Highway in the Sky Dine Around

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. But, I'm curious about this. Who here has done it and do you feel it was worth the cost? I'm considering it for my next trip - and would just like some feedback on your experience with it.

My adult son and I did it about a year or so ago. I think it might be a little more expensive then when we did it and might not be the same. We started at the bar at the Wave at CR with a drink and soup, just a small cup. Everyone moved to the monorail in a group in our own car from there to the Poly. We were outside Trader Sam's at standing tables. You just kind pick a table and are joined by more people, ours was a 4 top. We had a drink, and two appetizers there. From there we got back on the monorail and off to GF where we had dinner at Citricos. There were a number of tables set aside and you were assigned a table. I think there were about 8 people at our table. You got a choice of protein and a choice of white or red wine. After dinner we moved to the Tea Room at GF where we had cheese plates and sparkling wine. From there back on the monorail back to CR to the rooftop where there were desserts and coffee or tea, spiked if you wanted it. By that time I was stuffed and tired and didn't have any of the desserts, I had a regular cup of coffee and my son had a spiked one. They pipe in the music to the FWs and you watch them from there. We actually only stayed through about half of them, the music was hard to hear, it was a little chilly (I think we were there in March) and the FWs just aren't the same unless you are in the park. They gave us a little bag with a couple of chocolates in it when we left.

We enjoyed it and were glad we did it but it was a one and done for us.

Thank you for your input! It is very helpful. It certainly isn't an 'inexpensive' thing to do, so I appreciate the input before I pull the trigger and book it!

We loved it. You meet different people, the food was outstanding and a great way to watch the MK fireworks at the end. Drink lots of water!!! We did get stuck on the monorail as the door wouldn't open at one point but still a great experience.

We did our own tour and we loved it.

I had originally booked this and then they changed it a while ago. Stopped going to Trader Sam's to the Poly lobby and switched out the scallops to a white fish. I was not pleased with the changes, so now we do our own.

Just did one a couple weeks ago:
Started at the Poly, 7PM had a drink at Trader Sam's and the Tambu Lounge and an app.
Off to Mizner's at GF has a drink and an app
Last to the California Grill for a drink, watched the fireworks and then sat down and had another drink and split the woodfire pizza.

It was awesome and we love doing our own tour

Awesome. We had booked and cancelled when the original offering was changed.

DS2 has done his own a few times now and his friends always love it. He's doing it again with a person who hasn't been as an adult in a few weeks ending at CG like you did. He's excited. (I have shifted all our CG to pizza and a sushi, I get out there for less than most QS after my TiW discount and great fireworks view).

Thank you! I'm strongly considering it. I really like the idea of doing it yourself, but I'm considering it for a solo trip (partially for the opportunity to spend time with others), so I'm considering going that route.

If you go back to the original thread, we did a math when it first started and it was a great value for the money .... but then it changed, and I could no longer make it work so .............. yes I think you can create your own, get more and if CG get a better view.

I recently decided to do a couples trip with my boyfriend for my Birthday next April. I was really contemplating the Highway Dine around. But I read a recent review of the changes menu and calculated the cost of the experience and not being able to choose what you get and decide I will plan out a do it yourself Highway Dine around and I can't wait.

Things are only a good value at Disney while they launch. Once they get a following they jack the price, reduce the offerings or both.

I often think of something great to share ... then my instinct is don't talk about it, my luck it is sure to catch on and be gone.
