Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

Oh that lego organization takes me back! At one point in time I had 3 sets of organizers for different sized building blocks. Lego, Duplo and there was something else that escapes me at the the moment. Not to mention all the Thomas stuff and the Lincoln Logs. The big thing ultimately became playmobil which took over.

Maybe Megablocks?

We went through the Thomas and Playmobil phases, too, but it is the Legos that have stuck!

:rotfl: that you jumped in with your shirt and shorts on. I missed that little update.

Not one of my finer Disney moments!

:lmao:

Fun morning, I've not seen the standby queue at Big Thunder yet. It was down almost every single time we were scheduled for it and when I did make it on the line moved so fast, didn't see a thing. Hoping to rectify that in May.

Kona breakfast. Someday I will eat there!!!! It is on my maybe list for September.

The activities in the BTM queue are fun. We don't spend much time in that line because we usually only ride when the line is short or we have a FP, but I'm glad they added what they did.

:thumbsup2

Kona breakfast. Someday I will eat there!!!! It is on my maybe list for September.

You should! I have enjoyed all of the meals we have had at Kona.

Update coming right up!

:goodvibes

GOOD NEWS!!! I found my trip notebook yesterday. It wasn't far from where it belonged. It fell off of my Disney pile of stuff from the trip and was in between a couple of boxes.

:cool1:

Kudos to luvpoohandcompany:

Mark and Nate arrived just a monorail was pulling up.

Together, again!

We arrived at the Poly and headed right to Kona for 2nd breakfast. Or perhaps Elevensies.

Any of you who have followed my past reports, or have seen my comments on your reports if you have visited Kona, know that my favorite thing to eat in the World lives here!

No- it is not the Tonga Toast.

It is the Macadamia-Freaking-Pineapple Pancakes!

And I don’t even really like pancakes all that much.

Without further ado

I invite you to relax and pull up a chair as the Kona Café proudly presents… Our Breakfast

Lilikoi Juice, $4.19

2 Eggs Your Way, with Bacon, $10.99 (Ben)

Tonga Toast, with Bacon and Condiments, $12.99 (Mark and Nate)

Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes, with Sausage, $10.49 (Me)

Sorry about that. I think I drooled just a little bit!

And here is the combo plate put together by Mark and Ben who were sharing their meals, with a little addition of my pancakes as well.

Total Bill was $68.40 plus tip

We left Kona totally satisfied and ready to return to the Magic Kingdom.

Next Up- A Pirates Life for Me and DTMW accomplished! (Who knows what these initials mean?)

Um, I'd totally go see that movie.

I feel like such a goober in that I have never once gone to a sit down and order restaurant in Disney. Not one. :confused3

I really like the idea of a "combo plate" though. Makes it a little like a buffet!

Woohoo for finding your trip notebook! :cool1:

OMG Kona breakfast. Wow. Now I'm drooling! I go for the Tonga Toast. I'd like to try your pancakes, but I don't like pineapple. DH does, but he doesn't want to miss an opportunity to order his Tonga Toast! :rotfl: Looks like I might not get the opportunity!

The combo plate is a great idea. :thumbsup2

Yummy!!! I am a pancake lover and those pancakes look delicious.

And congrats on locating your trip notebook.

I think I just drooled a bit too

I know, right?!?

Have you eaten at Kona?

:goodvibes

Um, I'd totally go see that movie.

The dialogue practically writes itself!

"Please stand clear of the doors...Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas."

What happens to the first time Disneyworld visitors who don't heed this advice?

Or maybe the family can't figure out how to get from the TTC to MK- they get on the resort monorail and have adventures at all of the different resorts?

:rotfl2:

I feel like such a goober in that I have never once gone to a sit down and order restaurant in Disney. Not one. :confused3

I did not know that!!!

Wow!

Which sit down do you most want to go to?

:thumbsup2

Mark and I almost always order different meals and share . :)

I was really glad when I came across the notebook when I was tidying up. It was, of course, right near where it should have been, so if I had looked a little better earlier...

I would say you could order them without the pineapple, but what's the point?

Tonga Toast is not a bad backup, but it is too sweet for me to have a lot of it.

:)

Yummy!!! I am a pancake lover and those pancakes look delicious.

And congrats on locating your trip notebook.

They are! My favorite thing to eat in the World. The roasted beet and goat cheese salad at Sunshine Seasons is a VERY close second.

