Hi All,

I'm trying to convince DH to take myself and two DS's (4 and 1) on a second Disney vacation this year in the Spring. I'd like to stay someplace new, but he needs in room high speed (cable/network, not dial-up) internet access so he can catch up on work in the afternoon while the rest of us nap. He's self-employed, so I don't even try to tell him to just take a real break.

We just bought DVC and will be staying at Saratoga Springs in October, but we only have enough points for that week. We'll be looking for discounts someplace else if we take another trip. We stayed at Coronado Springs last year and they had the service. It worked out very well for him. So, I know I heard/read about a schedule of when this is being rolled out to the resorts. If anyone can point me to it, I'd appreciate it.

You guys always come through, so thanks in advance.

There was high speed access at the Dolphin last June. It was included in the $10 resort fee that you had to pay. We loved the service and uploaded our pictures to Shutterfly each day so that my DH (who was at home) could see what we did that day!

I know that the Grand Floridian and BoardWalk Inn had wi-fi access in the public areas, but I don't think they had it in the rooms yet. I honestly can't remember the rollout schedule for the high speed internet. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I had recently gotten this info from the web and then checked with disney:

Coronado SPrings
Yacht & Beach Club
Beach Club Villas
Contemporary
Grand Floridian
Boardwalk
Boardwalk Villas
Saratoga Springs
Old Key West
Dolphin
Swan

Believe Dolphin/Swan are wired and others are WiFi.

Thanks for replying everyone. I know Coronado and SSR have it in room. Maybe I'll call a few more on cdoxey's list, just to be sure. Of course, hubby might like the novelty of hanging out in the lobby with WiFi and watching the world go by while he works. Certainly more interesting than listening to the rest of us sleep.

Thanks Again.

safetymom...or others...do you know what the daily cost of internet access is?
Thanks
Gill

As of October 1, 2003, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort began offering high-speed Internet access in its guest rooms, at a charge of $4.95 per hour or $9.95 per 24 hour period. Within the next six months or so, all of Disney's convention hotels and Home-Away-From-Home/Disney Vacation Club resorts are scheduled to get high-speed Internet. The projected dates (subject to change) are:

Yacht & Beach Club - November 4, 2003
Contemporary Resort - December 2, 2003
Grand Floridian - December 2, 2003
Boardwalk Inn and Villas - December 30, 2003
Saratoga Springs Resort - January 30, 2004
Villas at Wilderness Lodge - February 27, 2004
Old Key West - April 2, 2004

Disney now offers Wi-Fi (high speed wireless Internet access) in the public areas of its convention hotels. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled laptop computer or PDA to access the Internet from designated areas of each resort. Smart City is the provider and bills the guest using a secure credit card transaction via an on-screen Internet connection. Requires a wireless interface card (WIC), available for purchase in the resort's business center. $4.99 per hour or $9.95 for a 24-hour period.

Locations for Disney's Wi-Fi access:

Grand Floridian - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Beach Pool
Contemporary - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool
Yacht & Beach Club - Main Lobbies, Convention Center Hallway, Stormalong Bay Pool
Coronado Springs - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool, Francisco

The Swan/Dolphin wired high-speed internet access (HSIA) is included in the resort fee (10.00) which also includes paper, coffee maker, and some free local phone minutes. They say the 10.00 resort fee is not taxed. I would imagine the HSIA fee at the other resorts is not taxed?

Does anyone know if the others (non S/D) fee is paid to third part or the room charge?

I have both wired (ethernet) and wireless (wifi) adapters on my laptop. With many motels now offering wired and/or wireless access (some are free now like Marriott), it really pays to have both.

cdoxey, when we used the in-room service at CSR last year it was just charged to our room.

Thanks Again!

There is no high speed or WiFi at the Polynesian. We asked about it and were told "maybe" next year, but they didn't sound terribly confident about it.
