In my local paper today, they had a Wall St Journal story on the HIFS changing into the Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn.
The hotel will be redecorated with Nickelodeon characters and the rooms will feature bunk beds, video console systems and character wake-up calls. There will be live entertainment, character breakfasts and nightly "sliming" opportunities.
They are spending $20-million and are planning a first quarter 2005 grand opening.

Sounds too cute! My kids love the Nick characters. Too bad it won't be in effect for our visit next month!

Thanks for the info!

Oh yuck! :( I just couldn't stay in a room with Angelica or Spongebob plastered on the walls - I'm sure the kids would disagree though

That sounds like fun! We stayed at HIFS a couple of weeks ago for a weekend at Universal (have AP's) and didn't do Disney. I would have loved to have a Nick themed room, it would have been perfect for our trip!

I have been trying to find out the construction date start because we are staying in January 2004. We stayed at a hotel once that was remodeling and it was just awful. They had people pounding away at 5 in the morning.

I just hope if they have started remodeling that they will remember their current guests. It sounds like it will be even more fun once it is done.princess:

Every cloud has a silver lining. We've also stayed in hotels that were under renovation. Each time, I complained to the hotel management and the parent company. Each time, the cost of my stay was refunded. Of course, this is only likely if the hotel does not warn you in advance that construction is being done. Many frequent travelers have learned to ask about construction when they book their rooms.

Of course, getting a free room still doesn't always make up for the inconvenience and lost sleep caused by the noise.

I was just coming to post this info, but I see you beat me to it, Seastar! ;)
You can find out more about it here: http://www.nickhotel.com/
The best part is that they are planning two pools with water slides and flumes! Yeah!!! We just got back after our second stay there, and again we really enjoyed it. We are planning Universal for our next trip so I was thinking we may stay somewhere else, but this has changed my mind.