Thanks for sharing in my excitement of discovering my notebook. Sometimes it is the little victories that get you through!

:goodvibes

Monorail the Movie! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Now Dee, Dee, Dee - you just made ME drool on my computer. Kona breakfast always looks SOOOOOO good. I am totally eating there in October and I am going to try the Macademia nut pancakes because I keep hearing how fantastic they are. I already know that Tonga Toast is great and the last time I had it I was full until dinner. Yum!

I like that viewpoint of the castle too. We don't usually go that way, so it was like forging a whole new path.

Did you try for a reservation through Disney or did you try calling the restaurant directly? Disney used to have just a small subset of reservations available, but there are more choices through the restaurant. Although for awhile I don't think T-Rex was part of the dining plan but it is now, so that may be a factor in the difficulty getting a reservation there.

:thumbsup2

Dee - Thank you for the hint! This worked - called T-Rex directly and we now have a dinner reservation for our arrival day - April 19. :cool1::thumbsup2

Maybe you still can sit near the tank. They should call that "The Splash Zone" now.

;)
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

It was a very good morning. The boys were pretty happy.

This was breakfast. Second breakfast for you Hobbit lovers. We have had both breakfast and dinner, but never lunch at Kona, although I have looked at the menu and it sounds yummy.

Those Lego pictures are from 2 years ago and since then we have acquired at least 20 more sets, possibly 30 (including ALL of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit sets). No. I was NOT kidding!

:lmao:

Off Topic-

Just want to say once again, congratulations to Emmy and Jordan and to your family on their engagement. I didn't want to hijack your trip report with personal details, but since this one is mine, I thought I would share here.

Mark and I started dating when we were sophomores in high school. The age Nate is now. YIKES!!! After 3 years we got engaged, and we married a couple of years later, in between our junior and senior year in college, age 21.

We have been married for 27 years and honestly, neither one of us can picture what life would be for us without the other.
Aw I totally get this (we too married quite young and have been together for 26 years this June). You can see the love in the monorail photo of you and Mark
We were young, but whenever someone would comment about whether it was a good idea to get married without having dated others first, my efficient engineer-to-be husband would comment "I wouldn't waste my time dating someone I wouldn't consider marrying"

Everything I have heard about Emmy and the comment about Jordan talking to your husband before proposing leads me to believe that this is a very mature couple who are very considerate of others and have a very bright future together.

:goodvibes

Congratulations to the happy couple! My eldest is engaged and it is a very emotional moment when a young man comes to ask for your daughter's hand but I love that he did :goodvibes

Good strategy, going for the other choice.

:woohoo:Love it when I get something right:banana:

Can't wait to hear how your son's "present" to you works. Hopefully he will enjoy the rides, too. RnR was Nate's threshold coaster- once he rode that, there was NOTHING he wouldn't try!
This is my hope but even if it doesn't happen I figure I will have got to ride most things :thumbsup2 Oh and I edited my post as I meant ToT not HM lol
Oh my gosh- I went back to look at the Lego pictures and you are right! Those two drawers should have been switched!!!

:sad2:
:lmao::rotfl:
Yes, we are now adults with a real Living Room. In our prior house, the two front rooms- dining room and living room- didn't have furniture for a very long time. I called it ourburglar protection . If someone looked through the windows, they would say "These people don't have **** "stuff" and would pass us by."

:lmao:

I'm still living this plan lol It always comes down to house things or Florida and hands down Florida/WDW have won each year so far !

Maybe those of us from the north are just so frustrated by the short swimming season that we try to stretch the season, but we wear clothes because the water is too cold!

Thanks!

I liked taking ride photos of the boys on Buzz, but I have no idea why my score always stinks! :rotfl2:

Kona looks yummy. Love Sully on the monorail.
I think DTMW means "DownTown My Way (maybe you did a wee shopping trip to the lego store) or Dwarf Train Mine Window (did you go have a peek at the construction) OR OK I admit it -my brain is not functioning today-I HAVE NO CLUE :confused3

I'm not a big breakfast person, but your pancakes do look very yummy.
Dh loves b-fast so we used to do the Ohana b-fast for our character meal since the boys loved Stitch. I miss those days :( Don't get me wrong they would still go and even take pics w/ them ( I know even the teenager lol) but we haven't been in a while.
Maybe we'll try Kona next instead.
I've tried the Tonga Toast at Capt. Cooks when we stayed at the Poly, but it wasn't very fresh so I would love to try it at Kona!!!

