It seems like the prices of very small resale add ons has not been decreased nearly as much as the prices of larger contracts that usually need financing. I have seen this even when compared with 50-100 point contacts.

Perhaps the ability to pay cash for these small contracts is a much greater draw than any incentives or discounts.

I was delighted to buy a 30 point BLT contract (from DVC) even though I paid full price and got no incentives. My incentive will be the money I will save on financing. :thumbsup2

I think that you are correct, especially in the resale market. I bought in at VWL with only 50 points. I had the cash available and it got me into to DVC as a member--no different than if I had purcahsed a bigger contract.

It really is a great way for new members to get into DVC.

I would guess there is some inordinate demand right now keeping prices up for small point contracts because of the huge number of members who are now points short on their regular annual trip as a result of the 2010 point chart change which was done for their "benefit."

In the past 25 point contracts have often sold for more pp than would a retail purchase and that's before the closing costs.

I saw a 25 point OKW resale on the GMAC website for $1750. $70 per point! I dont know if it was a stripped contract, but I thought that would be a great way to get my foot in the door. Then just add on points as I can afford them, and not finance any.
