Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

I just drooled all over my keyboard. I would so love to be at Kona right now and I just ate there three weeks ago. I am with you...love that place. I do have to say Mark didn't care for your pancakes...he didn't like the pineapple. :confused3 I usually get an omelete and their delicious juice; Mark likes the tonga toast.

I like that the boys shared their meals and took some of yours too. :)

I took the pictures on the move and now the OCD in me is going nuts that I didn't straighten out those MK maps in both pictures!

:rotfl: I'm just getting caught up on some DisBoard reading and I have to admit that when I saw that picture the first thing I noticed was the map all askew and it made me twitch a bit. (Just a bit more alike!)

And a few other random thoughts...
Love the monorail cartoon
Hope play number 2 is going okay (sounds like a fun one!)
I can't imagine having to look after the fake baby - it would never survive in our house! Off topic from the fake baby, which is off topic from the trip report... my son had a good homework assignment for Chemistry this week. They were given a recipe which contained measurements such as "moles" and molecular compounds that represented sugar etc. and they had to convert it to standard baking measurements and ingredients. Then he had to bake up a batch of cookies to see if he translated the recipe correctly. So last night my son made us some chocolate, chocolate chip cookies for his Chemistry homework. They turned out okay so I assume he got the recipe correct. :)

I love when assignments go out side the box. Those cookies sound like a fun reward for converting figures. The fake baby wouldn't have lasted in my house. I did homeschool my kids and let my DD get a puppy. That was an eye opener for her.

Sorry I got so behind on replies!!!

:banana::banana:Yay me lol:banana::banana:

Those brochures! I know, right?

I couldn't believe that I didn't notice that when taking not one, but two similar pictures.

That is a super-cool homework assignment!!! Nothing reinforces a lesson better than cookies!!!

:thumbsup2

Baby did ok- I'll write about that in a few minutes.

A puppy, huh? That's a LOT of work!

:dogdance:

You sure do make me rethink Kona for breakfast. Chris, my husband, has been eyeing the tanga toast since our first trip in 08. I have started drooling over pics of those pancakes. Lucky for me I have way to much time before I have to make up my mind.

So many restaurants, so little time!

My husband shook his head when he asked me once what I was most looking forward to at Disney and I said "eating"

;)

We love to share meals wherever we eat. I like having a little sampling of everything.

As I suspected- life for the past week has been incredibly hectic.

Nate had the electronic baby again last Thursday night- this one was a lot more active. I think he said it cried 13 times while he had it in the evening and overnight. He was taking a shower when the baby started crying so I picked it up to bring it to him and it was difficult for Nate to settle him down. He accused me of doing something wrong!

:rolleyes2

As it turned out, he got a 94% for the first time he had the baby and 100% for the second time.

Music Man went really well! There were 3 shows. The sets, costumes, cast were great. Ben was the conductor, a townsperson and in the boys band.

"We've Got Trouble!"

I promised Lisa a story about audience members behaving badly...

I am in charge of "front the house duties" for the drama club- ticket sales, water sales, volunteers for each show. My friend Linda handles most of the back of the house duties- managing the cast entrances and exits, etc. We are there for every dress rehearsal and every show.

We have some (not enough) other volunteers who sell tickets for a show or help with make-up.

Our seating is General Admission, so the first people in line for tickets get their choice of seats.

On our final night of the show, it came to my attention that one of the parents of one of the ensemble-townspeople had been reserving seats by duct-taping front row seats for her family. She was supposedly helping with makeup, but I never saw her doing anything but socializing with her daughter. She would come in, slip into the performance center before the audience entered, and reserve her seats.

I saw her do this on the closing night. So after she left and went to the café, I went in and talked to the director about reserving seats. The director had reserved seats for 3 of her family members (4th row), I reserved 2 seats behind that since this was the only show I was sitting to watch with Mark and my friend reserved back row seats for her family, which included a relative in a wheelchair. I told the director that another parent had been reserving front row center seats for all of the shows and she told me no other seats should be saved. So I ripped down the duct tape. I wasn't there when the woman entered but I guess she stomped up and down the aisle when she found "her seats" were taken.

