I have never paid over $200 for a week at National, Alamo, or Dollar in Florida.
For our next trip the lowest I can get it (with codes and Ent. coupon) is $316 for a midsize! That's nuts! ME is looking better all the time.

That seems extreme to me too.
I was just able to get my 10 day rental down next week to $189. I used the National $30 e-coupon.

We have a Budget full size SUV for 650!!!!!!!!! It's for 2/17-2/24, I thought it was outrageous, my husband insists it's a necessity!:scared:

I just got 182 for a Standard for 9 days next week on Priceline. I seem to do well there. I asked for $13 per day and it came back as a one time offer to increase my price if I wanted to try again...so I went to $14 with success.
Good luck.

I need a mini-van for Feb 11- 22 the best price I can find is through Costco with Alamo $469.00 All the others were over $500.
I might give priceline a try, never tried it before and it makes me a bit nervous.

Our local Costco doesn't have the new codes for 2007! Did you book that with a 2007 code?

I just went to Costco.com and clicked through the links and made sure I put in the coupon code. It worked so I hope I don't end up with a big surprise when I get there.

We were also getting very high rates for our dates. I'm pretty sure that they were black-out dates. Finally a Disser told me to try Hotwire. We wound up with a good rate, and the vehicle is with Thrifty. The price for an SUV was almost the same as a mid, so check out any deal on all sizes. I even called Thrifty to makw sure everything was okay, and it is. Just make sure to print the confirmation.

Good luck!

I ended up with Thrifty, too - 231.52 for 9 days - full size - March 29- April 6 - this is the standard rate with no codes or coupons. Actually, I clicked on a special tab on their site to get it, so the code was included. Anyone know anything about Thrifty?

I agree these car rental rates are getting rediculous. I can't believe that they aren't leaving a lot of cars unrented at these rates. Even some of the cheaper discount operations off the airport are asking rates that I am not willing to pay.

That being said, I did luck out. I reserved a full size at Thrifty in March for two weeks at a rate of $126/wk.

In the future I will be considering ME if the rates stay at these high levels.

I'm still checking around....but so far the lowest rates I've gotten for Feb 21 to 26 is $177 (all taxes/fees included) for an economy car (Kia Rio) through Dollar at the airport. I used to get better rates picking up thru Dollar at the Grosvenor hotel, but this time they were higher.
I'm going to keep checking and plugging in codes.

Here I was getting all excited about the possibility of some low Thrifty rates (126/week sounded great!) But, alas, the best I could get for March 24-April 1 was $190 ($222 with taxes and fees) for an intermediate. That was with the Sam's 10% off code. I guess it's a little better than what I have reserved at Budget for those dates--$232 w/tax using the walmart code. Maybe something better will come out as time gets closer?

I have three sheets of the costco coupons if you still can't find them let me know and I'll mail them to you. PM if you're interested!

Okay, I continued my search and looked at Hotwire. They have vehicles there from Thrifty for 15.85 per day for a mid sized. That brings my total down to 170 for my 8 days. I think I'll reserve it, since it says it can be cancelled. Here's my question...is Thrifty not on site? I thought I saw someone on another board mention a shuttle...though when I was on Thrifty's site it had what appeared to be an airport address. Anyone know?
Thanks, and to those still looking, see if Hotwire gets you a better deal!

I am renting a mini van for $605 for 12 days in Feb. When I checked Hotwire the price was $92 per DAY, that would put me over $1200!!! Guess I will have to be happy with the $605!!!

The only onsite car rentals at MCO are:
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, National and L+M. These are the ones you can walk to.

You will have to take a shuttle for Thrift.

Thrifty is offsite and shuttles are provided in both terminals A & B on the ground level where the ground transportation is located. I am hesitant to use the offsite rental companies UNLESS you allow yourself at least 45 min extra on top of what you would normally allow. One time we used Hertz and almost missed our flight. The shuttle backed up over the steel spikes that stick out of the parking lot (used to deter traffic in a certain direction). Not sure how to explain them. But any way.....really delayed us getting back to the airport and we were literally sprinting through the terminal. Got to our flight just before the doors shut. I'd always allow 45-60 min extra after that experience for offsite car rentals. But if the price is that low, it's definitely worth it ! Going to Hotwire now.
