We went on Highway in the Sky tonight and were told that as of yesterday, Jan 8th 2020, changes have been made to make it a more enjoyable experience. Highlights are below..
  • Instead of meeting at The Wave, you meet on the second floor of the Contemporary. Champagne is offered while you mingle with fellow diners
  • You go straight to the Polynesian. No more ukulele player. The food is the same, but we were given a new drink that they're testing.
  • We went to the Garden View Tea room after Poly and were given a bowl of pasta w/chicken from Citricos, with a side of ratatouille and our choice of red or white wine. It was average at best, and everybody talked about it on our next stop, complaining that the chicken was dry and ratatouille was odd.
  • No more stopping at Citricos. You go straight to The Wave after the Garden View room.
  • The Wave was the highlight. We were taken to a private room in the back and were given bread, more red wine, and a full plate of food (short rib with mashed potato and veggies). It was delicious and felt like a traditional sit-down dinner.
  • We were in this room for almost 45 minutes before proceeding to desert, which has not changed

Thanks for sharing the update.
where did you eat at the poly?

Looks like they discontinued the cheese course and opted for two dinners instead. When it started the group was in the lounge area of the Wave, Trader Sam’s, Citrico’s and the Tea Room (ending with Contemporary fireworks). Then they dropped Trader Sam’s in favor of the lobby, now they dropped Citrico’s and put you in a separate room at the Wave. It sounds like they decided to keep the HITS group in their own separate space for the most part.

Thank you for the review. I am thinking of booking this in May if it's available, but not so sure now. DH does not like the Wave and I don't like what they served at the GF. We love Citricos so this may be a no go. Will be interested in hearing other reviews.

Have you done this experience before? I've booked for February, but now I'm not so sure. Would you still recommend it? TY

It really didn’t feel like eating dinner with strangers when we got to visit all the restaurants/bars at the resorts. But now it seems like they’re holding the event in separate rooms or areas. That seems like a change that would isolate the group more. I’m not sure I would like that.