They did end up sitting in two rows near the front and pretty much talked to each other during the show.

(I also don't think she paid for her tickets, never saw her at the sales table)

:furious:

So now we are on to the next show, Night at the Wax Museum.

Last rehearsal tonight. Opening Night is tomorrow.

Here's a couple of pictures from our dress rehearsal.

I'll try to post more during/after the show:

Ben is Butch Cassidy and I am Madam Ching. I get to threaten him with a knife!!!

:goodvibes

Way to go Nate! Good job on keeping the electronic baby happy and making such good grades. :thumbsup2

Looks like Ben got right into character (and you too) for the plays. I especially like him dressed as the conductor.

Now, on to the rude "volunteer". You know good and darn well that she only "volunteered" so that she could get into the theater early and save seats. As you said, you never saw her doing anything other than socializing. Good for you going to talk with someone with authority and ripping off the duct tape! People are so selfish sometimes and it's nice to see them get a comeuppance. ;)

I know I'm super late, but I have to sub so I can find you again when I have time to read all 60 (!!) pages.:thumbsup2

Great job on the grades, Nate!

Nice job on ripping up the duct tape, Mom! Really? Some people just annoy me (and today more than other days!).

I love the costumes.

Looks like 2 great plays. My DH was in theater in H.S. And did a couple of community plays in college. We thought for sure DS16 would follow in his footsteps, but nope not a chance. He is however doing tech support backstage for the H.S. Musical. I guess that's as close as he gets to a play LOL.
Good job ripping off that duct tape.
Way to go Nate w the electronic baby.

Great job with the baby Nate!! And mom you know better then to touch that baby. We always get blame for doing it wrong.

How fun to be in play with Ben.
Grr. Some people get to me faster then others. Glad you got to take duct tape off. I never get why some think they are above others.

Love the photo of you and Ben -you really are like 2 peas in a pod :goodvibes

Cant believe the cheek of some people -bad enough to reserve the seats but seriously not paying for tickets as well :scared1: The school can do WITHOUT that kind of help! Good for you for taking away the tape (I'd loved to have been a fly on the wall to see the shenanigans when she went to claim her seats);) !!

Well done to Nate on looking after the baby so well :)

Janet any homework that results in cookies is a winner in my book :thumbsup2 Love it when teachers get creative.

Wow, that lady had a lot of nerve. I can maybe see once trying it, but doing it every night and thinking it's OK....gosh.

Good for Nate with the baby! When I was in high school I had a choice -- baby or essay. I was so sure I didn't want kids (real or electronic) that While all my girlfriends couldn't wait to play with the baby, I chose the essay! :rotfl:
Love the pics of Ben in his shows, and you too! You guys are too cute.
Wow, that's a lot of nerve of that lady to tape off seats for free for herself every night! And front row at that! Some people are just so sad.

YAY to you and Ben! You both look awesome in your costumes!! BOO to the rude volunteer. Some people have some nerve:headache:! Congrats to Nate for keeping his "baby" alive and well. Lol! Looks like you have been really busy! Thanks for the real life update :thumbsup2

Between Nate's baby duty and Ben's theatrical appearances your life is never dull!

Ok, I'm going to admit that I cheered when you said that the duct tape was ripped from the lady's saved seats. Seriously people. Come on. :p Sounds like a great performance and to be so involved I know is probably a lot of work but how rewarding to build those kind of great memories with your son. :thumbsup2

Ben is getting so tall. Not sure your height but your baby is taller than you. It wasn't hard for my kids to overtake me in height since I'm only 5'2".

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Wow you have been busy!looks like 2 great plays. How did it feel to have a "baby" in the house lol. Wow I can't believe the nerve! Glad the duct tape came up missing. I can't believe she didn't pay for her tickets either!

This is such a cute picture of the two of you!

