Hi everyone, just thought I'd do a very quick highs and lows thread from our recent trip.

'Cast members' - I can honestly say that we didn't experience anything other than kindness and politeness from all cm's we met. I was sad however to see that so many people blanked them. We made a point of smiling and saying hello, goodbye or thank you to each and every one we encountered.

Toy Story land - loved it! Fab theme to it, loved all of the touches like the Brio benches, Knex fences etc. It did feel rather 'close together' and Slinky was a bit lame, but loved RC and Parachute Drop.

Queue times - the longest we queued for anything was 35 minutes for Crush's Coaster (it was showing a line time of 50 minutes so we were extra pleased with 35) - everything else was maximum 20 minutes but mostly less.

Cafe Mickey - We always book here for a character meal and this time I was hugely disappointed to see that there was no vegetarian option on the meal plan. I asked if I could have a simple pizza instead (which incidentally was cheaper than the other menu choices!!) and was told no, that was just the way it was. Apparently the 'fish' dish was vegetarian??!! We were going to leave but then the waiter said he'd sort out a pizza instead just for us....but when our order came and they still sent the fish dish for me. So he took it back and ordered my pizza but it meant that our son ate his meal whilst we had our starters, he had his dessert as hubby had his main course, and I ate my main course long after hubby had finished. It was a real disappointment, but in fairness, the waiter did his best to help us out.

Newport Bay - big disappointment :( We chose this as I had surgery on my back last year and I'm still struggling with walking/standing etc. The walk to and from the park was fine, but our room was a further 10 minute walk from the Lake Disney entrance, and the room was no better than the one we had at the Santa Fe a few years ago. We got a brilliant deal at the Newport Bay with the 40% off offer, but we definitely wouldn't stay there if we were paying full price. Next time (if there is a next time!) it will be the Disneyland Hotel, fact!!!

Other visitors - differing thoughts here. Some people we encountered were hugely friendly, it was lovely chatting, and one lady even gave us some suncream as we had none which I will be eternally thankful for! I lost count of how many photo's I must have been in as the heat was making me dozy, but I tried to rectify it by offering to take photos of families/groups by way of apology! But of course there were ill mannered people, and I just cannot get my head round why people would be like this in Disneyland :( The rudeness to some CM's made my blood boil - as an example, my son loved RC and wanted to ride it again, but my hubby hated it and I couldn't do it due to my back issues so I took him and joined the single rider queue, explaining to the cm that I wasn't going to ride but I wasn't going to let my 8 year old queue on his own which was fine. There were 2 others after us in the line and then the cm's closed off the line as it wasn't moving and faster than the normal one, which was fair enough. But people ignored the chain and climbed over/under it to join the line regardless. And when the CM explained and asked them to move on they blatantly ignored him. I explained to an English man and he just shrugged and remained in the queue...it's just SO rude. And then of course there was the obligatory pushing, smoking etc....*sigh* :( Oh, and on our first day I was vomitted on in the front lot cafe by a child. That was pretty gross.

Buffalo Bills and The Stunt Show - both were perfectly fine without the addition of the Disney characters, I don't feel that they have added to the experience at all and it made the stunt show disjointed in my opinion. Of course, my son is Cars mad and loved it but I wasn't impressed. But maybe that's because I was in a mood due to people pushing past us and talking/shouting/kids screaming all through it! My tolerance was beginning to wane by this point.

Stitch Live was fab, so funny, loved it, and Stitch chose my son as his new best friend which made his day!

Dreams was AWESOME!! I genuinely can't find the words to describe how fab it was. It was a pain (quite literally for me) to stand waiting for it, but oh my goodness it was worth it. Hubby and I both agreed that it was better than the fireworks we saw in Florida, and that was pretty spectacular!

Cafe Hyperion - just a great place to go and rest. Brilliant for us as I needed plenty of rest stops due to my back, but also a refreshing place to go to escape the scorching sun. Such a shame that they stopped the Lion King show, it really was brilliant, we were lucky to have seen it on our first visit in 2007

I can't think of much more to add really. Oh, except to chat about the weather - it's the British thing to do after all!
We left our home in Germany on the Sunday. The forecast for the week was overcast & rain so we took jeans, t shirts and jumpers. We travelled to the UK first to drop off our car, and checked the weather again - still the forecast was overcast and rain. Monday evening we arrived in Marne Le Vallee, it was STILL overcast and rain forecast. Tuesday it was cloudy but muggy, and when I was puked on I was able to take off my jumper and walk around with just my t shirt on. Wednesday and Thursday it was really foggy first thing - on Thursday morning we couldn't see anything from the Lake entrance to the Newport Bay looking out to the village, it was crazy. But both days it warmed up very quickly. It was a bit too hot for us, especially as we had no summer clothing and no sun cream (which we couldn't buy there either, couldn't find it!). On Friday our son ended up wearing his pyjama bottom shorts around the parks as it was the only summery thing we had and it was soooooooo hot!

