Can anyone furnish info on the High Tea while at sea. Is it worth the added cost, what is the dress code and are the scones very good. What other things are provided.

Jim

Hello...we went to high tea on the Jan 13 Magic. Dress code at Palo is the same as for brunch, no shorts, jeans, tshirts. The scones and Devonshire cream are worth the $5 alone, as is the large selection of teas (if you like tea, of course!) The trifle got rave reviews from my DH, but he's a Brit, so may not be unbiased in the area of high tea. There were other delightful little pastries like eclairs, plus an array of tiny sandwiches with the crusts cut off (cucumber, chicken curry, and some kind of fish). Fussy, perhaps, but very elegant. We went with another couple, so it was primarily a social event, but truly, if you like scones and cream and jam, it's worth it.

We had no idea what to expect, but it turned out to be a very nice treat! First of all, there weren't very many people there, so it was very calm and relaxing. We're not experienced tea drinkers, either, so our server talked us through picking out something we would like without making us feel dumb! There was a plate of sandwiches, the scones and jam, a plate of small desserts (chocolate eclairs, a small fudge tart & something else I don't remember) and last, the English trifle. It was more food than I was expecting and all very good - well worth the $5.

We wore slacks, DH wore a polo shirt & I wore a nice casual top. It's not a "can't miss" event, but it was a nice treat for some alone time with DH.
