high school marching band and fall sports?

We’ve finally received high school sports guidance. No practices until school starts on 9/8 and no competitions until schools move to stage 3 (expected ~10 days after school starts). Everyone must wear masks at all times. No multi-school competitions. Football has changed significantly to 7-on-7 touch. Volleyball must be outdoors for matches. Cheer must practice outdoors. They are still figuring out staggered starts for cross country meets. Max of 150 spectators, so probably 2 tickets per athlete for football.

I haven’t seen any state-mandated cancellation for music programs, but our high school is not having band or chorus programs until 2nd semester. I’ve heard rumor that those programs will only be allowed to outdoors, which leaves one scratching their head how that will work in northern New England in January.

They have already cancelled fall sports and band/chorus- no extra curricular at all. Even grade school had no "gym"- they are having gym in their classrooms which they never leave the whole day, they are doing yoga, jumping jacks etc but no actual gym as it has always been. Even lunch is at their desks.

Football is starting up in the regular season. The band will perform at home games only but they will not be in their regular location in the stands. They will be on one of the end zones so they can distance more. They are only selling the stadium to 50% capacity of spectators. I won't be going to any of the games. Shoot, wait, I guess I will go to the one where they do Senior night (DS is a Senior) Maybe just show up at halftime for the ceremony and then leave.

Our school in NY is still on a one-month delay for fall sports. We don't have any further details like you guys do. We are starting the school year hybrid (in-school classes every other day) and evaluations will happen on October 1 (we start on Sept 8) with the hope to be in school more days and also with the hope of playing fall sports.

We haven't even started our soccer season yet and we have our first cancellation - our son's first opponent has determined that they're 'not ready' to begin playing opponents yet, so they postponed our game for Saturday. We'll see if the Tuesday game actually happens.

Kentucky athletic association just ok'd starting official practices on Monday and first competition for fall sports to start the week of Sept. 7. It needs to be signed off on by the Departments of Education and Health and the Governor's office. There are still some particulars to work through, including attendance limits.

Ohio's attendance limits are 1,500 or 15% of fixed seating capacity, whichever is lower for outdoor events and 300 or 15% of seating for indoors.

I'm not sure I've even seen 300 at a HS soccer match. lol

But I am figuring they'll cut way back, which is why I'm going to try to stream the games for parents. Obviously it helps those who can't be there, but then I get listed as "team personnel" and are allowed at games. :D

Yeah, I don't think this is generally going to affect anything but football.

High school football is still on, but attendance is very limited. Only parents of players, and seating will be spread out. No viewing from parking lots either. Marching band and guard are still on, but in a much reduced capacity. Only 50 band members were permitted to play at Friday’s game, all seniors with a few exceptions. Only their parents could attend the game.

Our 10th grader is in colorguard, so no clue if we’ll even see what they’ve been working on. Heck never saw what their winter guard show was as parents night and their final three competitions were canceled.

I have a son on the drumline. They've held two rehearsals a week (percussion/guard one night in person, winds on the other) and the students have a choice whether to attend in person or via zoom. We just got an email saying that all groups would have the option to attend in person starting tomorrow. I do not know whether that's due to something they've heard from the district or what (our school is currently 100% online for at least first quarter).

No word on football, although for me, as a marching band parent, I'd happily go just to see the kids perform SOMETHING.

Like @RangerPooh, our winter season also got cut short but we were fortunate enough that we did get to see a regional show before everything closed down.