Welcome home. :)

We were really impressed with TSPL too. :) And Thursday was the day we did EMH. And the fog meant you couldn't see the castle from Main St. Was really fun having it appear slowly into view. :) Also kept it nice and cool.

Looking forward to a TR if you do one. X

We did 8.15am Park breakfasts on Thursday and Friday morning, it was lovely walking in whilst it was all foggy and cool, I got a few nice pics of the castle looking all mystical x

Welcome back :wave2: glad you had a good time overall.

It does seem ridiculous that there isn't a veggie option in the set menu :confused3 but not surprising - hopefully if they get enough feedback they will amend this sooner rather than later?

I've got a feeling someone once said that you can buy sun cream in the Relay shop at the station or did I imagine that? :confused3

The only place I saw sun cream in the park was as the stroller rental shop place. Fred to think how much it cost!

Welcome back :wave2: lovely to hear your thoughts. I totally agree about Dreams, it is fantastic and words just don't do it justice. Sorry you were disappointed with the NBC. I love it actually, I love the décor and space and light in the rooms but we have been fortunate in having rooms fairly near the lakeside and I have never wandered deep into the furthest corridors of the hotel. I can see that some wings do look a very long walk away which must have been particularly difficult for you with a bad back.

I also agree with you about the introduction of Flash into the Stunt Show. It doesn't bother me but as you say doesn't really add anything. DS, another Cars fan, likes it but as we have to sit in the disabled area for him we actually miss the climax of this slot as it seems to go behind the lorry to our view.

It is nice to hear praise for the CMs as they have to put up with a lot from some of the guests! :rolleyes2

Never eaten at Cafe Mickey and now I know not to bother. Where did you find the best veggie options?

Glad it was such a great trip (apart from the child being sick on you :() :goodvibes

Glad to hear you had a great trip overall. It seems madness having no veggie option on the menu. None of us our veggies but lots of people are. We stayed in NPB last year, we found it fine but definately didn't fall in love with it.

I've come to the conclusion recently that DLP do not seem to cater for vegetarians or people who have a low fat diet. I've also heard on another forum someone having problems with food intolerances being catered for at DLP.:confused3

I'd say the best place that we went to for food for veggie options was the Pizza Planet buffet. It had pizza and pasta (warm) and then a salad bar with a cold pasta salad with roasted veg (lovely), cous cous, and various salad items. They also had desserts ;)
Our son shovelled in 2 plates of pasta with tomato pasta sauce, a few slices of pizza and 2 desserts!!! The drinks were refillable too. I'd say it was our best meal. Most of the places were typically burger, chicken burger etc type places. The Market Street Deli on Main Street does a delicious roasted veg roll, very yummy.

I actually feel rather refreshed which is a first for me after DLP!! Usually I feel rather fractious etc. But looking through our photos (of which there are lots lol) and seeing my beautiful little boy all smiling and carefree after a particularly horrible 18 months warms me to my bones :)

Welcome back :)

Glad that you had a great trip overall.

It is nice to hear that the CMs were all polite etc. To be fair, I bet they get sick of the abuse and rudeness of people at times, it must make it harder for them to show a smile. On the whole, we've always encountered nice CMs apart from one once.

Sorry to hear about the child being sick on you :worried:. Urgh. And you being caught out by the weather. I'm fairly sure I once saw suncream for sale in the DLH shop behind the counter (they had a few medicine/toiletry items there). Didn't look at the price though but expect it was astronomical :lmao:.

Glad you enjoyed Dreams too - I'm so excited about seeing it :hyper:.

I asked in a couple of shops if anywhere sold suncream and was told 'no chance' by the staff. Thankfully only I got burnt ;) but I did see some lobster like children which made me feel very sad for them.
Dreams - wow wow wow! Hubby managed to video the first half of it before he ran out of space on his iPod, gutted he missed the finale. I will admit to a rather large lump in my throat a few times.

It's probably something they can't sell like asprin :confused3 Best place if anybody gets caught out is Val d'Europe. In Auchan you have the parapharmacie section for Roc and the supermarket shelves for Nivea Sun, Garnier or L'oreal

Glad to see that you have had a good time on the whole but it really was a low some random child being sick on you :(
