No, I don't think so. One delegate would be very bad. In fact, 100 delegates would be very bad. I think this elections screams for a brokered deal.

Yup it CAN. There are a total of 4049 delegates. 2025 (1 more than half of of 4049) needed to win the nod.

I am not arguing against the math. I am arguing for a unified party.

:confused3 That remains to be seen, and what the DNC will do with Florida & MI!

There is a huge problem there!

Don't want to bash or pee on anyone's parade here, and I love the enthusiasm, but you really need to read wvjules's Newsweek article http://www.newsweek.com/id/118240. I know it's quite grim, but at least then we can talk about how this all eventually plays out.

It is grim..IF I believed any of it.

This guy "theories" have way tooooooooo many holes. He needs a new calculator!

For instance he says "Then on April 22, the big one, Pennsylvania—and it's a Hillary blowout, 60-40, with Clinton picking up a whopping 32 delegates"

How in HECK does he figure that out????

PA has 187 Delegates. If Hillary gets 60% then she gets 112 Delegates, by my math...not 32!:confused3

Oh yeah, Dont Rain on Hillary's Parade!
She'll MARCH her BAND OUT, She'll Beat her Drums...." (okay i already know too many words to that song.....lol)..and she has Streisand backing her.

I am not sure the premises of that article are valid either. It seems to me Obama has the same problem.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as if there are 100 delegates, and candidate X received 60% of the vote, then candidate X gets 60 delegates. With the way the delegate system is set up, some counties carry more delegates that others. ETA: after looking at it again, I also believe that he's talking about 32 more votes...not 32 total.

If they hold re do's in FL or MI (or both), neither candidate can win the nomination. (w/o the SDs)

Clinton cannot win the nomination w/o the SDs.

Obama cannot win the nomination w/o the SDs.

Either Clinton or Obama will hold "more delegates" than the other.... but not enough for the nomination after Puerto Rico votes.

To their horror....they will decide the candidate. (& will have to consider)

- Which one can beat McCain?
- Which one has the most (but not enough) delegates?
- Which one has the highest popular vote? (with or w/o FL & MI)?
- Which one won the states that the Dems need to win?
- Who's the better speaker? (BO)
- Who has coolest actor friend? (Hillary's friend Jack)

& a dozen other factors.

NOW we know why the powers that be wanted HC to get out.

You know, it just might come down to a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket in the end...who knows?

I am not arguing against the math. I am arguing for a unified party.

After 8 years of W.....we will be unified. Whether the nominee is determined in March or in June.

(The presidential race doesn't start until Labor Day....anything before that is photo ops & for political geeks like us.)

Does anyone think the writers strike ending has changed the election?

So who is going over to the Obama thread and asking them to conceed despite a well run race? :dance3:

:lmao:

Sometimes voters like choosing someone they think will best represent them and their interests. It's a big reason why Hillary is pulling so strongly from older white women. :)

Well yes and no...I am 50 and am not voting for her at all because she is a woman. But that is me and I love politics....so if I didnt than I may have gone for Obama who knows...but see a strength in her that I just dont see in Obama

I've never posted on this thread but lurk. I feel the need to post because I'm sooo happy Hillary did well last night!
I hope this thread goes back to what it was a few days ago......just sayin.
:thumbsup2

And she will win PA! Firstoff, I am in PA!:cool1: Secondly, it is a closed Election ONLY Democrats who have been registered for (I believe 6 weeks) can vote for the Democrat nominee. No Republicans, No Independants and no whacky Caucases here.

:thumbsup2 & Welcome

DISUNC it all comes down to you so if we loose it is all your fault :rotfl:

:lmao: Yes the system does stink. But I dont think the SD should go with what their contitiuents voted. That does not serve the purpose of the SD. If SD "should" vote with their contituients, then why bother having them in the first place???

I dont think 130 deleagtes is a 'Unsurmountable" lead!

I think she will get them because in all the DEM ONLY primaries, she won! This proves that she is the Democrat Parties choice.

:confused3 But then again ANYTHING can happen!

How come I am counting only a 96 pt Delegate lead :confused3

You know, it just might come down to a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket in the end...who knows?

That would ROCK!! but don't think Hillary would be a VP...think she would turn that down.

Who has won the DEMOCRAT closed Primaries? (Hillary):thumbsup2 Again, which is why the SD's were created in the first place.

I really firmly believe the 'Powers at be" want Hillary out, so that the whole FL & MI mess will GO AWAY!

I think we may see Howard Dean step down as Pres if the DNC over this.

They said on CNN last night that the Black communities have more delegates attached to them due to the last voting counts from last election. They said something about it being like that due to not many votes being cast there in the past.

I was like...:confused3 that makes no sense. Nothing against Obama. It seems so strange how they are distributed. Why cant they just make each area the same and who gets those areas gets those delegates....but guess that would be toooooo easy for them to figure that out :rotfl:

Maybe we should all go in and show them how it's done :thumbsup2

That's as of right now and includes pledged supers who can change with the weather direction. His lead is around 135 on actual pledged delegates from primaries. Now of course a delegate can vote for anyone when they show up too. But that is just going to really confuse people who thought we lived in a one person one vote system.
