Hi, this is my first post on this board so I thought I'd introduce myself. My husband and I are taking our first vacation alone together since having our daughter in April 2007. We are going to Disney World in September and my parents are watching our little girl. Neither of us have been since we were kids so I came here to try to read up a little bit before we go!

Any advice/info would be helpful. We are staying at Pop Century (really just chose it because of price) and we have a six day base pass. We also got the basic meal plan for free with our package.

Hi and welcome!:thumbsup2 I've been in Sept before and I'd say the best advise is to get up early and be there when the parks open. It is cooler and not as crowded. Then take a break during the hottest part of the day and return in the evening. Also make your reservations for dining if you haven't do so b/c the restaurants fill up quickly during the free dining period. Hope you have a great time!!

WELCOME!!

POP is a nice resort, nothing fancy, but fun. It definitely has some die-hard fans too. Be sure to check out all of the fun super-size icons around the resort (giant Baloo, Mickey Mouse phone, Potato Heads, etc)...and there's a fun memory walk along the lake, with signs pointing out trivia from various years throughout the decades.

If you haven't already done so, be sure to plan and make some Advanced Dining Reservations - free dining is a very popular time of year, and the restaurants fill up quickly!

I hope you have a great time!

How do I make the dining reservations and where can I make them? We were just going to use the "cheapy" places included in our plan and maybe upgrade one time. What do I need to do to make reservations? Can that be done online?

With free dining you get 1 snack, 1 counter service and 1 table service for each night you are staying. So for example when you go to EPCOT, you could go to the Sunshine Seasons (counter service--like fast food) for lunch where you would get an entree, drink and a dessert. Then for dinner you could eat at one of the restaurants in a country like Rose & Crown in England (1 table service). And sometime during the day, an ice cream or something for a snack. You could also use a snack option for breakfast if you want to eat light and have all your meals taken care of.

You have to call Disney Dining to make the reservations. I would tell them you are unfamiliar with the dining plan so they can explain it to you farther.
Here is the dining # (407)939-3463. I would call soon to do that. Let me know if you want any restaurant suggestions.

There is also a ton of dining info under Disney Restaurants. At the very top of the forum is a Disney Dining Plan section. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

:cheer2: :welcome: :cheer2:

You will have a magical time on the Dis, everyone is so friendly.

We stayed at Pop last year and loved it, We will be staying at Sports this september ( we like to stay somewhere different each trip) so might see you!!

Have a magical vacation:)

ABsolutely make those ADRs.

There are a HUGE variety of places included on the plan, some of them reallly nice. As 2 adults, you can be a bit more flexible in your eating times, so you may be able to get a reservation this late to some of the nicer places. Definitley go up do the Dining link at the top of the page and take a look, then call some ADRs. Again, you may need to be flexible-- some late lunches or LATE dinners, but absolutely make some reservations.
