A little late, because we’ve all been suffering with the flue since being back in the UK

Highs

- We had one of the traditional 2 bed cabins at the DCR, which we prefer, and it really did feel like a 2nd home :goodvibes ....just a little cleaner! It really was spotless inside, lol
- Good weather.....no snow like we’ve had the last couple of years, and a little damp, but mild with no cold winds
- Having the pool to ourselves for a few hours on one day. And for the 1st time in 10 years of visiting the pool temperature was just right (it’s usually quite cold)! They even had Christmas music playing through the pool speakers which was another 1st. It’s the small things sometimes....
- The DCR Tavern buffet was fantastic as usual :thumbsup2
- The parks were sooo quiet! 5 minute queues for RC racer and 20 min for Crushes on one afternoon. We did all of the rides we wanted, and more, with no pressure.
- The Val d’ Europe & Auchan Supermarket. We ate like royalty all week, and saved a fortune on all the alcohol and food that we bought back for Christmas.
- The Jingle Bell Boys :santa:
- Dreams :cloud9:

Lows

- The skating rink being shut at the hotel New York...due to bad weather??? A shame because we’d stopped at Arras on the way down, and didn’t skate there because the kids wanted to skate at Disney.
- In addition to this, as beautiful as main street looked, you got a sense that there was a lot of cost saving going on, e.g., no gas lights operating in the arcades :scared1: ; restaurant closures; no Mickey’s Wonderland, etc. On the day before we left we tried to grab a meal in the park, and virtually all of the counter service restaurants were closed. Any that were open were heaving to capacity, and lacking in any magic :sad2:
- Just the fact that after approx. 30 trips over the last decade, the magic is dwindling a little for some of us....

Lots of fantastic memories though, and for as long as my girls are still keen to go, I’ll keep going back for my fix pixiedust:

Having been visiting since 1994 (though I don't remember much from back then) I know what you mean about the money saving. I remember when the whole o Main Street had light arches. I love DLP and having dreams is great but to not have one show on at Christmas is a let down. To me Disney magic is at its best during the shows.

DCR pool is amazing we only had to share with one other family in September so not quiet as lucky as you lol.

Hope you are all feeling better now x

Feeling 100% now thank you tinks :)

I think the arches were before my Christmas visiting time, but would love to have seen them!

Welcome back :wave2:

Wow, 30 trips :earseek: I am soooooo envious!

I know :scared1: doesn't bear thinking about really....any loss of magic is definitely self-inflicted!! You must have been a few times yourself now???

Those queue lengths sound brilliant. What are the hours of the pool opening now at DCR? We had the explorers pool to ourselves for a while back in the October half term which was brilliant. We would go to the park for EMH and then go back for a swim around 11am.

Glad you had a good time on the whole :)

I know exactly what you mean :goodvibes We were passed by Rapunzel and Cinderella walking quite swiftly through the park (to I don't know where) and Rapunzel caught my eye and smiled. No photo, no autograph, but it was just a really nice little moment.

I was never a fan of the arches myself. Didn't think they looked particularly attractive when they weren't lit up and, worse, they blocked the view of the castle from Main Street.

After only being open from 3pm-10pm for a couple of years....it's now open all day again (i.e., from 9am - 10pm) :thumbsup2

Welcome back, thanks for sharing you highs and lows :)
