Hidden Hazards of Quarantine

Most supermarkets around here normally carry Fels-Naptha, as does WalMart.

I also keep a bar in a ziploc under the bathroom sink for stain treatment use; along with chips off the bar stashed in our travel toiletries bags, to use to hand-wash clothes while traveling. Be sure to cut it in the same direction each time; otherwise it crumbles.
The closest WM to me is in another state. When we vacation in CT I always visit Walmart's like it's a tourist site:lmao:.
I used to be able to find it at the precursors to the Dollar stores but most of them are gone now; probably the rents are too high.

I just wet one corner of it and rub it on the stain and they put it back in a zip-loc bag for storage.
Going to borrow your ZipLoc bag idea since otherwise it'll just wind up sitting in a pool of soap "glop";).

I also kept my stain bar in a zip-top bag for years, but then I got the brilliant idea to just buy a travel soap box for $.99. Now, my bar can dry out in the box, not sit in a pile of goo, and then I just close the top and slide it into a drawer until it is needed again. No mess and the box is sturdier than the bag, which got looking a little ratty over time. My bar lasts a long time like this, since it isn't melting away by sitting in moisture.

I leave mine wrapped and tied in a piece of mesh hanging on a hook by my laundry tub. Always handy, always dries out after each use.

I was scheduled to make dinner for 35 young people on two different dates so I have stocked up on baking supplies big time. Both meals have been cancelled. In the past it was my habit to make cookies to relieve stress or to prevent boredom and I have the supplies so there has been some baking going on.

I live alone in a high rise apartment building, have an autoimmune disorder and older so taking the self-isolation seriously. To keep from eating too many cookies, I have taken to going out at the crack of dawn and taping bags of cookies on my neighbors' doors when no one else is around.

Love this idea!!! Thanks for suggesting it. :) Why didn't I think of that:confused3

Negative: My kids are home from college. So yeah like most people here, it's the same song-more laundry, dishes/running dishwasher everyday, cleaning the hardwood floors, making meals, more money spent on groceries and eating pickup orders.

Positive: My kids are home from college! It's awesome to have their personalities back in the house and hearing their stories about school. Our doggies love playing with them so they have some quality time with them too. We have family meals together and they always thank me for it. They are really appreciative and it makes everything that is more of an effort worth every second of it!

Another positive is that its so cool to see my neighborhood come alive with activity. So many people walking together as families and walking their dogs. People actually wave when I drive down the street-people I don't even know. So cute seeing the neighbors across the street outside with their toddlers playing in the yard with them. Most people seem happy to have some down time. You don't see people driving at a break-neck speed in the morning trying to make it to work on time (actually don't see people driving much in the morning anyway).

It's so still outside. I will miss this when things go back to normal but, I really want it all to go back to normal. I am getting worried about what is happening to human life and hope everyone stays safe. I care about everyone and I don't want people to suffer.

Funny story..about 2 weeks ago just a day or two before our stay at home order was announced my husband and I were out. I commented "wow lot of people seem to be more in a hurry weaving more in and out it seems maybe they are seeing the less traffic as a reason"...they just ran a story where the police department on the other side of the state line from me has noticed an uptick in speeding and they wanted to remind people they will still pull you over for speeding. They had a person was driving 117 mph on a motorcycle in a 55 mph zone while it was wet on one of our highways. Another person was stopped going 108 mph in a 65 mph zone on another highway.

So less traffic on the road it appears in my area but people seem to be using that as an excuse to push the gas pedal a bit more lol.

Spring cleaning, washing and changing out household linens and bedding. Cleaning and putting away most of my heavier sweaters, scarves, and other coId weather clothes. I’m wearing a uniform of leggings, tee shirt and sweatshirt now and if I go back to work it’ll be time for capris and lighter clothing anyhow.

Positive- house smells good from the freshly laundered things in every room

Negative- I brought a pile of things to the dry cleaner ($$$)

Positive- I am getting to spend a whole lot of time with my grown daughter.
Negative- I now remember what a huge slob she is . :hyper:
 Stay strong - the struggle is real. My DS (23) is a wrecking ball. He literally leaves a wake behind him and I've long since abandoned any hope for his room as long as he's still living in it. Cute kid though; lucky for him. ;)

A messy house is far more disturbing when stuck in it. And I’m still unpacking from my move. Lots of boxes build up until bulk pickup day. And new online orders don’t help.

We have Waste Management and per "CDC GUIDELINES" they are no longer doing bulk pickups or taking anything that isn't inside their trashcan. So we can't put extra cans or bags with grass clippings, can't put extra boxes for recycling etc. I'm seeing some trash stacking on sides of houses.

I'm still working full time....and there's way more to do in the house now that everyone is here all day endlessly eating and making messes lol. I definitely have not had time for extra projects, spring cleaning, etc. I really miss being able to go places and do things and see people in real life.

On the plus side, I'm glad I'm still working and we have more time as a family. I am getting more sleep than I normally do.

I used to relax and spend glorious me-time at Walmart. Now it’s filled with the masses all the time and my happy place is not what it was.

Positive - I've never been so caught up on laundry. 🏆
Negative - I've realized that all our clothes do not actually fit in our dressers at once. :rotfl2:

This is so funny and so true for us too!

My positive is we get to sleep later in the mornings due to no commute. DH can get up an hour and a half to two hours later than his normal time! Negative is I usually still have to get up early because the cat is crying to be fed. :cat:

Ok, so reading through this thread.. two subsequent comments were incredibly helpful.

Kids (preteens) are messy, they eat everything in sight and they demand constant attention, unless they are on fortnite. Never realized how much money I save when my kids are in school on food and how much cleaner my house would stay lol.

I leave mine wrapped and tied in a piece of mesh hanging on a hook by my laundry tub. Always handy, always dries out after each use.

Very clear instructions.. our pre-teens are now in a mesh bag, hanging from a hook by our laundry tub unless they're playing fortnite. That way we can regulate their intake, and they aren't making much of a mess. We also let them out to do handy things around the house, and they're rearing to go as soon as we let them out again. Cheers! :D

#/s, #kidding lest people actually take me seriously...

Positive--we aren't throwing out as much food.

Negative--we have to run the dishwasher every day which means I get to empty it more. :sad2:

Yup, DH asked what is for dinner and I keep saying "must-gos" which is leftovers. Nothing is going to be tossed, we are utilizing everything. Meals planned around expire dates.

In my big February stock up for what I anticipated was going to happen ... I bought extra dishwasher soap because with all meals at home (and more baked brownies) .... we were gonna need it.