Oh that parent sounds horrid. What nerve it takes to actual duct tape seats?
What the heck is wrong with people. I'm glad you took the tape down. Ridiculous!

I apologize for taking so long with replies and even longer for a new update. I have been slowly trying to catch up on others' reports and am hoping to get back with an update on my trip report tomorrow.

One more picture from Night at the Wax Musuem. Me and my friend John who played Blackbeard.

It was absolutely exhausting to go from one show immediately into tech week (rehearsals every night until 9:30) to 5 shows in 4 days. Plus the 4 kids who were Music Man plus our show had two doubles-

Thurs Night: Opening for Wax Museum

Friday: Music Man in the morning for the school/Wax Museum at Night. Michael, who played Harold Hill, lost his voice during 76 Trombones and threw up between Act 1 and Act 2 due to dehydration and exhaustion, but he rested that afternoon and was ok for our show that evening

Saturday: Shows at 2 and 7

Sunday: Closing Show

I ended up getting sick with a cough that still hasn't gone away and I almost lost my voice for Friday's show.

Grades just closed and Nate got a B in his Child Development class. I'll take that.

We had fun doing the show. I loved acting with Ben and with our incredibly awesome cast, but it was EXHAUSTING!

I'll be watching that mom closely next year.

:sad2:

I know I'm super late, but I have to sub so I can find you again when I have time to read all 60 (!!) pages.:thumbsup2

:welcome:

Never too late! Glad you have joined in. Sorry it has taken so long for me to welcome you here.

:goodvibes

Great job on the grades, Nate!

I love the costumes.

The costumes for the shows in our community theatre group are amazing. I wish I could show more but I don't really want to post pictures of kids who are not mine.

The school show production values were good too.

:thumbsup2

So love this! What a great picture. :goodvibes

Thanks! I loved that Ben wanted me to be in a show with him.

Doing tech is an important role in productions and it is probably a great experience for him to see how it all works.

It was pretty satisfying ripping down the duct tape. It was too bad I didn't see when she discovered others in her seat, but my good friend did see it all go down and watched her stomping up and down the aisles.

All set with the babies until it is Ben's turn!

:rotfl2:

It was a lot happening for us in a very short time. April will be a LOT calmer for us than March was.

I was glad when I learned that I didn't hurt the baby like I was accused.

Thanks! I'm glad we have the picture. I'll have to see if I have one of me holding a knife to Ben's throat. I'm entering that one in the Mother of the Year contest.

We always play some jokes during the final show and our theatre company always has a Star Wars angle. So I dueled with Ben with light sabers instead of our normal swords and guns, and told him. "Butch, I am your mother" Then John told Michael "I am your father", Mappy told Ethan "I am your grandmother" and Margaret told Sarah (Lizzie Borden) "I am your mother" We had a lot of family groups including another mother/daughter, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

:grouphug:

There is no way Nate would pick the essay. How did you do on it?

:)

Thanks for sticking with me!

I will point out that Ben was wearing cowboy boots and I was in flats. He hasn't quite caught up to me in height, but he is REALLY close. I'm just 5'0" so you will feel like a giant next to me!

:lmao:

Wow you have been busy!looks like 2 great plays. How did it feel to have a "baby" in the house lol. Wow I can't believe the nerve! Glad the duct tape came up missing. I can't believe she didn't pay for her tickets either!

Well, the first time it was like he wasn't even there since he only cried a couple of times from 5 to 7:30 then he stopped. The next time, I was gone until after 9 at Ben's show and I didn't hear the baby when it cried during the night. But no maternal instincts were stirred in me!

:)

This is such a cute picture of the two of you!

Oh that parent sounds horrid. What nerve it takes to actual duct tape seats?
What the heck is wrong with people. I'm glad you took the tape down. Ridiculous!

Thanks! I like that picture too.

This woman has been obnoxious for the past couple of years and I could not believe her nerve! I was pretty much annoyed that night anyway at a lack of parent volunteers out of cast of more than over 80 students in the cast, so I was looking for a target and found one.

:sad2:
