High speed Net access at Swan/Dolphin

Not sure if this was posted on the Resort board as of yet, but if not, an FYI.

On the last day of my recent trip to the World, Tuesday, this week, they were installing Cisco High Speed Internet in each of the rooms. And they said it would be no additional charge for the use of it (Most hotels charge $10 per day for high speed access). It was not operating yet, they said a few days more.

Just passing on as an FYI for those who may bring laptops to the S/D. Of course, you do need an Ethernet card, or similar, for plugging the cable in.

This is awesome news - I get so tired of dial up when at the resorts. Another reason to always consider the S&D when planning a trip!

Will this line connect to laptop modem?? We have an external modem for our desktop at home for high speed. Also I wonder how difficult it will be to configure.

If your laptop has an ethernet card in it, it will be simple to establish a connection. It won't work with just a regular modem card though. This is wonderful news!

To confirm the previous poster, your modem will not work. You need an ethernet card(there may be one built into your laptop already.

I just hope this is the first step in bringing high speed access to all WDW rooms.

And don't forget to bring your own cable (some hotels seem to have a limited supply of them).