Dee, thanks for sharing your personal story. It was truly appreciated. Jordan will be older than my dad was when he and my mom were married 53 years ago. I do trust that they are making the right decision for them since we've watched their relationship evolve and mature over the last 4 years. Thanks again. And I never mind any commentary on my thread.

So, Monorail, The Movie. Yeah, I'll take a seat for that one. ;)

Kona's macadamia pineapple pancakes are my ALL TIME FAVORITE BREAKFAST at WDW. Any drooling is completely excused. :dance3: Mark's plate looks like a hybrid of the Big Kahuna!

I love that Kona is a short monorail ride from MK so it's easy to get back over there and not lose too much of your time away from the park.

Hmmmm DTMW accomplished...no clue. Can I buy a vowel?

A busy couple of weeks coming up- I will do my best to keep up with everyone's reports, and if I have a chance I will update here.

This week is Ben's middle school musical. He is the conductor in Music Man. Dress rehearsals are early this week and shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Starting Sunday, Ben and I are in tech rehearsals for Night at the Wax Museum. He is Butch Cassidy and I am Madame Ching, a diabolical and bloodthirsty pirate. We have rehearsals Sunday-Wednesday and there are 5 shows starting Thursday April 3.

We are also in budget season in our town, and as always, the school budget is on the chopping block- especially the arts (music, band, drama). Ben is worked up about some of the proposed cuts and wants to attend a budget workshop tonight and a rally on Friday afternoon organized by high school drama students.

And on top of all of this, Nate is bringing home an electronic baby tonight and Thursday night for his Child Development class.

:scared1:

The Tonga Toast is just too sweet for me. If you are able to wrangle it, find someone who is willing to share so you can have both!

;)

:cool1:

YAY! I'm so glad you were able to get a reservation. Can't wait to hear what you think of the restaurant.

:goodvibes

DTMW Accomplished-

Great guesses, but no, those are not it.

Your hint- I have used this phrase in a previous trip report in an update/chapter from the Magic Kingdom. Think back at what we did earlier that morning before Kona.

Hopefully I will be able to get the next chapter posted sometime this week.

:thumbsup2

We haven't done the breakfast at Ohana and it would be tough to tear us away from Kona!

Tonga Toast is a dish best served fresh!

I keep dreaming that I will make this at home someday for my boys from recipes posted on the DIS, but that hasn't happened yet!

:rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear all of the wedding details as the planning progresses!

I suggested that Mark and Ben split the Big Kahuna, but one went with the Tonga Toast, the other with the eggs and with my contribution, they essentially ended up with a Big Kahuna.

This was the second time we did a late breakfast at Kona, returning to the MK when we were finished. Easy Peasy.

And speaking of returning to the MK- here is your hint...

DTMW is the variation of one of Stacey's famous sayings.

:thumbsup2

Wow you are busy. Good luck with the shows to all of you!

OK I get it now - and need to have the accent on the right syllables when you say that. My boys were experts.

That...food...looks...delicious:eek: Got to get to Kona someday!! I'm not a pancake person either but I definitely drooled a little.

Nice pictures. The pancakes look fabulous, as always. We do the sharing thing at Kona, too. One will get the Big Kahuna, one will get steak and eggs, and others will get Tonga toast and Macadamia pancakes and then we'll all share. Yummo! And the atmosphere of the Poly just adds to the niceness of the morning meal. :goodvibes I am in the minority on the drink, as I am not a fan of the juice.

The baby slept through the night!!!

Nate brought home the electronic baby (LeMarkus Ned Janis) at 5 pm. It cried/screamed a few times between 5 and 7:30 and Nate soothed it by holding/rocking it. He changed on diaper, but the baby would not take a bottle.

It didn't make another sound all night- we think (hope) it ran out of batteries! We have the baby again Thursday night and I will be curious if the teacher wants him to do another night.

No, thanks!

;)

Kona really does have great food and like you said, a great atmosphere. A perfect place to share everything!

Plus, we always like an excuse to hang out at the Poly!

Probably not a bad thing that you don't like the juice, at $4 a glass! Even my youngest son who doesn't normally drink juice likes it.

DTMW=double triple mountain whammy!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sure do make me rethink Kona for breakfast. Chris, my husband, has been eyeing the tanga toast since our first trip in 08. I have started drooling over pics of those pancakes. Lucky for me I have way to much time before I have to make up my mind.
