There was a thread recently talking about a new book called
"Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World." In it they talk about
hidden things you might miss at WDW. Most they tell you what and where. But one they just teased you about.....

On Spaceship Earth. It says "As you pass the cave dwellers scene, take a quick flash photo of the wall directly to your right. You'll have a fun surprise when you see the picture later

Well like the OP said, SE is a dark ride and your probably not supposed to take photos on. So I'd like to find out without being rude and taking a photo.
So I was wondering if anyone here knows what you see?
Or if there's a photo of it posted somewhere?

I thought this too when I read it! I wont take flash photos, so would love to know what I'm missing without being rude on the ride.

You'll have the picture of security escorting you out of the park for ignoring the rules*.

* if only....

Yes, if only they would clamp down on flash photography. Also video cameras with lights. We were enjoying an amazing lunch at San Angel, really digging the atmosphere, when along comes a boat. In the boat is a guy with a video camera, the light swinging all over like a spot-light. Great stuff. NOT.

I too would like to know what this mystery image is!

I'm pretty sure using a flash is the only way to find something hidden if it is in a dark area of the ride. And while yes, depending on the situation, it can be rude to use a flash in a dark ride, I see people do it all the time, making me wonder if it is "against the rules" on every single indoor Disney ride.

But what upsets me is - with flash photography - on Haunted Mansion for example when there is contanst flashing, you lose the whole environment, as it's meant to be dark and the things that are 'hidden' in teh dark are done so on purpose to give the full effect of the ride!

I don't mind so much on rides like small world etc. But on HM it really ruins the magic sometimes - and you know all the people end up with are awful photos like this (random google pic):

Which don't capture any of the magic at all!

although i think it is a solid spotlight on a camera is pretty bad, I dont think a camera flash isn't back as long as you're not shooting past other guests, or taking pictures every .3 seconds. once every once in a while isn't too bad.

It is. With everyone's eyes adjusted to the dark, it is extremely rude, disrespectful, and can even be painful if the idiot with the flash has it pointed in your direction. The constant flashes (even every few seconds) cause your eyes to keep trying to adjust to light levels, making it rather difficult to sit back and enjoy the ride.

We had some yahoo using his flash on every scene on Spaceship Earth in the car in front of us; I wanted to keelhaul him under a Friendship boat.

:lmao: I had a family of them on POTC with me last trip. 3 people of the 5 were flash photoing the entire ride! Even at the poor people eating in the restaurant!!

I always say to my DF I'd love to take a maglite and then shine it right into the photo-maniacs eyes until they got the message - sadly it'd cause too much distraction to the nice guests too - so my dream wont become reality.

still hoping for an answer to the original quesition.
Anybody know?

The answer to these, nine times out of ten, is it will be a "Hidden Mickey" of some sort.

I had to be held back this week not to reach forward and hurl another guest's camera out of the boat because they clicked off flash photos on POTC like every 2 seconds. RUDE!!!

I went in June and took a picture using the flash and there is something there. I don't want to ruin the surprise. Go ahead and try it.

ok if you know please tell, but I really DON'T want to try.
If you have the pick how about posting it so we can see it
because theres a few of us curious to see it but not comfortable taking the photo.

Ditto!

I want to know, but don't want to be "that girl" ticking everyone else off.

Thanks for the PM.

That's exactly what I thought it was.
