Last summer DS's friend lent DS his expensive sunglasses. VonZippers?? :confused3 (all of his sunglasses are expensive). Another DS, not knowing who they belonged to or who borrowed them wore them and misplaced them. We only had the case. They turned up months later, the lens was loose and the screw was missing. I took the glasses and the case to the optician who fixed them at no charge and brought them home, determined that NO ONE was going to touch them until the owner came back from college and collected them. I hid them so well that I forgot where. For some reason I thought about them tonight. After searching for 90 minutes I finally found them where it suddenly occurred to me that I hid them...on one of my closet shelves under a stack of jerseys. From now on when I hide something I am going to make a note stating exactly where I hid it and hope that I don't lose the note! Actually, I put it back where I found it and made a note on a sticky of the dashboard of the lap top. No one will look there! ;)

Been there and done that :thumbsup2

Before I travel I take all unnecessary cards etc out of my wallet and stash them somewhere at home.

Unfortunately by the time I get back home again, I've usually forgotten where I put them :confused3

Next time I'm going to make myself a note and put it in my wallet before I leave so I can find my stuff back

When I put something away for safekeeping, you better believe it's safe! So safe it's never again seen by human eyes! And forget writing myself a note. Those are the first things to disappear. Getting old is so much fun.

I have a sysyem in my house and it works so well for me. The bad part is its my system not my DH's and not the kids. They only slow me down or mess me up ( I know thats their jobs) so best for all is hand me the item do not attempt to hide it yourself it wont work for them! It hasnt yet anyway and here we sit with a list of a few important items yet to be found. As it is I'm the first one they all come to to ask where it is thats THEY hid it at. Ummm no I dont think so but ther are quite sure I must know where it is. Lots of wasted energy spent looking for things in this house.

My DH and kids get crazed when I tell them I know where ALL my things are, wheres yours? Everyonce in a while I hide something much to soon and when I finally need it I have to check a few different spots. Never a dull moment.

I once read that squirrels later only find about 10 -20% of the nuts and acorns they hide. So this seems to be a very common phenomenon ;)

Oh Boy, I sure have done that myself. More than I care to admit! :rolleyes1

when we were making the second floor bigger, they gutted it, so we cleaned out the rooms.
i found christmas presents from the last 10 years in my closet for the kids and dh.

found elmo, barney, lizzie macguire, dolls, slippers and many other stuff that all went to salvation army

Viking,

You're not suggesting that DawnCt1 is a little "squirrely," are you?! :rotfl2:

And hey, if the sticky falls off and gets lost then you always have this post to go back to. ;)

I've done that several times with concert tickets.

You have to buy those darn things so far in advance.... I put them away "somewhere safe" - then absolutely panic the day of the show when I go to find them.

I actually never found a pair to an Aerosmith show one time. But I had bought them through the fan club. I actually called the box office and explained my dilemma, and - for some strange reason - they believed me and left replacements at the Will Call office. ...I think it had helped that I had memorized the seat numbers (I "love" Aerosmith!!!), and they could see that those tickets "had" been bought by the fan club...

Oh well - I have one spot, now, that I always try to keep them.

Oh gosh! I do that all the time.
 Me too. I shop early for Holidays and birthdays so on. Sometimes I end up tearing up the house looking for the gift and then end up having to go out and buy a new one. :rotfl2: of course much later I can return the first one once my brain comes back to life.
