We are traveling with our 6 month old next week :cool1:. I feed her in her Bumbo at home and she has never been in a highchair. I am worried that we wont be able to bring our stroller into the restaurants (doing Le Cellier 2 times) and she wont be comfortable in a high chair. Then again, she is 6 months old already and loves to sit up straight in her stroller, so, she might be ready. At what age did you start using a highchair with your little one?

:)

Both my kids started sitting in highchairs around that age. I'm pretty sure they won't let you bring the strollers in the restaurants, although I heard they make exceptions if your child is sleeping. I have seen sleeping children in strollers before. What helped our kids sit and be more comfortable was the shopping cart cover. We used it on the high chair and it helped them sit more comfortable. Ours converted into a a carrying bag, so it wasn't a big deal to carry in and out of the restaurants. Have fun...we're leaving on Sunday!!!!

We don't have a shopping cart cover, I might as well get one. I have no time to order, so, I'll head out tonight to get one. Are they all the same or can anyone recommend a specific brand?

Thanks!:)

Are you going to have her in just a stroller or the baby bucket still?

Most high chairs will fit the baby buckets.

Also, you could make a quick trip out in the next week to see how she does in a highchair before you get there.

If you don't get the shopping cart cover (I've never used one) you can always roll up a blanket/sweatshirt/jacket/etc and put it behind her to help her sit up straight.

Have a great trip!

DH stopped at Babiesrus and got a Boppy shopping cart cover. We will be using it this weekend on a trial run before our trip. Thank you for all the suggestions!

:thumbsup2

If you are driving and have the room, I suggest bringing the Bumbo for the hotel room. It is nice to have something in which they are somewhat secure.

We are flying, so, I can't take it with us, however, I was thinking of renting one.

:goodvibes Thanks!

Our DS started using high chairs around this time too. We love the Floppy Seat brand. We have 2 so we can keep one in each car. They have a nice elastic edge that stays put and it just folds into itself. It's a little bulkier than some of the other brands, but it's got a lot of cushion to help prop them up too. We use our for high chairs and shopping carts. I got both at resales for $10 each. Plus, they can go in the washer. I just toss mine in with the towels.
