High Heels--am I crazy?

Thanks for proving my point, Lacee, about the double standard on this thread. People can freely post that those who wear heels are vain, crazy, dangerous, irresponsible etc. But dont you dare say that people who wear the ugliest shoes known to humankind (birks or crocs) are frumpy!

Wearing cute flats, clogs are fine. You can be flat on the ground, safe, and comfortable in normal shoes without exposing the rest of us to your nasty footwear choices.

Ill say it again, and I dont care. Birkenstock and CROC wearers are FRUMPY!!!!!!

Well heeled and proud in Texas!!!,

Jennifer

The OP asked if she was Crazy for wearing heels, Which most of us responded yes, and explained why. YOU, started the name calling.By not making fun of crocs or Birkenstocks, but by calling the people who wear them FRUMPY. It was a personal attack.EDIT-I asked the mods to shut this puupy down before it gets worse.

And I'll say it again. Some people don't have a choice and resent you calling them names because they are REQUIRED, in order to not be an evil ECV user (a whole other post entirely), to wear SENSIBLE (wonder why they're called that?? :confused3) and comfortable, supportive shoes.

The ones who choose to wear SENSIBLE shoes, most of the world would consider... well.. sensible.. *gasp* :scared1: Imagine that! LOL

BTW OP, this has nothing to do with you. You asked a genuine question for advice. You didn't call anyone names or put them down. Please enjoy the parks in whatever footwear you find comfortable enough for you.

Florida in November isn't that cold. How about some cute skinny capris with some stylish flats? I hate wearing tennis shoes with jeans too, but I'd never consider wearing heels to WDW. Nothing can kill a great trip faster than painful blisters and sores.

I don't wear Crocs or Birkenstocks but I do wear cute, comfy flip flops. If it's predicted to be super cold, I bring a cute capri or ankle length warm up and a pair of bike shoes. It is almost never very cold more than a day or two.

FYI, I look at everyone's shoes while at disney world and judge them...

...not for fashion but for whether if I had a pair of those my feet would hurt less :rotfl:

Wear what works for you. I usually bring many pairs of different shoes (a couple pairs of flip flops, two or three pairs of sandals, a couple pairs of runners, a couple of pairs of nicer shoes for dinners out). They are all flat because that is what I am used to but I find just changing my shoes a couple times a day makes all the difference in the world.

Thank goodness for small feet!

Im from Beaumont..just south of you! I too am " Well heeled and proud in Texas" I too wear more reasonable shoes at Disney too though. I LOVE heels..I feel VERY sexy and tall. However I could not imagine Disney with them on...not that you said you would either though. I just bought some REALY cute ballet flats...however even those after 4 or 5 days just dont do it for me. I think this year I wanna try my uggs, I also am thinking about maybe gel inserts in my flats...not sure though!

I have noticed that people DO critisize woman for wearing heels to Disney...therefore you have the right to YOUR opp. too...but coming from a woman who LOVES shoes and heels...I too kinda think...wow they must be INSANE...when I see people in "high" heels as mentioned in OP. I dont think people care when they see people in little wedges...but come on...from one heel wearer to the next...as mentioned in OP....if you saw a woman in "stilettos " at WDW...after you looked and said..."oh those are cute shoes"...you would HAVE to think...DANG that must HURT!!!! Being that she did not say wedges and what nots...she said stilettos Now that IS !!!

I have to completely agree with this post!!! I'm a big shoe lover too (just ask my DH ;))! However, most of my favorite shoes stay at home while I'm at WDW! I'm not a big fan of tennis/gym shoes either. They make me FEEL frumpy, yet I don't think people LOOK bad wearing them!
Having said that, for our past July trip, I broke down and bought a pair of keen sandles. I wasn't sure the look was for me--but I gave them a try and I was pleasantly surprised!!! They were SOOO comfortable and water resistant to boot! I also quickly got used to "the look" of them. I guess it helped that I have several people stop and ask me what brand they were, where did I get them, were they comfortable, etc. If it weren't for that darn FANNY PACK :lmao: I would have been able to leave the "dork card" at the resort :rotfl:, or at least I would have thought I didn't need to carry it!

Just want to say there is more to style and fashion and looking good than just the shoes. I've seen people in flats looking pretty dang sytlish and people in heels who look :scared1:.

Yes, frumpy is an attack. You wouldn't want anyone to call you an ugly name for wearing high heels to WDW would you? Believe me you wouldn't want to know what I've overheard people saying about women who do wear high heels to WDW.

Yeah, calling women who wear crocs or birks "frumpy" is pretty much the equivalent of calling women who wear high heels "slutty." BTW, I don't wear birks or crocs (don't like them at all) but I resent people who label others by what they wear.

