Do you think this might be true? Do you think that due to the high airfares, less people will travel and WDW will offer more codes or special plans like free dining? Or do you think the airfare situation will change by next spring?

I think that what we might see is people by there air early while the prices are down that way they won't have to worry about possible FSC being added to the flights.

We already bought our airfare last May for March 2006. Got the lowest prices we've ever found. Paid $175 rt for Chgo to Orlando. We were so excited. Under $900 for all 5 of us. Direct flights and the times we wanted!

We bought our airfare 330 days out in the belief that fuel costs would mean higher prices if we waited. If this theory holds, I'd expect travel and tourism to suffer and Disney might have to resort to more codes to fill rooms. I'm not HOPING the economy tanks, but I fear it will, and soon. I booked POR at the AAA rate but I expect to be able to do better before we go.

Alot could happen by Spring, but I think the economy and airfares are going to effect travel some. More the economy than airfares though IMHO. I think gas prices are really going to have an effect if they stay high long term.

Travel went on an upswing in 2005, but I don't think it's going to hold past the end of the year. It'll be interesting to see how Christmas spending goes.
Usually when that goes down so does travel....not always, but you can sort of get an idea from that.

Some of the Celebration hoopla should be dying down a bit too which might help a little with spring rates, packages, ect......

Bought it a couple of months ago when Song had a short fare sale going on (found out about it on these boards!) and got NY-MCO for $165/pp including taxes. Didn't think I'd ever do much better than that.

I haven't booked any lodgings, since I'm waiting to see if the Best Rates are decent. I've purchased my AP for our trip in November so I'll be able to use it for the BR program, but depending on the savings, I'll also look at AAA packages where I can purchase dining. I've purchased a DDE card for our November trip (we're staying offsite) and if it's too much of a savings to give up in April for the dining plan, I'll use it again then too.

Purchased my tickets from Southwest for $79.00 each way from SAT to MCO on 9/14/05. The prices went up at midnight on 9/15/05 to the tune of about $80 to $90 more for the same flight. On Southwest i couldn't book out beyond 4 months. The prices are holding steady, but for how long is anyone's guess.
