Highway in the Sky Dine Around with Wishes viewing area

I don't know what took me so long to find this thread! We did this event on our trip earlier this month. Wednesday the 1st of February to be exact and overall, I thought this was an amazing event and by far the highlight of our week long trip. I would definitely recommend it, but maybe more so if you do consume alcohol. Though we didn't get any refills on any of our drinks, with the exception of the Baileys and Coffee, as it was premixed and self serve, it was more than enough! They were even nice enough to provide my boyfriend an extra shot to make his a bit stronger. Just goes to show you how interacting with the Cast Members can go a long way when it comes time for a little bit of extra Disney Magic. Speaking of the CMs, they were awesome and added to the overall experience. The group was a bit timid at the start but after a few libations, conversations were easily flowing with all our fellow diners. I think this was actually one of my most favorite things, interacting with our fellow diners, when initially I thought that would be the part I disliked the most. My only complaints, was at times you did feel a tad bit rushed and that was only because you did have to move on to the next spot. As a matter of fact, I suggested, maybe allowing us to enjoy our Champagne and Cheese portion while sitting at our table at Citricos. The other was the volume of the Wishes music, the location was great, but it was hard to hear the music unless you were right under the speaker.

Towards the end of the night I struck up a conversation with one of our guides and she said they absolutely love doing the event and really encouraged our feedback to Guest Services. She did say so far it seemed to be an overall success but no decision had been made on making this a permanent thing. She did hint, however, that if it did come back she wouldn't be surprised to see a price increase, much like a lot of things after the initial trial period.

I hope it's back on my next trip, as I would absolutely do this again!

Thank you so much! We're doing this next week and can't wait! Maybe you could put this review on allears.net too. Thanks again!

Sounds great. I'm going to make it a point to meet my fellow Diners early. I wish there was a "Meets" thread (like on the cruise line forum) where we could make friends before the event. We have made lifelong friendships from Disney trips. By the time I go, everyone else will have already gone. There won't be a need for a "trip report" after March

There always a need for a review! :)

Definitely try and get there early. I would definitely add this as a tip. We did exactly the opposite! lol! We were running a bit behind. About 10 min or so. The guides were great and called to make sure we were on our way, however, it was a bit uncomfortable walking in with all eyes on you and having to try and squeeze yourself in between groups already enjoying their first cocktail.

We are staying at Bay Lake Tower on purpose so we don't have to drive to the Contemporary. Good point to be there early! Any other tips?

I'm not not sure how adventurous your palate is, and not that anything is too intimidating, try everything! You may surprise yourself. For example, one person I was with wasn't a big seafood person, but surprised themselves. The chefs really created some great dishes!

Still hoping to get a ressie for this for my birthday trip.
Hoping on a cancellation but it's not looking good.
Really wanted to try this out.
Love hearing what everyone has to say about it so far.

We are hoping this is continued into the summer! We are going in July to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday and this event would be perfect.
I think this would make a great 21st birthday event. Fingers crossed it's still being offered!

I went last night!!!! I couldn't figure out how to post pics but I saw you got some off of Instagram. It was worth the money!!!! We had 3 guides that always stayed with us, plus the management team from the current resort. Drinks were full pours, but only one per person, until we got to the champagne (which was the Fairytale) and the cordials. Those places it was all you could drink. Food was amazing!!!! Most of the group agreeed that the pork belly was the best app, and everyone enjoyed Citricous. We actually sat in the restaurant to eat there, everywhere else we were off to the side. They accomadated all allergies. And they didn't completely close the 4th floor deck at the Contemporary, we only had a small portion. But, they put seats for us to sit and watch the fireworks. The only downside, if there is one, was the wait for the monorail, it was packed last night. They did have a boat standing by to put us on, in case of emergency, but they almost put us on it between the Poly and Grand, because the line was all the way back to the gift shop in the Poly. There was a guy there from Disney Food Blog, he took lots of pics and asked lots of questions, so I'm sure his review will be awesome. It was limited to 25 people. It was also a late night, we got to Contemporary just in time for the fireworks. I'll try to answer any questions, I did take some notes, lol!!!! By the way, it was a lot of alcohol!!!!! Full pours plus both red and white wine with dinner!!!! Non Alcoholic was available upon request.

Was anyone dining alone? Do you think this would be fun for a solo traveler?

when we went early on maybe one or two were there alone. But starting from the first area at the Wave you sit with others around small tables, so you start chatting and can hang with others. It was a pretty friendly group.

To me this is a perfect event for solo diners! I wouldn't hesitate.

I'm doing it as a solo on 3/9. Can't wait! Anyone else doing it on the 9th?

Super excited I got an ADR for Highway in the sky...the evening before my birthday!

So Let me ask this...for those that have done it...are ppl dressing up or staying more casual?
Does anyone wear shorts?
