning of the campaign between the 3 of them when both McCain and Hillary were talking experience Obama said that look back at the Pres. that had experience ...they did not do such a great job did they?

so he in his own words also gave praise to him and also his experience...so guess he is as you would say...Sleazy also :thumbsup2

Would also like to know why all of a sudden all the Obama supporters came in here...did someone run into the Obama thread and say come read here or something?????

I don't know that everyone received the word. There were several coworkers that did not know about the caucus. The first time I heard anything about it was when I saw Bill Clinton speak a couple of weeks ago. And for people who do not follow the news, they may not have heard. It really is the primary that you hear the most about.

If i may post in your thread..... I will answer this question.

I have been reading here all along....

and I don't think i posted anything disrepectful or negative about your candidate....

ETA I guess i felt that if someone here was asking why folks on the Obama thread felt a certain way...that I could answer and offer some insight about my postings.

I wonder, reading the Liberal thread...am I the only person in the world who cannot see what Hillary has done that is so terrible and underhanded? It seems to me that she is bringing up points about Obama's inexperience and lack of a concrete plan. She has been doing this from the beginning, but it is only as of Tuesday that she became such a "monster." Before that, posters were coming over to this thread to offer condolences and tell us what a good campaign she had run.

1) When I congratulated her on running a good campaign, she hadn't started in on the other stuff.

2) Ask the question on the liberal thread, and I'll answer. Not going to start another debate here where some people don't want answers.

I can't really stomach going on the Liberal Thread lately. Give me a few days to calm down about the venom spewed there today before I brave it again.

I also was hoping for some answers from Hillary supporters. I think I pretty much know what your opinion is on the topic.

Just as an observation, but on the sites I frequent that discuss politics, I've yet to see a Hillary supporter that had a problem with any of it.

You're right, there is a lot of anger towards her on that thread. But at some point, you have to ask yourself: is everyone else being irrational - and by everyone, I include people like Keith Olbermann and even Gary Hart - or am I just not seeing it because of my affection for the candidate?

Just something to think about.

I am thinking. Hence my post. However, I really do believe that she did nothing wrong. It's a presidential campaign, not a girl scout meeting.
