"hiding" people on Facebook

I've recently "hidden" 2 people because their posts are driving me NUTS. Nobody's life could be THIS perfect all the time... plus the posts are just the same thing- posted in slightly different terms. Makes me wonder exactly WHO they are trying to convince- all their FB friends or themselves. Can folks tell if you have them "hidden" ? I'd hate to hurt anyone's feelings, but it's driving me nuts. I know you think your kid is amazing.... we get it- you don't need to post it 50 times a day.

Nope, they can't tell you are hidden. I hide people all the time and then unhide them when I get over the annoyance.

I have also hidden myself from some people so they don't know I exist in facebook world. I do this when I get a friend request from someone I really really want no part of ...... also when I am annoyed at a 'friend' and just drop myself off the face of the facebook. I then don't show up in their searches and my replies to friends of theirs are invisible to them, too. Nice feature.

how do you unhide them?

Go to the bottom of the news feed and click on "edit options". There you can choose from the lists who to hide and unhide.

On the chat drop down make yourself offline/not available then folks dont know when you are on and they wont be able to talk to ya

You can switch it to offline. I have to do this all the time.

OP, you mean you don't want to read about how perfect somebody's kids, husband, job, pets, etc., etc. are on a daily basis? I feel your pain. I agree. Nobody's life is THAT perfect ALL the time.

i once "hid" someone from work, and then forgot that I did it.

I spent a week complaining to DH how this obnoxious person had blocked me from their posts, how dare they when they were the annoying ones, etc....

I unfriended them in complete indignation. Afterwards, I realized I had a bunch of people hidden.

I finally had to hide a relative because in nearly every post he was preaching, c&p scripture, or condemning a certain political party.

I've blocked people who have shown up on friends' lists so they can't see what I post, and I don't have my blood pressure go up from what they post.

THAT is the word. It's like they are thumbing their nose at everyone else. "I lead such a virtuous life that I'm blessed and YOU suck" My dh has also blocked one of the same folks for the same reason.

My son hid a friend because the kid and his girlfriend constantly post "news" items that are basically personal notes about how much each loves the other. My son got tried of these "I (heart) you so much (heart)(heart)(heart)!!!" posts cluttering his front page instead of them using e-mail that he hid the kid.

I've got a "friend" like this also.

Their days "just can't get any busier.....hopefully, they'll get a chance to relax tonight.......& then if possible they would like just one good night's sleep because tomorrow is even busier."

WTH.............get off of Facebook & start doing what you need to do if you are so busy.

I'm busy too, so is everyone else on the planet. I'm not going to look like an idiot posting on FB, which is clearly a time sucker, & tell everyone how busy I am.

In your privacy settings you can block certain people or groups from seeing your wall posts. They still show up as a friend but you never see their wall posts. I had to do this to a coworker. He is one that is always preaching on his wall posts- always. He never posts about anything else. He replied to one of my posts with a snarky comment so I blocked him for seeing what I write.

I hate it too when people pop on to chat. I wish they had something like the DIS, where you can select the button if you want people to know if you are on or not. See the red button in the left hand corner. If you are on, it is green, if you are off, it is blue, but you can select the privacy button, it will be red always, and no one knows if you are online or off line.
