High School Musical

Kohl's carries HSM t-shirts, in case anyone is interested. My DD8 has a pink one with Troy on the front, and a black one with the cast (cover from the DVD). If you have a Kohl's near you, check it out!

And since I've been sucked into taking my DD8 to see the Cheetah Girls in concert this fall, I should also mention that Gabriella (Vannesa Ann Hudgens) is the opening act... :rolleyes1

I watched HSM last night too. It's cheesy and dumb and just like all the othe DCOMs, but I can never take my eyes off of it!!! ;) I think MGM would be the perfect place for a HSM show. They need to fill up a lot of empty space anyway.

I should mention that when I'm in WDW next week, all my daughter wants to order is "Creme Brulee." By the way, does anyone else's daughter associate more closely with Sharpay than Gabriella? (Its like prefering Rizzo over Sandy. I think I'm in for big trouble with my DD.)

I can say that my oldest DD (age 11) prefers Sharpe. I think it is because both DDs like watching Suite Life too and the actress is also a character on that show.
I wish the show would be going on for our end of September trip!

i always preferred rizzo over sandy! and dd prefers sharpe over gabriella! LOL!

one of the designers over on the Creative DISigns board has a HSM design for ironing on your own tee shirt... i'm definitely making one for dd for our MK day in october :)

Oh wow!! I thought I was the only mother that had to listen to HSM all day long. My 12 year old daughter LOVES it. She has watched to movie 15+ times and knows all the words to all the songs. She will be soooo thrilled to hear there may be a show at DW!!!!!!!!!

Just to let you know, it's "sharpay," and I think that a lot of people can relate to her because she's very used to one thing. (As you all know, if you were always taught that a curved line is straight, you start to believe it!) Even though it seems she is more understanding at the end of HSM, she's just going to go back to her old ways in HSM 2

Ditto!!!!

I was always wanted to be Sandy, not Rizzo. And I always wanted the bad boy who was really a good guy deep down...NO WONDER I go for such dysfunctional men!!! :lmao:

:rolleyes1 It's hard to believe that I couldn't see that you were always right beside me.... :rolleyes1

:teeth: DH refuses to go to the HSM show with me, so if you there in Dec. and see a 20 something dancing along with the little kids, yeah, that'll be me. :)

HAHA!

You will not be the only one! I may be standing next to you with my little ones
and my husband hiding in the backround!

Me too! My girls watch it constantly and we all know the songs and dances! :dance3:

My 5 1/2 yr old LOVEs HStM!!! She also perfers Sharpay.. I am also assuming it is b/c of the "Suite life" show, she loves Maddie.
We are going in Nov, so my dd would love this!! I might have to go over to Khols and pick up a Tshirt for her as a surprise before we leave!

My DD6 is also a HSM fan. She loves Sharpay and always wants to be her. Its so funny to listen to her try and mimic her singing voice. She has a major crush on Troy. Its funny she'll call Troy "Zach Effron" but the rest of the characters are by fictional names.

DS3 loves getcha head in the game.

DD keeps saying she wants HSM autographs for our Sept trip. I've tried to explain they aren't there but she thinks all the DC stars live at Disney. Hannah too. :confused3 I'm not sure how I'll handle that one.

i'm a 26 yr old mother to 2 and i love this movie!!

My kids are under 2 still :lmao: so i really have no excuse as to why i own the movie AND the soundtrack and watch it all regularly! :lmao: this show sounds great, but looks like we will miss it too :(

I think that would be fine, too.

But seriously, the Tomorrowland Stage has been always been host to ALL KINDS of entertainment acts, shows, and contest events (cheerleaders, etc.).

Its not "sitting out IN" Tomorrowland. Its in its own enclosed area.

I think its fine to have this show (which pre-schoolers, grade-schoolers, high-schoolers, (and "I can barely-REMEMBER-school"-ers) seem to enjoy so much, on that stage.

Actually, is there anything in the old theatre that use to house "Doug Live" - that would be perfect for a modified HSM. My seven year old and I were just dancing around to the sing along version that was on the Disney Channel last night. (Is the first step admitting that I have a problem? I can't help it - I love happy musicals :p ).

They only host special events in that theatre. But on a regular basis it's empty

My dd loves suite life also, but still prefers Gabriella. Mom is more likeSandy than Rizzo too. My DD always likes the good characters. She won't even get a villians autograph at the parks. I have to do it :rolleyes1 . She loves HSM and I told her about this post which I shouldn't have because I don't want to get her hopes up. Does anyone know for sure when it is scheduled to start? Thanks.

Ok guys my 6 yr old son loves it! :cool1: He loves maddie on Suite Life so its Sharpay for him, it is catchy, and after we watch I am always singing, "Were all in this togther" my hubby thinks I need to get out more! :rotfl2:

Now my kid would like a HsM show but he would love anything Zach & Cody related, well should I say Maddie related! (or Sharpay) :goodvibes

I thought I read somewhere that the HSM Pep Squad would be kind of a travelling show within MK -not located in any one theater :confused3 . Anyhow, DD9 and -yes - DS6  are big HSM fans. I just can't relate. We are going the last week of October, but I haven't mentioned the new show coming. I figure it will be quiet the surprise when the Wildcat Pep Squad comes rolling down the path.

Come to think of it... MK will have shows that titillate the kids (HSM) and also DW (Pirates... Johnny Depp lokalike yada yada yada  ), but what's new for ME? Shouldn't they throw a bone out there for us Dads? ;)

Just FYI... Disney has released this musical to Musical Theatre International (MTI) for use in high schools, theatres etc. for performance. I think I saw the announcement in the Disney Insider newsletter. There are supposed to be two additional songs for the stage version.

When I taught and directed the school musical, my students were always wanting to do Grease. I love the music, but could never get past the topics in the show as a teacher. I'm not wild about HSM, it's just ok, but I would probably choose it over Grease for the content.