I'd go for comfort myself. I thinks crocs are so ugly but I wore them our last trip and had happy feet the whole trip. ;)

Since you are going in November it's very likely the weather in Florida will be warm enough to not wear jeans anyway. We're usually there in January and I can count the number of times I've had to wear jeans/pants. Yes, you do get cooler days sometimes, but, not usually in November. Also, even if the temps were a little cooler, I would think boots would be too warm anyway.

Dont let your fashion be dictated by frumpy women who think birkenstocks or crocs look "good". They are the ones who need their heads examined, not you.

Yes - that was an attack by any standards. If you didn't mean it as an attack, maybe you're the one who should dial it down a bit.

Sorry to be half off topic but I thought I would share this with you all. Just yesterday a woman I work with (she is very critical and insulting about what other people wear) told me that she liked to wear black clothes with her 3 inch heels because it made her look slim. Seeing as she had made me angry by saying something really snotty and not nice about someone else that we work with that morning, I had to tell her the truth -- there aren't a pair of heels high enough to make you look slim honey. I know, I stooped to her level but she made me angry. Some of the comments on this thread reminded me of this.

Exactly. That's one thing that cracks me up about the PP making fun of "frumpy" women who think birkenstocks and crocs look good. Many people wear shoes that they don't think look good at WDW because they're choosing comfort over fashion (me included).

After my daughter was born, my feet just kind of gave up. If I don't have supportive, comfortable shoes on, my feet start aching. I can't even go barefoot for any length of time anymore. Outside "the world", I try to be as fashionable as I can, given the limitations of my feet. Inside the world, it's supportive running shoes all the way. :thumbsup2

If the jenniferhouston2's of the world want to stand around feeling superior and laughing at my footwear, they can go right ahead. I'll be enjoying my vacation too much to notice them. :)

I am like you all I ever wear is heels. I tried wearing heals in Disney before and on a 3 day trip to NYC.....I will NEVER do it again. I was in agony on the first day and normally heels don't hurt my feet at all but with all that walking it does. Honestly I would really recommend you don't. No one is paying attention to your feet in Disney and it's not about look high fashion while there. I am always worrying about how my clothing looks as well but I think sneakers or comfy flip flops like Teva's or Reefs look fine especially while at Disney. There isn't anything wrong with the shoes others choose to wear at Disney though. Personally I don't like the look of crocs but ppl wear them because they are comfy so I don't see anything wrong with that and they definetely don't look frumpy. Seeing as about 90% of the people walking around the parks are wearing crocs I would say they fit in. You don't have to wear high heels to look nice. Disney is a casual place not a runway. So I honestly think you should leave the heels at home otherwise you'll regret it. You are going to actually look more silly and out of place if you are wearing high heels because everyone knows it is insane to do so. An opinion was asked of ppl by OP so I don't think there is a need for snotty remarks by anyone cause they gave an answer. But as I said I am like you when it comes to heels and I can relate but that's a big no.

We are going Nov 27-Dec 8 and I don't intend on wearing jeans except maybe on the occassional night because it should be warm enough for shorts so I don't think you will even need to wear your jeans.

Since we are going in November I don't really know what the weather will be like but I will probably have to wear jeans and I can't stand wearing sneakers with jeans--I always wear high heeled boots (like stilettos) or just high heels...am I crazy to walk around in a park like that--I normally wear my boots/heels for hours on end.

Come on now, did you really have to ask if you are crazy?:crazy2:

Jennifer,

Now you've got me wanting to check out your entire wardrobe. Please post pics. What are you afraid of? You're brave enough to wear heels to Disney, brave enough to call people you don't even know "frumpy", but too scared to post a pic?

Come on! Let's see. We're all interested, I know.

Now I'm thinking about the whole "Crocs are frumpy" thing......do you know how many different types of crocs there are? If you are talking about the typical croc shoe, which I believe is called the "beach" croc...yes...not pretty...but quite comfy. They sell ballet flats, and sandals....all made of that material. They even put out a line that are in velvet or suede-like material. They even sell heels now! A line called "You", I believe. I wear crocs in the parks because they work for me.....but I love a nice pair of heels as much as the next girl. Just not at Disney. But that's just me.

Frankly I go for comfort and I don't really care what is on my feet so long as I'm able to keep up with my kids. Happy mom = happy family...cranky mom with sore feet = miserable time had by all. But hey, to each his own.

My philosophy is - I'm never going to see these people again and I sure don't care what I look like to you. My family and friends care about me b/c of who I am and not how I dress.

But don't call me frumpy b/c I'm wearing a type of shoe that keeps my feet happy - that's just plain rude...not to mention it's prejudiced...you're making judgements about people based solely on what they're wearing - it's the same as making judgements about people based on eye, hair, and skin color.
