HI Priority Club Platinum Question

Anyone here have HI Priority Club Platinum? Dh can buy points to go up to Platinum status. Is this really worth it? Do you get much better service and always get room upgrades? I think it's kind of a waste of money. We're staying at Sunspree this month. The only advantage I can see is, if there's a problem, they might be more likley to fix it quickly for a Platinum member.
